After a year of research on a particular Vietnamese artist, I found that this gallery (and the Benh Thanh Art Gallery) carried a number of his works. We visited the gallery as soon as we arrived in HCMC. (Note: we looked like hobos - we had just gotten off of a six hour bus ride, and the associates could not have been lovelier to us.) We first walked in and looked around the walls of this seemingly small gallery and did not see any of the works by that particular artist, so I asked one of the associates if they had any of his pieces. She kindly handed me her iPad and told me to select the works I would like to see and they would have them brought into the showroom. While we were looking through the iPad (again, looking like hobos), they brought us bottles of water and led us to comfortable chairs to sit in while we perused the works. We agreed that we wanted to see three particular pieces in the collection, and were informed it would take about 10 minutes to bring the works into the gallery. As soon as they brought in the piece we ended up purchasing, I fell to my knees to see it closer on the floor, and an associate immediately relocated my chair and water for me! I knew we had to have this work (I literally started crying when I saw it). When we inquired about price, one associate accidentally misquoted the price by $1,000, and instead of saying "too bad, the higher price is what we're asking", they kindly gave us a 10% discount, almost entirely making up the difference. The purchasing process was seamless, the associates walked us through how they would ship the work to us, provide us with provenance, and walked us through the customs process. They even gave us gifts. I cannot say enough about the high standard of professionalism that each employee exhibited during our hour visit to this gallery.
