It was right across the street from the hotel we were staying at. On our last day we were lucky to have a “spare” 90 minutes to stop to see this exhibit. It’s small but has on display about 20 or more to see, historical information, from several time spans some very “daily” wear up to very glamorous. I understand that about a two hour drive out of Ho Chi Minh City this artist has a home with a much larger display. We hope to return and make it there too.

I took my elder brother to visit this place, expecting some authentic ao dais from the past. What we got instead was something more of a personal collection than an exhibition for the public. Entrance fee was 100.000VND for 1 adult. It was literally 2 chambers of newly made ao dais, and an area with chairs and an LCD screen that plays the presentation.
If your sole purpose of visiting the place is to be wowed by the techniques and embellishments on the garments, the exhibition might be a good place for you. However, if you're someone who would like to learn more about the history of the ao dais, I'd suggest skip this exhibition. Have I mentioned there's another ao dai exhibition included inside the Skydeck in the Bitexco building?
In short, I would never recommend anyone visiting this museum. I just personally think this place is a ripoff.

In the pedestrian street, not the museum but the exhibition. I have seen a real podium first time in my life. It was exciting. Numbered chairs, live music, decorative walls, costumes around... I was alone in the hall and could not stop myself pretending as if I am the fashion model!

The Ao Dai exhibition in the heart of district 1 is quite small but interesting enough to see the beautiful Ao Dai on a rainy day. You are given a short tour and you can have a look at the fabrics being hand painted too and spend as long as you like looking round.

I am an art nerd. Absolutely adore it. These Ao Dai's are so beautiful. There is definitely some history here (this is the small exhibit compared to the big museum, which is not in Ho Chi Minh city.) Spent about an hour here, they do a little tour and then you can look around. Such beautiful outfits, definitely worth a visit and a cultural experience more so.

This was a lovely exhibition of garments showing both traditional vintage and modern items. It was not well advertsised and difficult to locate -- we walked past it several times It was so quiet we were the only people there for the hour we spent. I am sure that it would be of interest to lots of people if they only knew about it.

I just browsed on Google maps to find my way to China Town. And then I saw that there is this Vietnamese dress museum. On the second floor is this small but very nice exhibition. The fee is quite high compared to other bigger museums but it’s worth it. I love getting to know the costume of a country. Wish there were more visitors for this exhibition. It’s all worth it!

My twin sister and I took so many photos and studied these dresses from seam to seam. We are huge costume and theatre freaks so this was so EXCITING AND SO MUCH FUN!!! We love Fashion and we loved learning more about our Vietnamese Culture and History so this was a big thing for us. The dresses dates back from AD and till now with mix of modern pop culture dresses!
If you are a fashion freak, You should definitely come and check it out!

Ticket price is 100,000 vnd per pax for a visit to fashion shop sized exhibition. There are two exhibition rooms and a small workshop showing how they make Ao Dai. No guide and no photo taking allowed. We spent 10 minutes to finish the visit.

If you love costume, design and fashion this niche museum is the place for you. Ao Dai means "long dress". The pieces on exhibit are exquisite and feature silks and brocades in decorative patterns, embellised in beaded motifs or hand paintings by artists. The exhibition showcases the evolution of the Ao Dai from its traditional heritage to contemporary culture. Costume is couture.
