For those photographer, this is a nice spot for you to take great picture!
Vinh Nghiem Pagoda ( Kanji :永严寺) is a beauty spots, is located at 339 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street (near the Justice), in Ward 7, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City ,Vietnam.

Just ask a taxi driver, for sure they will able to bring you there. If you travel from District 1 to ther would take about VND 150,000 ++ on taxi fee.

There are 3 section as:
1) Avalokitesvara Tower on the left (from looking at the port) generators, including 7 floors, high near 40 m , the temple was built at the same time.
2) Tower Relic Community building behind the left (from the port to look at) generator, with 4 floors, 25 meters high built in 1982, completed in 1984.
3) Vinh Nghiem stone tower (past the gate, the tower on the right) was inaugurated in December of 2003 , 14 meters high, the tower is the church trying to Venerable Thich Thanh Kiem, one of the monks who founded the temple.

For this temple, open hour from morning 8am till 5pm on everyday. But on certain day such as:
1) 1st day & 15th day base on Chinese lunar calender close at 18:30pm
2) 8th day & 23rd day base on Chinese lunar calender, close at 1400pm
3) 14th day & 29th day base on Chinese Lunar calender, close at 1630pm.
Before travel to there, please check with the local people.

This was a very nice temple and pagoda. We were lucky enough to be there when a monk was chanting which is such a beautiful sound. A little out of the way from the main tourist track, but taxis are cheap and its worth the time and effort.

Large relatively new temple
We visited during a prayer session and how interesting was that !!
Made welcome and allowed to still walk around temple which we did with due respect to the prayer meeting
Incredible effigies - so ornate and detailed
Mountains of donated food gifts of all values
Such a lovely place and atmosphere
A definite place to see
Free to visit with donation box
Very worthwhile in my opinion

one of the best temples to visit in Ho Chi Minh City, as you walk through the framed gateway ,take a little glance to the left , and you will see a cage of birds ,you can buy one to let it free ,a small token of Budaism belief . In front of you is a large standing monument of Buddha and you take the stairs to the large pagoda ,beautifully decorated, i also like the large thunder pots,Ding vessels as you walk to the temple entrance , Take your shoes off and step into ,a wonderful and spiritual temple , so ornate and amazingly decorate , iam not kidding this temple is one of the best you will come across. Huge statues of Buddha and reliefs dominate the inner shrine, with its offerings laid out in front, carry on walking around the back and there are more statues and paintings, offerings some very old indeed , The whole temple is so beautifully laid out and adorned with spiritual relief ,such a calming and peaceful place ,it would be a shame to miss it ,

We took a taxi from the Novotel Hotel and it was great experience. The place was truly local spot and we recognized that the day we came is the first day of local's September. People came here to pray and relax.

Quick uber trip to D3 to visit the Vinh Nghiem pagoda. And we weren't disappointed.

(There's a few other things to visit close by like the War Remnants museum, pink cathedral and Women museum etc and Mam Vietnamese restaurant).

Very spiritual, take your shoes off and you can wander all around it. You are able to taller photos - but don't be obvious in front of everyone.

If you got a good spiritual thought, like we all did, make a small donation (from 5,000VND TO 50,000 VND). Even light your own incense.

When leaving (or to get there) you can follow the river across the road...

Firstly, if you are a tourist - Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is better than Jade Emperor Pagoda. I have no idea why the other one is so popular with tourists, it's quite dirty & has many pigeons.

Vinh Nghiem is very beautiful and spiritual. You can take off your shoes and explore inside. You will see monks praying to a gold statue of the Buddha.

Take a walk along the river and discover this small magical place.

We came here to visit as we heard about this temple. However, since we came in on a weekday, without no big ceremony, there was not much people around. Even though we wercalm and stayed by a sidewalk to watch the temple, were were kicked out by a monk. I think he only wanted to host people who donated money to the temple, not simple visitors like us. Recommend NO on this temple.

Unfortunately when we went to visit this place there was a certain Francois Hollande, the French President, was visiting and it wasn't accessible to the public for the duration of his visit. There was a lot of security around and you couldn't really get close to the temple. From the outside it looks impressive and big and I am sure it would be worth a visit. I just took some photos from across the street.
