We stumbled upon Cyclo Resto on our way to the famous Ben Thanh. The restaurant wasn't much to look at, given its basic wooden furniture. Belie the simple interior of the restaurant are some delicious dishes that the chef made. We highly recommend the deep fried stuffed pumpkin flowers. Stuffed with minced pork, the flowers were fried to a crunch and moist on the inside. For those interested to recreate the culinary delights, the restaurant offers cooking classes while their menu contains recipes for each dish.

Our lovely guide Lin met us in our lobby and took us outside where hopped aboard our Cyclo’s. We had one each. Was so much fun and we really were amongst it all, as we were riding in the traffic. Took us to The Opera House, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame and The Post Office, as well as riding us around the city. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend for a fun half day tour.

I went for dinner at Cyclo Restro and found out that they also did cooking classes. We were blown away by the food so we thought it would be a great idea to learn it.

We were picked up in the morning at 9am and were taken to the local food market. Our guide showed us around the food vendors telling us what to buy, and what to look for to ensure it was the best quality and the best price.

We took our shopping back to the restaurant where we were taught knife skills before preparing the 4 dishes we had chosen. We were expertly guided by the legend that is Chef Vu about all the measurements and techniques in all dishes which we look forward to cooing back home!

Was a little boring, I thought our guide that was riding the bike was going to speak English, but was not the case , smoking all day was a little sickening aswell, only stopped at 2 places and rode down main traffic roads👎 was not my tour at all and was very overpriced! Won’t be back! Also was a mix up with hotels so arrived late and was also not 3 hours as specified.

Where to start! We went here after reading reviews on trip advisor, as we were after typical Vietnamese food (separate review). We found out that they did cooking classes and decided to sign up! Very fair price for the experience. We were picked up at our hotel and taken round the city to meet them at the market, where we bought necessary ingredients for the dishes we were making. We were taught how to choose the best ingredients/what to look for to identify fresh produce, etc.

We then went back to the restaurant to meet our chef, Vu. There were only two of us doing the course so it turned out to be quite a cosy and personal experience. Vu was incredible. No other way to put it. He was friendly, professional, passionate and a very, very good teacher. We learned knife skills, four different dishes, how to balance typical Vietnamese flavours, how to make vegetable decorations...and then sat down to enjoy our lavish feast! There was so much we couldn't finish it (and, I mean, we can EAT).

If you like cooking, eating, experiencing Vietnamese cuisine and hospitality, I cannot recommend this highly enough. I can't think of a better way to have spent our last morning in Vietnam.

We've come away with a deeper understanding of Vietnamese cooking, full bellies, many recipes, and a renewed passion for cooking.

Really enjoyed this trip to cu chi tunnels. Definitely learnt so much. Bring water as it is very hot and you're walking a lot as the tour only suplies 1 bottle otherwise you can buy from there. Only downside is that our tour guide Quyn was a little hard to understand.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable cooking class with Chef Vu and tour of local markets and the Chu Chi tunnels with Cyclo Resto. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all things Vietnam and provided lots of history and local information while we drove.
Chef Vu was very patient, explained everything very well, and had us cook up a wonderful multi course meal of locally sourced food including banana flower salad, beef short ribs, fried rice and stir fried morning glory that we enjoyed very much.
Getting a guided tour of local markets and harvesting some of the vegetables we would cook at a farm was an excellent experience too.
We now feel like we could at least attempt to cook some nice Vietnamese food without completely embarrassing ourselves. I especially liked learning how to make some fun garnishes and knife skills.
The Chu Chi tunnels was interesting, getting to see the conflict from the Vietnamese perspective and also understanding more of the history. Everyone was very nice, friendly and accommodating.

Located a few blocks from the Ben Than, Cyclo Resto offers a fixed menu dinner for approximately $7 per person. For our last dinner in Saigon we had
Cyclo Resto spring rolls
Green melon soup with shrimps
Stirred fried vegetable with pork
Stewed fishes in clay pot
Fried chicken with lemongrass
Steamed rice
Vietnamese egg coffee
We were happy with the food and as usual in Vietnam, there was too much of it.

Great day away from the busy city. Cooking Class is based at the Cu Chi area. Went to local wet market, then picked fresh herbs & vegetables from the local garden, then started the cooking Class. After Cooking Class went to Cu Chi Tunnels. Not a bad way to spend the day.
