Our second trip with AOJ and Vinh this time to central and southern Vietnam. Great company to deal with, nothing too much trouble. Everything went to plan and our guides and Vinh took great care of us with Coronavirus around. All the guides were very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot of Vietnam's history. We stayed in some wonderful hotels which were suggested to us and saw many interesting and amazing sights. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to plan a trip to Southeast Asia.

We arrived in Vietnam for a 20 day vacation of Vietnam and Cambodia. At the time the Covid19 virus was in its early stages in the world. We were a little concerned but most of the trip was to go ahead as planned. We started in Ho Chi Minh and made our way through the Mekong Delta, Cambodia and then central Vietnam while finishing in Hanoi and the Lan Ha Bay. We got very good advice when planning our trip from Mr. Vinh. Our guides, hotels and tours were all great. Towards the end of the trip the virus was spreading rapidly which caused us to make changes along the way. In fact, we ended up cutting our vacation short as tourist spots were rapidly closing. This included museums and finally the boat trip around Lan Ha/Ha Long Bay. As disappointed as we were we understand that these changes were necessary. We are grateful for the advice and changes made by AOJ in the midst of an ever evolving situation. In the end we were making changes more than once a day and Mr Vinh was able to arrange all changes and got some refunds where possible. The last few day were quite stressful as hotels were being quarantined and we had to make changes quickly that included our flight home. Grateful to our guides, drivers and Vinh that helped us through a difficult situation.

Vinh helped us plan a 14 day trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. The trip was beyond our expectations. All the guides and drivers were excellent. The excisions- one was better than the next and the hotels were all A++++. Although our trip was cut short (flight unexpectedly canceled from Cambodia) Vinh worked with us to get the internal flight airfare back and has since supplied proper documents to work with our cc company. We absolutely loved every part of this adventure and Vinh is the best- he is responsive and truly cares about all of this tours. I highly recommend AOC to anyone. You will not be disappointed!

We had the most marvelous custom tour I can imagine, created in collaboration with Vinh and AOJ. He listened to our diverse needs (me, the anthropologist, to explore and experience traditional cultures; my husband, the lawyer, to explore history and politics). He provided fabulous educated experienced personable guides and drivers for our full three weeks. He arranged perfect accommodations to support our needs. He provided options. He kept everything within budget and carefully explained if some of our wishes might cost more so we could choose. But the trip was affordable enough—certainly compared to three weeks in other countries—that some luxuries were well worth it! This was not a time to skimp on those things that made us so comfortable and welcome. We emailed back and forth regularly to come up with an itinerary that was both structured and reasonably flexible. He was sensitive to our age and health concerns, but also recognized that we were open to experience and adventure— with some relaxation days built in. Honestly this was a long three weeks that we thought would be our lifetime experience in Vietnam. But we are just back, recovering from jet lag— and ready to have Vinh help us organize another trip to see the parts of Vietnam we missed. I have traveled professionally, including many years with National Geographic, and this is the first time I have ever reached out to an agent to arrange a trip so completely (with my input, of course). Vietnam is clearly not a country to manage on ones own. As I watched the group tour buses load and unload without the personal attention and expertise we had from our spectacular guides and the backup arrangements from Vinh, I was beyond thrilled that we worked with AOJ and didn’t succumb to a group tour. I can’t thank Vinh and AOJ more. I had sent my personal goals for a Vietnam trip to a couple other recommended travel agents as well. But I knew when I heard back from Vinh that he had listened and “got it.” We wanted to see the sites, but also interact with local people. We also added a delightful three days in Siem Reep, Cambodia. Vinh arranged it, knowing that in addition to visiting the extraordinary world wonder of Angkor Wat, I would want to experience life in a village. So there the two of us were, being driven in an oxen cart to a local town to the house of a traditional basket maker and another house where we helped prepare our own lunches. The next day we were on a boat bring driven around a floating fishing village that raises and lowers 10 feet depending on the season. How amazing is that? This entire AOJ-arranged trip had no disappointments.

We thoroughly enjoyed our travels through Vietnam and Cambodia. Vinh customized our trip and worked through every detail. The guides even helped us at the airport check-in counters. I would recommend Ancient Orient Journeys for any tour.
