We are a family of 4 with two children ages 10 and 13 and we did the day tour because our sons are not adventurous eaters. We were a little nervous for our boys to be on the back of scooters in a busy city, but it was very safe. Because there are so many scooters, the traffic doesn't move fast. Our tour guides also drive very safely.
XO Tours is a fun and convenient way to see all the sites of HCM City. Our tour guides spoke excellent English and were very knowledgeable and friendly. They happily answered my numerous questions. They were flexible in taking us to see some things that weren't on the planned agenda.
The tour included quite a few drinks and tropical fruits. I highly recommend zipping around HCM City on scooters with XO Tours rather than in a car or bus.

This is a fantastic tour if you want to see some areas of Saigon you might not visit, learn about its history from an entertaining tour guide, and stop off at local eateries to taste some regional specialities. My fifteen-year-old son and I had an absolute blast. The wonderful women who picked us up from our hotel and drove us around the city on the back of their scooters were a total delight. They spoke great English and we had fascinating conversations while being ferried from one destination to another. All the food we tried was delicious and we enjoyed the company of the other participants. XO Tours really have captured the market for this kind of foodie tour and I can't imagine any way they could have made it better. It's an unbelievable thrill to whizz about by night in the crazy traffic and feel part of the buzz as you watch the city spin past you. This was one of the highlights of our time in Saigon so if you're a foodie and love the idea of getting out and about on the back of a scooter, don't hesitate — book now!

We booked the tour so that we would arrive at our lodging in Vietnam just before they came to pick us up. Instead of the excessive planning to make our first evening perfect, we left it in the hands of our tour guides. The evening food tour was perfect. The ladies picked us up, taught us how to stay safe on the motorbikes and off we went! Riding through Ho Chi Minh during golden hour sunset on a scooter was the most magical experience. I never felt unsafe, but instead fully exhilarated. I had the time of my life and met some other great couples on the tour. Having the different food on the tour introduced us to how to order what during our stay, pushed our boundaries with new options, and found new favorites. One of the ladies in our group was Vegetarian and it seemed that they took very good care of her. I wouldn't go with anyone else. They were simply the best ❤️

We enjoyed the tour however it perhaps didn't fully meet out expectations and was we felt overpriced compared to another similar (but personal tour) we had done in Hanoi.
The positives were , the ladies who drove the bikes were all really friendly and personable and drove really well in the chaotic Saigon traffic.
It was great to see Saigon from the back of a bike and be part of the traffic throng (which has to be seen to be believed). The tour also catered efficiently to my husband and I who don't eat meat.
Negatives were that firstly it was overpriced for what we got, we paid almost half for a similar tour of similar length with food in Hanoi.
We personally didn't enjoy the big group thing and would have preferred a smaller intimate group size.
We didn't actually think the food was as good as a lot of the street food we had already had during our couple of weeks in Vietnam.
Didn't think the 2 stops that weren't at restaurants were that interesting .
It may be that based on previous reviews our expectations were just too high, an enjoyable evening out but definitely not the highlight of our trip.

Hi Bridget,
Thank you for your honest review. We try our best to provide an unforgettable experience to all our guests, however everyone has different tastes as expectations.
Please also keep in mind that XO Tours is one of the few motorbike tours in Vietnam that operate legally, with tour guides and leaders that have international tour guide licenses. Being legal entails paying taxes, insurance, etc. that non-legal businesses don't have to deal with. If you get into an accident while on one of these other tours, your travel insurance will most likely not cover you. XO Tours also provides every single guests $10,000 USD accident insurance coverage and we have a team of security and support staff that follows every tour, which we believe makes XO Tours the safest possible way to experience the motorbike culture in Vietnam. You would not get any of these additional safety features with the cheap motorbike tours.
Additionally, we pay our staff the highest wages in Vietnam because want to keep them working for us as long as possible. Most other tours pay their drivers peanuts and expect the travelers to subsidize their earnings through tips.
In regards to the food, you probably noticed that you had not been exposed to any of the dishes you were offered on the tour. That's because we are doing our best to provide non-typical Vietnamese dishes at all the other food tours in Vietnam serve. We love Pho, Banh Mi Sandwiches, Banh Xeo, etc. as much as the next person however, those dishes are easily found everywhere in Vietnam and at XO Tour we are aiming to provide our guests with a different experience.
As for the group size, we do mention on our website, that our tours are by default group tours, which most of our guests love as they get to mingle with other like-minded travelers. We do offer a private tour option for an additional fee for guests that do not want to join the group.

If like us you have a limited amount of time in HCMC but want to get to get a real feel for the place this is a must. There were a few things I was hesitant about when booking so will focus on those....the booking was handled very promptly and professionally. We were notified of exactly when we would be picked up. A note was taken of any allergies and intolerances and this was handled very well, there was always an alternative available for us when appropriate. At no time was there any attempt to sell you any extras, what we paid covered the whole evening.
Then the evening itself. The girls were waiting as promised outside our hotel. They are the highlight of the evening, Nga and Nhung(2) were so impressive. They are charming, intelligent smart women and it was a pleasure to spend an evening in their company. The way in which they negotiate the traffic is a sight to behold. I was really apprehensive as to what it was going to be like on the back of the scooter in the traffic but they are such confident riders I ended up loving it. The tour involved meeting up with 6 others at the first food stop. The food at all the stops was good (the bun bo hue was superb) and whilst there were some interesting local delicacies on offer there were explained to you and there was no pressure to try if you didn't want to. There are a couple of of non food stops to show you different aspects of HCMC. Quang the tour lead did a great job of explaining where we were and what its significance was. The Chinese food market was fascinating. It says a lot that the tour lasted about 4 1/2 hours but it flew by. As a bonus we were sent some photographs of the evening the following day. Oh and bye the way no dodgy tummy the following day !
Thanks to Nga, Nhung and Quang for such a memorable evening.

Me and my boyfriend got the foodie tour recommended by a couple we met in Vietnam. We were a bit unsure if we should do it, because it was a bit expensive. But we do not regret doing it. It was such a good night, and it went by too fast. My driver Lam, was really sweet, and very welcoming. We talked a lot, and it was so interesting to hear about Vietnam-life and culture from her. All the drivers were very good at maneuvering in the traffic and I felt safe the entire trip. The food was also very good. I would highly recommend going on this trip.

One of the best decisions of our vacation was to go on this street food tour. Given the incredible traffic chaos with all the scooters I was nervous at first, but "Tiny", my driver put me at ease with her skilled driving ability. I never would of had the experience riding a scooter otherwise. Liked how we enjoyed food in local environments. There was soooo much food too...Tiny also continued to engage with my while driving, telling me stories and information of the areas we drove by. Definitely do not miss this experience!!!

We did the XO Foodie Tour.. it was a little more expensive than most others, but there is no way you can go to Saigon and not do it. We were a family of 4 (19 and 15 yr old boys) and it was brilliant. Amazing food, we were so full at the end.. the girls were amazing tour guides and the fun of riding thru HCMC on the back of a bike is something that has to be experienced to be believed. If you love your food, then do this!! Also, because the tour is 4.5 hours long, there is time between each stop to let the food go down as well as learn more about the city... oh, and all drinks are included.. it is well worth it!!!

XO Tours was every bit as good as expected. I had been referred by a friend who recommended XO as a safe, diverse and interesting tour of Saigon's excellent food scene. My guide Anne provided lots of interesting historical and cultural information, and the stops at different parts of the city gave a really great overview. We visited 7 districts in total, so it was a great way to get outside district 1. The food was great, the games were fun and the service was top notch!

My wife and I chose a personal tour (no one else in the group) and did the "Tour By Night" package. We had an incredible and memorable experience, thanks to our tour guides Chau and Lam. At the end of the evening, we both agreed that it was an amazing way to remember our time in Vietnam.
My wife was a little apprehensive about zipping through traffic on the back of a scooter but that eased after a few minutes on the road. We felt safe and well taken care of from the moment our tour started. Hours later, it felt so natural being on a bike that it felt strange going back to being just pedestrians.
Chau and Lam were engaging, conversational hosts. I've heard the XO Girls described as "sassy" - and there were definitely a lot of humorous moments, with Chau in particular demonstrating a dry wit. We weren't always sure when she was joking or being serious! I had a ton of fun just chatting over the bustle of the traffic as we went from district to district. The discussion around the economics between Districts 2, 6 and 7 were particularly palpable.
Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the food stops were delicious and varied. It was just the right amount to give us a "snapshot" of the local cuisine. For us at least, we got a tasty meal and didn't necessarily miss the more extravagant "Food Tour" package.

How far ahead do you need to book? I'm worried we might be too tired to do this the day we arrive but don't want to miss out if we have the energy !
Written January 9, 2020
Hi Laura,
As our previously guests kindly mentioned, we would recommend booking a few days ahead if possible, to increase the likelihood we will have availability.
As long as we still have availability however, we do accept bookings on the same day of the tour.

Are your tours only night tours?
What’s the schedule?
Written November 6, 2019
They have all sorts of tours, check out their website, it’s all there
Written December 15, 2019
It's not really meant to be a sightseeing tour. It's meant to expose you to types of Vietnamese food you might not try otherwise. You can certainly take photos on the stops you do make, but if you're hoping to snap photos of some of the area's iconic sights, this isn't the tour for you. That said, the food tour does have a tour guide walking around and taking photos of you and the group and you with your drivers. He then compiles them in Dropbox and sends you a link, which is awesome. To be fair, these are night time tours, so even if they did stop for you to take photos, there wouldn't be ideal lighting anyway. You also won't want to have your phone or camera out while you're on the back of the motorbike because there's a lot of snatching that goes on. People ride by and snatch them right out of tourists' hands. They especially go for iPhones. (They call it "Apple picking." Cute, but not if it happens to you.)

I am travelling with my 84 year old mother, she is fully mobile- how safe is it for her? Is there a bike with a small backrest, I’m just worried about the strength of her grip to hold on when the bike is taking off. Also I’ve got a fat head do you have big size helmets? Cheers
Written July 23, 2019
For the helmet, they have bigger sized ones because we travelled with one person with a similar requirement and they were able to provide this protective headgear. As for your 84-yr old mother, I think it would be better to check with the tour operators directly whether they have bikes with backrest. I have seen locals travelling on motorbikes who are probably same age but I guess they are quite familiar with this transportation so it is not an issue.

The helmets are not a problem, plenty of room for a big head.
Your mum can hold onto the driver's shoulders (only males are not allowed to do that) and I would strongly recommend that as sometimes they have to stop suddenly.
Have fun!

Hello wanting to know prices for a tour for my husband and me early September. Thank you
Written June 6, 2018
Hi kcios!
We currently offer 4 different tours around the Ho Chi Minh City area:
1. "The Sights" (3.5 Hours, $48 USD or 1,080,000 VND per person, tour starts at 8:30am) - This is a morning city tour that offers a good mix between some of the most popular tourist attractions in the city and some lesser known sites. You'll learn some interesting history and cultural insights from the unique perspectives of our guides.
2. "Shopping Spree" (3 Hours, $48 USD or 1,080,000 VND per person, tours starts at 10am) - There is no set route for this tour. The places we visit depends on the things you wish to buy. Our guides knows the best shopping locales in the city, and they can help bargain with the vendors to get you the best possible prices. This tour requires a minimum of 2 pax to book.
3. "Saigon by Night" (3 Hours, $48 USD or 1,080,000 VND per person, tour starts at 6pm) - This is a great tour for guests that want to get outside of the tourist areas and see how the locals live, work and eat. You'll get to see 5 districts that most tourists don't get to see. You also get to chose one local street food dish out of 3 options.
4. "The Foodie" (4.5 Hours, $75 USD or 1,687,500 VND per person, tour starts at 5:30pm) - By far our most popular tour, "The Foodie" is an extended and much better version of our popular "Saigon by Night" tour. Since this tour is 2 hours longer than the "Saigon by Night" tour, you'll get to go much further into some of the local neighborhoods and of course eat a lot more food.
If you decide you wish to book one or more of our tours, you can easily do using the booking form on our website at:
