Just returned from a 4 country sweep through SE Asia and this was by far and away the best gift I could find to bring home to my friend. They do a good job of imitating the patterns of high end silk scarves from France & Italy (think Hermes & Ferragamo, they even use the signature orange boxes) without actually "knocking them off". I bought 9 small scarves women commonly use to tie on purse handles for $15 usd/each. The store was lovely, the salespeople were nice and plenty of cafe's/restaurants on the block with free wifi for my husband to patiently wait! My only complaint or warning would be to check the scarves carefully as some had flaws or stains. I found that I could ask about other colors or "new" ones still in the plastic in better shape. I also opted to keep them in the plastic even in the boxes on the transport home. As a collector of high end scarves, I give them 2 thumbs up considering it's Vietnam! My friends & family LOVED them! I bought a huge scarf for myself for under $100 usd (would have easily been $800 at Hermes)!

I visited Khai Silk yesterday while visiting Saigon, they have a beautiful selection of scarves all stunning, priced at $98 US and up, rather expensive as I was expecting $25/30 as stated in a previous review, upstairs they have a smaller selection of scarves at 50% off, I bought a beautiful pleated scarf for $42 US on sale, would have bought more but did not have the selection on sale.

I visited this shop in 2000 - so the 'when did you travel' does not give me an option to choose from. At the time I bought the most exquisite 'transparent' silk blouse in a milky champagne colour. As well as a silk dressing gown in an olive colour that I still wear to this day...I am sorry to now hear that the shop is experiencing problems selling non-authentic products ... I hope they can sort out their issues as I would love to visit it again some day.

We walked into the Dong Khoi store and the woman on the floor made a loud and abusive comment about us to her co worker. I understand enough Vietnamese to know what she was saying. We then turned around to leave, when she made another comment. This was about 2.30 pm on 15th Nov. Maybe a manager can work out who she was and teach her some manners.

If you know Vietnamese, you can read some articles about their products, which are made in China but have "Made in Vietnam" tag and they should be boycotted. If you expect to come out of their stores with a silk product, you should know that it might be not made in Vietnam as the advertising. Be wise! We have heard about that for long but never caught any case until now.

Ten years ago, we shopped this store and found items that were so very different than the other shops in Ho Chi Minh. This time, when we visited again, we went back and we were equally rewarded. This is not the typical souvenir shop selling scarfs and other items that are in every shop all over Vietnam. Nor is it a place to shop and expect to pay under $10 for items. It is a store for shoppers who want to find a designer quality scarf or handbag at a great price that you will not find in any other store in Vietnam. Every piece is unique to this store. However, there is always a section, sometimes on the third floor, that has sale items and that is where we look first. This trip we found three or four unusual scarfs, a few blouses, wine bags and other items at 80% off their regular price. I suggest you look here first and then look through the rest of the store. When you return home and see what you have bought I know you will be sorry you did not buy more, especially gifts for those special people at home.

The quality and the design of their silk scarves is beautiful . This is what you would expect in the top European shops. Cannot understand how anyone can complain about the prices , $25 for the most beautiful silk scarf is beyond cheap. The service is cool, they don't follow you around trying to sell , which is fine by me. I highly recommend it if you want to buy something special.

Not selling authentic made in VIet Nam products. They have been lied for years by selling us made in China products . I’m so disappointed because I can get the same thing in China for three time less than the money I paid for their products selling at their store. It’s a shame because it turns out we give gift to our friend with products from China which I would never buy anything from China for years

I know a certain type of people enjoys bad service (in the sense of snooty and uninterested) because they think this means it's high-class (while it only means that they are not). For them, I strongly recommend this place. If you want to buy nice silk items from a good shop, however, go to some of the competitors. They have some nice items especially if you like your design faded or loud, but the price-quality ratio surely is off. I checked out silk pajamas for me; there was one in my size, white, Chinese simple pattern, very thin and pretty much unusable, for $ 90 I think. But anyway, this is the kind of place where the service is so lousy that I would have probably said no even to a nice piece - the description of the reviewers who also disliked it can only be seconded. Had I bought the pajamas, I would have just ruined them by crying into them all night out of shame to have forced one of the 6 idle salespeople to abandon their status-updating...
