We have nothing but complaints about this place. OK the entrance fee is close to nothing (10 000 each) but we weren't even given a map of the place. This place is really rubbish. I don't think they've ever hired a gardener or a decent cleaner. The place is riddled with leaves and most plants grow everywhere, including near or inside the attractions. The water is really filthy and I even saw a water snake in the pool near the water slide. The lights are busted and everyone is allowed to drive around on motorbikes. They've got cattle running around everywhere, cow dung on the grass so no place to put your towel down at all...... It was AWESOME!
You can really tell they spend a lot of money building this place but ran out so they just left. The gigantic dragon in the middle of the lake looks surreal but the best part was the abandoned slides. Trees grow around it / in it and the water turned green with various life forms swimming inside it (also a tiny snake) You can do whatever you like here and climb on top of stuff and make really cool pictures. There are no signs on the street but look for the big abandoned parking lot and just go up that road and keep going for about 500m - 1km till you hit the gate.

Thuy Tien Lake is a water park that opened in 2004 and closed/abandoned two years later. There are no fences or guards to stop visitors from entering the park. The park feels and looks like a horror film set. It's creepy and oh so fascinating at the same time. The main attraction is the Aquarium, which is guarded by a huge dragon - now covered in rust, peeling paint, graffiti, and broken glass. The water slides are fascinating as well; covered in leaves, rust, and trees growing through them.... young teenagers take a risk walking on top of the enclosed slide. There is also a water show area with stadium seating, and a flight simulator area. An amazing sight and a must see when in Hue.

Lots of nooks and crannies and bad sculpture to see. Maybe the backpacker set could behave themselves a bit better; don't shout and scream, dont bring your sh1tty music, don't leave your rubbish and don't scrawl graffiti. There are very few good graffiti artists and chances are you're not one of them.
Arrived by private driver, I guess chances are if you arrive with a local you're less likely to be shaken down for too much cash or turned away. 20,000 is the going rate.

I was wondering if it was still possible to go inside the park, reading online about guards that cannot be bribed anymore. I arrived at the park from the "free" entrance point on Maps.me : no security, just a bamboo "gate" inside the village. You can drive under it with your scooter - local style - and go directly inside the park (or you can park after this bamboo gate but I didn't want to leave my motorbike unattended).
I went there around 4:30, I never saw any guard from this entry. Maybe I was lucky... I was able to go inside the park with my motorbike. I just had to say to one guard (near "the dragon") that it wasn't mine when he asked whose bike it was (plan on walking a lot in there, this is big).
Anyway, if you're lucky, you won't have to spend a single dong to go inside and yes, it's still possible to visit the park at the moment, there was a lot of people inside yesterday, locals and foreigners.

The main entrance is guarded by multiple guys with a red band on their left arm. They don’t allow anyone in. Although, if you drive back down the road (from main entrance) you’ll see 2 sandy/rocky roads into the trees, follow those paths for a while and you’ll arrive at the the left side of the park! No guards or fences!

I always wanted to visit this place and I must say we really enjoyed it. First building with a big dragon head is a place where the aquariums used to be. You can go upstairs to the dragon‘s „mouth“ and see the view on the whole park. Then, you have to cross the bridge and go to the right, that‘s where the pool area with toboggans is. If you continue walking a bit more, you will see a flight simulator and a theatre where the water shows used to be performed. For me it was definately worth visiting as I like abandoned places. I wish I had done it few years earlier when it wasn’t as destroyed as it is now though.

Take a motorbike (as Hué is easy to drive and less crowded as eg. Hanoï) out of town and head for the pink gate to this abandoned waterpark, that was closed more than 10 years ago. Big signs and a guard will tell you the park is closed, but pay some 20.000 VND to the guard and park on the assigned spot and he will show you the small path trough the woods to enter the location. This is laidback urbex, as some ladies herding cows will be selling drinks at the location. Head first for the impressive dragon-feature set in a big lake for a real Jurassic Park sensation. Visit the (smashed) empty aquarium and climb the stairs into the dragon's mouth.
Explore the area and discovery the derelict water slides and other relics of this once bustling place.

Right, first things first... How to get in. I've uploaded a picture of the map for the entrance you need to go to... It is wide open and easy to get in here... The main entrance is guarded and you can try to bribe the security, but you might as well just going around them. Once inside, it's so big that you probably won't run into anyone, we didn't. There were loads of other people wondering about too. Really cool place to get some pictures. There's not too much to see, you can walk around it all in an hour.

We rented motorbikes to get there which was really convenient as the main attractions are a bit far apart. There where guards there, a lot of them but they didn’t seem to mind us and just pointed us in another direction. Download maps.me to get a map and directions! We went clockwise and began with the dragon which was probably the highlight of the Park. They did charge for parking (5000 dong) which could probably have been avoided but we didn’t mind. Just a reminder that the “roads” around the park are really crappy so just be careful! Overall it was super fun and cool to explore the park.

Cool place for photo’s and to drive around. It’s not too big. We arrived around 10AM and there were some other people as well. The ‘guard’ tried to stop us but we just drove around the barrier, he tried to stop us again but we just drove further. There’s a place where you can park your bike and of course they ask money for it, but we just moved the little tables and chairs and drove further.
It’s a 15/20 minute bike trip from Hue and perfect to combine with the tombs.
There’s also another exit/entrance you can use (there’s no one there to stop you).
