Thursday evening 20th april ’17, way past 10pm, I emailed the Buddies of Let's Hue and enquired about a tourguide for the following morning. 10 min later everything was set. Thank you Linh!!!👍🏻

I was picked up by my guide 8.30 to go and see the Citadel and Palace. In the worst heat so far on my trip, my guide tought me very professionally and with good english, everything about the empire and the last dynasty of emperors. She was being very patient with me and endured all my exploits of finding the perfect cameraangles of the large compound!!!

After completed tour, both my guide and me decicided that we wanted to continue our partnership in the afternoon. After well deserved lunch, shower and siesta we met again to take a taxi to go and see the amazing toombs of Khai Dinh and Minh Mang, where the latter offered a very nice and cooling environment around the lake and in the shade of the trees in the large park. In total a very lovely and educational day.
The only downside was, that my guide got travelsick on the way back to Hue. Which apparently happens frequently. This was compensated by a pack of travelsicknesspills the day after☺

Also the day after, me and 2 english guys who did the same tour, were taken for a very nice eveningmeal to a small downtown restaurant by our 2 guides Ha and Nha, including an ”interesting” fermented fishsauce🐟

All in all, if you do happen to stay a day or two in Hue, be sure to get in contact with the Let's Hue-buddies for a guided tour by one of the students who are doing all this for free!!!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, HANNAH!!!! :-D

Today, I had the pleasure to be guided by Linh around the historical sights of Hue. After having filled out their online form, a buddy was being assigned to me and picked me up on time from the place of my accommodation. First, we went to the citadel, where she thoroughly explaint why it is built like that and how it changed during war and so on. Linh was very professional and had an answer to all questions I asked her.
After the citadel, we took a taxi to a vegeterian restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious hot pot, before continuing to the Tu Duc Tomb. Again her knowledge was outstanding from anything I could have expected from a free tour!
We finally visited the Thien Mu pegoda before we went back to my accommodation.

As I said, Linh was very knowledgeable and the tour was really for free. The only thing that you need to pay are the entrance fees for yourself and the tour guide (unless she/he has an admission card like Linh had), the lunch (for both) and the taxi. The tour guides does not try to sell you something nor bringing you to souvenir shops nor begging for money. She almost even refused tipping her, when I wanted to thank her about showing me around and teaching me so many things about the history of Hue.
I definitely recommend them to anyone. As long as you are kind and a bit talkative, they really enjoy showing tourists around Hue.
