We had a great night out. Pick up from hotel was prompt and staff were welcoming. Food was good and drink prices were what you would expect to pay on a boat. Cruising down the river was excellent. Tables were organised so that everyone has an open air window. Would highly recommend

BONSAI CRUISES. [www.bonsaicruise.com.vn] Dec 2014, 7th.
About 40USD/pp dinner cruise on the Saigon river which was a wonderful, enjoyable, memorable, night with a superb and impressive international/asian buffet spread of hot and cold dishes, far too many to detail, some of which are steaks, hams, grilled chickens, sautéed fish, prawns, oysters, calamari. stir-fries, salads, sushi, garlic breads, sweets. A selection of beers, cocktails, wines, wine coolers, available at extra cost.

Pre-cruise photographs taken for customers posing with staff in traditional Vietnamese costumes and framed for purchase for a good souvenir, if you wish. Comfortable seating on board. Entertainment constantly with a very good band and 2 attractive Viet singers singing popular lively, romantic songs in Viet/English/Russian, traditional Viet dances, Philippine dance show, magician. Dance to popular English songs. The table service is 4 star excellence, with superb attentive English speaking ladies. Don’t miss it. A very good, well organised event. All-in-all a very satisfying night of dining and entertainment.

There are 3 Saigon dinner cruise (Evening tour): Saigon Cruise, Indochina Cruise, Bonsai Cruise. We took the Saigon Cruise with Vietnamese and Western set menu. Enjoy the scrumptious Vietnamese cuisine on this magical dinner cruise aboard a traditional-style Dragon boat. Start trip at 715pm. End trip at 930pm.

Most of the dishes that were named 'chickpea salad' or 'fresh springrolls with tofu' actually had chicken in them. After getting al sorts of meats on my plate I lost my appetite. Our waiter was excellent, atmosphere was lovely and the boat was beautiful. Would recommend for omnivores but for vegetarians/vegans the pricinig is way toi steep and the products are named misleadingly, probs not on purpose but still.

I do not usually write negative reviews but I feel we need to balance this attractions comments. It was pure tacky from start to finish. The food was distinctly average and the drinks were twice as much as most bars and restaurants in the city. We also paid $80 for two for the trip which you would expect a few different courses not just a cheap buffet.

The entertainment started well with some traditional Vietnamese music and dance before turning into some poor x-factor meets cruise ship cabaret and finishing with an Abba medley…..
Having said all this I would give it one star for the magician and one star for the cocktails and if you are between the ages of 5-12 and 50- 70 you will probably have enjoyed it. That said I don’t think 5-12 year old me would have rated it any better and I am hoping that in 25 years the same is true.
If you want a true Vietnamese experience then head to haung lai where you will be served by street kids who have the opportunity to go to school and work through this project. The food is exceptional too

Well.......certainly not the best trip I have been on! Unfortunately we were on a boat where 90% of the guests were celebrating something and appeared to be one large company. The result was they simply took over the evening. We, along with 6 other tables were relegated to the back of the boat in the bar area, meaning that we couldn't see any of the entertainment. Although this could be considered a good thing, as we had to sit through a couple of company/thank-you speeches from the previously mentioned party, and then had to endure the other guests using the evening to practise their (poor) karaoke skills. They even took the microphones from the professionals during several songs. Delightful. Personally, I don't think other bookings should be taken, if the majority of guests are for a party/company/celebration as I simply felt like I was gate crashing a really bad work conference, but I had personally paid for it!! So apart from these specific issues, what did I think of the tour? Well, to be honest I was disappointed at the price if the drinks......hugely over-priced. The food was okay, and clearly freshly prepared, but it was nothing special in terms of choice. Basically a mediocre buffet. Finally, the views........well I am really not sure what I was supposed to be looking at. We went through some docks for about 45 mins, then turned around and went back. It got better the second half with some lovely city lights on display. However when I looked from our hotel afterwards we had literally gone no distance at all in 2 hours, it genuinely could have been walked in half the time. Unfortunately I would not recommend this trip, even if we hadn't had the private party issues, which just made the evening more painful!

Bonsai Dinner Cruise was one of the best dinner cruise I've been on. We had a photo op before boarding the boat with their staff dressed in traditional vietnamese style. Welcome drinks were served once we were seated. The buffet spread was superb! (I had four helpings of almost all the dishes that was on the buffet table hehe) There were different kinds of entertainment and a magician as well! just a note bring cash as they don't accept credit cards on board. All in all, a great experience.

Went on this dinner cruise at the end of June, boat cruised up and down the river a few times and was scenic if you were fortunate enough to be seated on the chairs facing out to the river rather than the ones we were placed on which looked inwards to the buffet. Lots of entertainment music dancing etc throughout the night which was very loud therefore limiting ability for conversation. Buffet meal was plentiful but typical of buffet food, quality ok but not wow. I felt the cruise was pricey and would recommend to others to choose a nice riverside restaurant for better value.

The prospect of taking a cruise on New Year's Eve was interesting. Avoiding the crushing crowds of Saigon while sipping a cocktail and watching the fireworks on the Saigon River made it even more appealing.

First, the positives. The staff was wonderful given what they had to work with. Through the fault of poor timing, we actually found ourselves behind the fireworks barge, which actually turned out to be a good vantage point. Too bad the events that were actually planned didn't have a similarly beneficial outcome.

Let's start with the food. We're in Vietnam. Saigon is known as a foodie city. Perhaps that doesnt extend to offshore. The presentation was actually quite good for a buffet, but it was some of the blandest, most flavorless food in the entire city.

The Filipino band playing evening music were doing their best...to be heard in Manilla. The only thing that distracted from the drummer's astounding inability to maintain a consistent beat was the tuneless singing that made me wish I hadn't forgotten my ear plugs. Dinner conversation was impossible. Enjoying the music was equally impossible since the train wreck of cover songs was so constant.

Interim breaks were granted to the diners only to be consumed with a distracting troop of girls dancing to a variety of styles -- ranging from Bollywood to Carrie Underwood. All positively goofy.

The Dragon show was performed by some of the most disinterested performs I've witnessed. The boat docked, people disembarked and watched a quasi-interesting performance worthy of a couple of pictures, but it was 5 minutes of entertainment crammed into 45 minutes.

The countdown to the new year was completely missed -- probably because the wailing of the band ruptured the space-time continuum, and the anchoring of the ship a mere meter away from an imposing Abu Dhabi flagged cargo vessel definitely detracted from the sites.

I'm sure this is a much better cruise during the day, but I won't be in line to test that theory.

I had been on this cruise several times before and always impressed with the food, service, entertainment and value! So we booked our group of 20 people for their farewell tour dinner and it was a great night out! Too many amazing dishes to try including the awesome desserts! This dining cruise is a must for anyone on holiday in Saigon!
