Our family with older teens had a great time on our Grasshopper bicycle trips in Vietnam. The guides are fantastic, had Lena in Hoi An and Klas for Cu Chi Tunnels in Saigon. Highly recommend both but for different reasons: Hoi An bc it is an interesting and fun ride and Cu Chi since it's the best way to see the tunnels. The boat ride to Cu Chi is faster and IMO much nicer than a van, and we visited the quieter set of tunnels with very few tourists and an awesome, private guide (Klas). The start of the Cu Chi bike ride has some interesting stops, however it is hot and not much else to see during the second half. Bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent (for the tunnels). Also there are bats in the tunnels!

Cu Chi Tunnels mostly focus on historical features so the bike ride is not as beautiful as Hoi An Countryside. However, we will take note for the less sightseeing on the second half and try to find out more interesting things on this tour. Thanks for your feedback.

We took an escorted private E Bike Tour from Da Lat to Hoi An. This was the second time we have taken a Grasshopper Tour and we would now believe that they are simply the best cycling tour company in Vietnam.
Our itinerary was a seven day ride on E Bikes from Da Lat in the Highlands to the coastal city of Hoi An. We stopped at places like Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Thu Xa, Tam Thanh and Hoi An.
Our Guide, Mr Bao and our Driver Mr Tung were fantastic. They provided a superb service. Guide Bao took us to all sorts of interesting places and made sure that we kept to schedule without over exerting ourselves. Driver Tung was ever ready to assist at all times. It was a magic carpet ride.
The accommodation was 5 star quality and the catering gave us a great introduction into Vietnamese cuisine.
We were provided almost brand new Canondale E Bikes that performed well throughout.
Each day we were riding up to 80kms. If you take this tour I would suggest that you bring a gel seat for a bit of extra comfort..

This is the second day tour my wife and I have done with Grasshopper (the first was a sunrise tour of Angkor Wat + countryside bike ride). Grasshopper's tours are very well organized, from the pick-up in the morning, to the boat ride, to the snack and lunch break, and the bike ride and tour of the cu chi tunnels more generally, we were very happy with the entire day. Riding through the rice fields, forests, small villages, and along the canal was truly an amazing experience. Klas was a fantastic guide. He spoke great English and provided great insight into Vietnamese history and culture, in addition to extensive knowledge about the cu chi tunnels. Overall, I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys bike rides and wants to see the Vietnamese countryside. If there is one area for improvement, it would be to build in maybe 1 or 2 more stops on the bike ride for water breaks. It was over 90 degrees outside and we did two 45 minute sessions without stopping, so any additional break would have been welcome.

This was my 3rd trip with grasshoppers and it exceeded all my expectations. We did a 7 day tour Vietnam essentials. Our guides An and Bao were fantastic. The accommodation was the best. I used an e-bike which was a great way to see the countryside and gave added advantage on the Hai Van Pass. There was 14 of us on this trip all different nationalities and a mix of singles and friends. There was never a time you felt left out. Cannot recommend Grasshopper tours enough and I will definitely be doing another tour!

A ten day trip from Saigon to Siem Reap with seven days of cycling, including 7 days of accommodation on the ship. Excellent services on board. Entire trip is well organized. Tour/cycling guides from both countries are very professional, responsible and supportive. Any request for bike adjustment is promptly attended. Decent bicycles. Tour pace is well set. Every cycling stop, we were provided with ice-cooled towels. Adequate water/fruit/snacks/bathroom breaks. The supply is generous and with many varieties. Enjoyed the fruits so much. Hats off to the entire team.

Excellent 8 day boat & bike trip with the Grasshopper Team from Saigon to Phnom Penh then on to Angkor Wat. Grasshopper arranged an extension to Luang Prabang with a cycle day tour and 2 day slow boat up the Mekong to Chiang Khong. Highly recommend.

We are an Australian family of 4.Our guide Yen was brilliant. We had the best day, off the beaten track - this tour is a must. To ride through small farms, along and through the Mekong and be blessed with the joy of local families greeting you along the way. Yen filled our hearts and minds with local warmth and fabulous knowledge of the entire area- she really is an asset to you Grasshopper Tours. This whole day and all the wonderful little stops we made along the way was our favorite day in Ho Chi Minh by far... Just faultless- the entire experience. Thankyou .

We had a wonderful time exploring the Mekong Delta. Dat was a really great guy and showed us many things. He was very knowledgeable and we had fun time. The tour itself is very well organized. With the driver waiting for us at the different stops with cold towels and snacks waiting.
I also really loved that everything was eco- friendly. Apart for the plastic straw with the coconut we created no trash!!
I’d recommend this trip to everyone who wants to get out of the city and see the country side.

Tang was an excellent, knowledgeable, friendly guide for our party if 4. Visited several small businesses & farms along the way, but the organic chocolate farmer was especially impressing! We later visited Marou Chocolate Boutique in Hanoi. A special treat. Hotels were very comfortable with pools in which to cool off. Will definitely plan another Grasshopper Adventure & HIGHLY recommend!

We took our 14 year old son on a seven day family bike trip in Vietnam thru Grasshopper Tours. It was an excellent trip. Our local guide was very attentive, had a sense of humor and was proud of his country in a realistic way. The bike riding was not difficult, although it was tough with high heat and high humidity. We stayed in a variety of accomodations, with most being excellent, with good a/c and comfortable beds. Two hotels even had swimming pools. I would use Grasshopper again. It was a great adventure and I would recommend this tour company to everyone!

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your review of Grasshopper. We too are looking to do a bike trip with our two sons age 13 and 11. They have done some trail riding but not tons but are adventurous fit kids. Did you do other things on your tours as well ( like kayaking or anytihng else?) Where did you r ride go from and to? Thanks for your help

I work with Grasshopper Adventures in Vietnam. I appreciate the kind words from others in this thread. We have many tour offerings in VN including 2 & 3 day rides in the Mekong region. We ride on new mountain bikes but it's mostly cycling on flat paths and roads. Lots of countryside and village life. Happy to consult with you about our tours in the Mekong.
If you're looking for more off-road, mt bike adventures I would recommend you contact Phat Tire, Vietnam. They are a very good company and specialize in more challenging mountain bike type touring.
