They offer this great chat feature they entirely ignore. We saw the bus and it looked interesting, so we bought tickets. I wish we'd read reviews first. We purchased the 24 hour pass, but upon further inspection, the hours are between 5pm and 10pm. This seemed wrong, so I chatted and emailed them, never receiving a response. Then, Ho Chi Minh started to close some non-essential businesses due to a COVID risk, several of our other tours got cancelled, so we hit them up if it's available tomorrow... No response. I'm just glad it wasn't very expensive, but companies who are this irresponsible, who take your money and feel no obligation to manage expectations are irritating to me.

We were with the Hanoi Hop On and Hop Off Bus on a beautiful sunny day, we boarded the bus at 10 am in the morning, we were with a 3 hour bus ticket. The bus goes around Hanoi, the main tourists attractions. We stayed on the bus for the first hour without getting off so that we could see the stops. One complete round was about 1.5 hours. I think it was quite a good deal, recommended. We were travelling in family with a senior, not teens.

With all attractions closed and three days until my departing flight home, I thought it would be a good idea to while away some time by taking the four hour trip, firstly doing an entire circuit of the route and then perhaps getting off at one or two places. After doing the first ‘lap’ and returning to the starting point at Hoan Kiem Lake, I wanted to stay on the bus for what I thought would be at most, a five minute stop. However I was asked to get off as it would be 30 minutes before leaving again and so I walked back to my hotel, had a coffee and returned for the departure time. Eventually I was able to go to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, which I did in fact visit last year but thought I would take a walk around. I could not find the bus stop on leaving after a quick 20 minute visit and so walked to Quan Thanh Temple at West Lake but with this shut and a poor day for looking at the view, I walked towards the bus stop only to see a bus just leaving. It was nearly a full hour until the next bus arrived and by the time I had returned to the lake at the end of the route, the full four hours had passed and it seemed I had achieved very little. The bus appeared to be setting its own timetable. Further, the lead on the earpieces was too short so that it was impossible to sit back on the seat, the commentary did not always synchronise with the time of arriving at sightseeing points and it sometimes jumped forwards by some seconds. If taking the four hour trip, some advance planning is necessary to make the most of this but that always assumes the bus does keep to a set timetable.

We got there on March 15 - just beating Corona Virus lock down. It was a nice way to orientate ourselves to attractions, north, south, east and west orientation. The sites had already been closed so the tapes were helpful. Commentary was fine. Bus stops are difficult to find without the map - which you only get the first time you board. could be made available online when you book. this would save time and frustration. Drivers miss stops - just drive straight past. Sometimes make their own routes / unexplained detours - not following maps and thereby missing stops - and waiting passengers. Rode straight past our drop off stop although we had told them we wanted to get off at liberty Hotel. Then just stopped where they were so we could get out and walk back. Does not yet meet international standards in terms of efficiency.
