Enjoyed the birdwatching trip at the local park in the city. The park was thankfully quiet and not crowded, unlike the Botanic Garden and Zoo which was noisy and overly crowded. I managed to spot a few wild birds which was the intention of this visit. It was a short trip so we managed to squeeze in some time for the park.

While Ho Chi Minh City is a lively city with lots to offer, sometimes the noise and polluted air can be too much to handle. Tao Dan Park, a huge, lush space right at the centre of HCMC, is a perfect option. This urban oasis is serene (relatively), peaceful and pleasant for a stroll. It is also a popular hangout place among locals.

The park is a haven of peace in a bustling, noisy, crowded city. Heavily used for all kinds fitness activity, fan dancing and photography.Managed to see several interesting bird species including Green pigeon, Coppersmith barbet and Asian Koel. Avoid Bird cafe unless you enjoy caged wild birds! Enormous trees gave wonderful shade in the heat. City dwellers are desperate for green spaces and both days met bird and wildlife photographers. Lily pond area is so relaxing

The park are ok, it's cost $30,000 dong to entry... to help maintenance the park.
The have a large collection of Bonzai competition few weeks before it's open to public, lack of flowers competition this year, the animals displayed composed of real and plastic flowers... The area for eateries are a little overwhelmed, and the merchandise are feel cheaply made.
Overall I'm a little disappointed... Compared with the years past.

What a great park with awesome facilities for kids.
Large playground with exercise equipment galore.
Amazing.
Maintenance might be a little better but a green Oasis for all to use in the middle of a city.
You forget that you are surrounded by towering buildings.
Absolutely loved it. So did the kids.

We walked around this park during our last morning in Ho Chi Minh City and it was quite lovely. Lots of statues, plants, and flowers. A nice break from the chaos of the city. Close to Independence Palace.

We went to this park after our visit to War Remnants Museum. It's less than a km from the museum so you can consider walking to the park if suitable.
Nicely maintained park with exercising equipment in the open. Good to see people walking, jogging and exercising there. You can rest and get some fresh air in the middle of the city after a tiring tour.

A really good park in HCMC not as large as some others but definitely worth visiting. Lots of sculptures , Plenty of benches, children's play area, clean toilets, Lots of exercise machines . Open throughout the day. Good for just lazing around or get that workout.

This was a pleasant surprise. In the middle of crazy Saigon are all these beautifully maintained green spaces with paths, coffee shops, things for kids and exercise stations. So green and peaceful to walk through to catch your breathe and a few degrees cooler which is nice. Lots of people there sitting with takeaway drinks catching up with friends. A really nice spot.

They were setting up the annual Tet festival so some areas might be closed a few days ago.
It reopened yesterday for the festival.
Come and enjoy.
Cheers

Hi! If we go on a Monday, do the locals bring their birds along? Or is this only on Sundays?
Written August 11, 2018
We visited on Sunday, pretty sure there are more birds on weekends, sorry not sure about weekdays

Can children play on the lawn?
Last time we visited a park we could not play ball or play on the grass at all because the cops did not agree to that

Do the people gather with the caged birds every morning or just at weekends? We were planning to visit the on a Monday. Also how late can you arrive to see this?
Written February 19, 2017

what is the fee of this park ? and is it good to visit after sunset ?
Written February 16, 2017
Hi there, the entry is free. I would recommend visiting the park in the early mornings as that's when all the activity takes place. After sunset I'd recommend booking a street food tour on the scouters. there are a number of great providers - I booked with Saigon Tours from memory. One of the highlights of my trip to Ho Chi Minh city.
