Gorgeous temple in Chinatown that could easily be missed. This temple is dedicated to 'male' spirits, apparently. The building itself is stunningly designed and decorated is quite an opulent manner! Most definitely worth a visit! If anything but to see the super cool round doors!!

One of the more colorful and ornate pagodas in Cholon, the Phuoc An Hoi Quan Pagoda, was quite an eyeful. Spiral incense coils which hung from the ceiling were abundant. The vivid colors in the artwork, figures, woodwork and ornamentation was amazing. With as much foot traffic as generated by both tourists and locals alike, we were impressed with the cleanliness of the pagoda. We found the focus of this temple to be more militaristic than others we visited. The myriad of brass weaponry and decoration clearly spoke to the fact that the pagoda was dedicated to Chinese General Quan Cong. The statue of his sacred red horse in the temple was yet another example.

Fronted by greenery and opening to an interior of red, gold, green and yellow with elaborate brass ritual ornaments and weapons and the fine woodcarvings on the altars, walls, columns, hanging lanterns and incense coils. From the exterior, look for the ceramic scenes with the many small figurines, that decorate the roof. To the left of the entrance is a life-size figure of the sacred horse of Quan Cong. Behind the main altar, with its stone and brass incense braziers, is a statue of Quan Cong. Other shrines are dedicated to Ong Bon and Nam Ba Ngu Hanh.

Certainly worth a quick stop if you're out and about down here. Well done but small. Very beautiful inside. Make sure you come all the way in.

Not the most convenient place to get to but certainly not the hardest. It was definitely worth a trip there if you are a photo enthusiast or interested in this kind of Chinese influenced shrines.

Interesting place to visit, lots of ornamental details through the temple, nothing particularly outstanding compared to other similar ones. Worth a visit if you're in the Cholon area. I wouldn't stress out if you miss this though.

This Pagoda look small from outside but very beautiful inside with blaze of red, gold, green and yellow, this one is dating from 1902. Its ceiling is full hanging lanterns and incense coils and exterior decorated by some ceramic figures.

HI. What bus should I take from Ben Thanh , Dist. 1 area to reach Phuoc An Hoi Quan ? In the past I have taken the blue #1 bus to Cho Lon. Can I take this one again? Or is there another bus that will take me closer please?

We went to the pagoda today and brought some of our own incense and used it. But after a while we discovered that our sticks where missing... someone took them away. Did we use the wrong kind of incense?
