What a treat..
Dec 2018 • Couples
This place is lovely.. From the park with old timers hanging out in the front to the elaborately decorated temple to the somewhat austere tomb, it was all wonderful.. Also need to mention all the locals in traditional dress for photo shoots and the calligraphy workshop on the side of the temple. Right next to this complex is a traditional market where we had some really good Vietnamese food.. A bit outside the main tourist trail but do worth it..

a nice walk from the center of D1 where there are no tourists

Small but charming shrine to a dead general from the 19thC, It is attached to a small park which is quite pretty. I walked the 2 miles from near the palace which is good excercise and you get to see other sights.

A Very spiritual Place
Sep 2018
Our visit to the Tomb of Lê Văn Duyệt was beautiful. The Tomb is located next to a Temple where the was a traditional and famous theater performance called Hát Bội Traditional Opera. The place was filled with a very nice spiritual vibe and the Vietnamese people was very nice to us and welcoming. We filmed the Hát Bội Traditional Opera and noone got offended or frown upon that at all. Nice experience indeed and thank God we brought media memories to remember this spiritual place.

Interesting historical tomb
Dec 2016 • Friends
Le Van Duyet was a figure of major importance in ancient Vietnamese history. It's a traditional tomb in a classical Chinese-Vietnamese style with a lot of atmosphere. There's a large park adjoining the tomb where one can relax from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Peaceful, Beautiful and Uncrowded
Jul 2016 • Solo
Free attraction with no hawkers, people perterring you, etc. This place was one of the most peaceful beautiful and uncrowded spots in Ho Chi Minh City that I visited. I was the only western visitor and nobody else was there except for a couple of staff. Off the tourist map, ranked 143 of 209 things to do in Ho Chi Minh City with only three previous reviews, this place deserves a higher ranking on Tripadvisor. I went here first and then to the Emperor Jade Pagoda, but found this place more peaceful and colorful.

Le Van Duyet was a Vietnamese general who helped unify Vietnam and establish the Nguyen Dynasty becoming a high-ranking mandarin under the first 2 Nguyen Emperors. He helped stabilize and develop the southern third of Vietnam, turning it into a wealthy and peaceful region during the early 1800s.

Truly awesome

I happened on this little gem because of the review on TA. It was out there all right. You're not walking here from City Center! I rolled up on it just because. Well, I hit it just right. People were inside paying respect. Gongs ringing. Fires burning. Incense.

The compound itself was a shocker! Best I've seen in HCMC. Stacks up to dramatic religious daily events anywhere. Unbelievably ornate. Detail inside and out. I'm thrilled I caught this. It's actually off the radar as well. No tourists. The map dealio puts it left at the end and it's right but when you get there you'll see the park on the right. The other way is a legit local market.

Worth a long walk to see this large park/temple/tomb complex
Dec 2015 • Couples
It is quite a bit of walk to get to this temple and you probably won't see many tourists here as it is well away from frequented sites. But if you have chance, it is definitely worth a trip. The temple/tomb structure is well kept and beautiful. The park-like area around is also a good place for a quiet rest away from all the traffic. The decorations on the buildings are also unlike other things you will see in the city
