Not a good tailoring

They did a suit for me and I had to bring some place else to fix it. They tried to redo 3 times and result was still unacceptable. Nice people, but I would try some place else.

My friend, mum and i have used Bao Silk for 8 years to tailor our dresses -we visit them annually. We stuck with Loan, the tailor because she has not changed her prices since our day 1, provides honest feedback on what looks good and what we should not do, instead of aiming to profit as much as possible from us. I also made my wedding dress with her (shows how much trust i have in her). It was done within 2 days, and perfectly fits me at the first fitting. I have tried all other tailors at De Tham but most either require at least 4-5 fittings, charge ridiculous prices e.g. $35 per dress, lousy stitching or gave me wrong dresses at the end.

Ditto to 68WorldTraveler68's review. Just another generic shop with a very limited selection of fabric.

Found another shop a few doors down (Tuyet Nhi Silk) with some modern fabric selections where I ended up making the following:

1 ao dai - 850 VND
4 blouses - 360 VND each
1 dress - 625 VND

I was told by local family that their prices were a bit on the higher side since it was catered to foreigners, but we didn't have much time and they had a decent selection of fabrics. The ao dai was made to my own specifications and the blouses/dress were exact duplicates of originals that I had brought with me. I have to give them props for their quality, but was pretty pissed with their delivery time. My ao dai came back 1.5 days later and the blouses/dress were 2 days over due.

At the end of the day, I was happy with the results, found the prices were reasonable, and accomplished my mission. If you give yourself a few extra days for delivery and fitting, Nguyet Nhi is not a bad choice.

Highly recommend this tailor
I went here with a picture of a winter coat and she made it in 2 days for the price of $100. As far as I see, it is impeccable and she maid it just as my I wanted. Couldn't be more satisfied and thankful!

Terrible experience

I needed to have one shirt made for an interview and turned to Bao Silk based on the good reviews. I explained that I needed it rather quickly with only a day and a half turnaround time. She told me that it would be fine and to come back the next day at 8pm.

I arrived at 8pm, but she was not there and neither was my shirt. The other woman working in the shop informed me that they forgot about my appointment, she called the tailor to confirm that my shirt would be ready the next day, and told me to come back at 8:30am the following day.

I returned the next day at 8:30am and was then told that the tailor wouldn't be in with my shirt until 9am. I was slightly upset, but then I came back at 9am and was told that the tailor had actually not had electricity so my shirt was never made.

I understand that powercuts happen often here, but to first be forgotten about and then given false hope multiple times is just unprofessional. This was now one hour before my interview, so I was already stressed out and this experience did not help at all. I was very hopeful of this place, but I will never go back to Bao Silk.

I have been coming to Lo An since November 2013. I have an average of three-five pieces made each month including: skirts shorts, shirts, playsuits, jumpsuits, dresses, kimono jackets, etc. and there has only been one piece that I flat-out disliked (I didn't choose my own material in a rush and suffered because of it).

Usually, I choose my own material. First, I stop by to ask Lo An how much I will need, then I head to the stores/markets and bring it to her and she has things ready for me to try on anywhere between two days and one week (depending on how much I'm asking for and the complexity of the tailoring).

The pricing is very reasonable and the more often you go/ the more pieces you order, the better deals you will get. I would highly recommend it.

My friend and I got 2 shirts each of the highest quality. For VDN 350k (£10/EUR 12) they are such good value for money. Turnaround time was approx. 24h which was great for 4 shirts!

Ms Loan was great with choosing the fabric and style.

For all you frenchies, Loan speaks fluent french (and english).

Not quite what was expected.

I visited this store based on TA good reviews and it turned out to be a waste of my cab fare to the backpackers district. First of all the store looks nothing like the picture. It is small and dusty indistinguishable from the other zillion stores selling the same kind of items except for the nice wooden sign. The items on sale are uninteresting and the fabric available is quite visibly of inferior quality. The lady tending to the store was far from friendly and seemed more concerned by her smartphone than assisting clients. Does not get my vote I am afraid.

My brother Luke lives in HCMC and took me here last year, I had 6 shirts made which are superb quality and great to iron. I went back a few weeks ago and had even more made, you will not be disappointed. The owner is a lovely lady who really looks after you
