Spotted this place off the road when I saw people sitting on their balcony. We picked this place over L'Usine because the owner was so welcoming.
The banana cake is something else. Its a soft quiche like thing. With good Caramelized stuff. Not the spongey crap you get elsewhere.

We sat on the cafe's terrace, drank ice tea, and watched the monsoon rain lash it down. Great fun and reasonably priced. Inside is air conditioned.

Lovely coffees and a delicious 'flan' (more like a creme caramel). The ginger and lemongrass soda was also excellent. Inside is cool and air conditioned, but they also have a lovely balcony terrace which we'd have used if we hadn't been quite so hot!
The staff were all very sweet and kind, and our son played with the little girl of one of the chefs so we felt very relaxed and welcome.

Good dessert and delicious home made food (banana cake, Catina beef noodle). Nice view from the balcony. I often go there at the weekend and enjoy the early morning with my friends. We sit at the balcony, looking down to Dong Khoi Street (Catina is its old name) and listen the music from the Opera house. It's a lively atmosphere. The interior design is warm and pretty.

A quiet little place to get an ice coffee and banana cake. Pleasant music at relaxing decibel level.

We went here for breakfast, and this spacious café is a good alternative to L'Usine in the same back alley. They have a decent menu, with friendly staff and some flexibility for special requests. Also has a more independent, less "chainy" feel about it. Just don't expect service to be very quick, or that they have everything on the menu.

While this café is nicely located, with a balcony, and rather secluded, the menu's pricing is terrible with regards to the quality of food and drink we got.
A bahn mi, Vietnam's common 20-30k street food sandwich, here costs 80k and has much less quality filling than street vendors offer. The pork presented in the baguette was purely crispy fat.
The fresh springrolls were stuffed with fatty french saucisson slices (very strange choice) and the rice paper was unpleasantly glutinous. Served with an unappealing peanut dressing, they were altogether very disappointing.
Drinks were highly priced but quality/quantity was decent - only the coconut was once again not even as good as what you can buy on the street for half the price.
The setting is great though, maybe a bit too kitsch but relaxing, and staff are polite and smiley.
We would only come back for a small drink on the balcony.

Pleasantly surprised by this cafe's food - they are delicious. We tried the fried sticky rice with cotton pork, roast pork bread and vermicelli with beef and pineapple soup. Food presentation is also very nice.
However, portion isn't very big and abit on the pricier side.
Overall, instead of having standard international breakfast fare in the hotels, this café offers a nice alternative for getting local fare in the morning.
