- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia20,003 contributions(Un)ordinary shopping streetI usually rate such streets as average (3 stars), because they're present in every city in the world. It's a classic shopping street with mainly haute couture shops, luxury hotels,..etc However, here in HCMC I raised to 4 stars, due to unusual mixture of French colonial legacy mixed with Vietnam hustle and bustle, topped with some ultra modern steel and glass high rises around. Interesting to walk through down to Saigon river.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 28, 2024

Saigon Notre Dame Cathdral: Attended mass here and then visited attractions located near it such as the Post Office, City Hall, Indenpendence Square, etc. Highly recommended to visit it!Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 2, 2024
- Wonder A421 contributionsColourful Shopping Street in HCMCDong Khoi Street is famous for its colourful shopping zone in HCMC. Standing at its starting point, Lam Son Square is famous for its embroidered tablecoths and napkins. Prices offered in this area are well within one's budget and varieties. Exclusive custom-made silk garments are also being offered by the shops and the quality can be comparable to those in Singapore or Hong Kong. The fantastic concordance of colors and intricate workmanship of the dress materials are worth mentioning. Besides silk garments and embroidered tablecoths and napkins, shawls, purses and silk scarves are also worth getting. There is also a wide variety of handbags made of different materials. Thus, it is impossible to slow down the frenetic pace on this street.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 12, 2024

Dong Khoi Street is probably one of the busiest roads in Ho Chi Minh City.
It extends between the Nguen Du Street and Ton Duc Thang Street. It was flanked by many elegant French colonial style buildings. Many famous restaurants and luxurious hotels are located here.
High-end shopping plazas and small local shops coexist side by side along the street and one can get luxury items to local souvenirs from one of the many quaint local stores.
Other well known landmark buildings in the street are the Saigon Notre Dame Basilica, the Saigon Opera House, and the Central Post Office are all around 10mins of walk.
Many people and high traffic are here all day long and provided a energetic vibes of the city!

Dong Khoi, formerly Catinat Street (in french times) is THE walk for this city. The old sites are the true highlights of the old town. Stop for coffee at either the Majestic or the Continental, or even both. Then cocktails at the Bitexco Tower near the river

Beautiful wide boulevard built during the French colonial period becomes a gathering place in the median of the boulevard. Luxury shops and hotels and restaurants line the streets.
City Hall, the Opera House and other French architecture can be seen here.
The famed hotel The Majestic Hotel still stands proudly on the waterfront.
One of the most beautiful lobbies can be seen at The Reverie Hotel.
Worth seeing and photographing!

As the lunar new year approaches many parts of Saigon are decorated to the max. This street was all lit up at night and is a pleasant walk and gives you many chances to make that dreaded challenge of crossing the road. Pick your moment and cross steadily without hesitation. The drivers will adjust to you as long as they know what you are doing. If you hesitate and stop and start then there is more of a chance of something bad happening.

It was the first time in Ho Chi Minh City in six years that the coronavirus opened. I've done most of my shopping on Dong Khoi Street before, so I've made it a hotel on Dong Khoi Street again...
As expected, there were no shops I used to shop in due to the corona. There are many cafes and convenience stores, but it was not shopping. There was a building under construction, so expect next time

This one-way avenue is Ho Chi Minh City's major thoroughfare. Connecting French colonial architecture with modern skyscrapers, Dong Khoi is still the bustling heart of Saigon. Beware of honking vehicles and motorcycles then a stroll around will be of much fun and interest.

Dong Khoi Street is the "main street" of Ho Chi Minh City. Beautiful colonial buildings, posh hotels, cafes and luxury brands are represented here. Yes, there are streets like this in every big city worldwide. But if you stroll along Dong Khoi Street (from Notre Dame Cathedral to the promenade) you can see (almost) all of Saigon's main sights.

At least you can walk on the sidewalk in this street, which is nice. Furthermore, traffic continues to dominate here too. Perhaps if you want to shop for expensive brands, you have come to the right location. Unfortunately, Notre Dame is in the ascendant. To the right of Notre Dame is the old post office that is still in use. Walk a little further and you can turn right onto Book Street. It is wonderfully quiet here.

I am trying to find a little baby wear shop in Dong Khoi street which sell lots of embroidery and crochet items for baby’s. It is opposite the Grand Hotel just down from lucky plaza.
I cannot remember the name or number of the shop. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi, sorry can't give detail as don't know the shop.
Suggest email or call The Grand Hotel, ask reservations or reception staff as they can probably see the shop across the street.

Sorry. We took a pre-purchased return using our package deal that we purchased with air and hotel. I think it was about $30 for both of us for a prearranged pick up at our hotel at a certain time.
