We recently completed a 5 night Mekong tour on board Mekong Princess from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City. It was magnificent. A smaller boat carrying 28 passengers is expertly managed & staffed. The food, facilities, day trips, entertainment and guided excursions were excellent. Extremely friendly group enhanced our experience and we would not hesitate to suggest you keep an eye out for The Mekong Princess if considering a river adventure. It was fabulous.

My husband and i had a private tour with an english speaking tour guide. He was wonderful and very informative. We learnt a lot about the horticulture in Vietnam. We could learn a lot from the Vietnamese they truly live off the land and follow seasons and know exactly when to plant and look after their crops.
We learnt about traditional ways and beliefs. However the tour was not what we expected, it was not long enough along the Mekong River and a water of money for what we paid.

We started in Ho Chi Minh City and ended in Siem Reap, traveling from the busiest part of the river to the more scenic part and crossing into Cambodia along the way. Our boat, Toum Toum II, was the perfect size, only 14 cabins. The boat crew could not have been better, from the chef to the waiters to the captain to the masseuse to the engineer and everyone. The food was amazing, the views awesome. Our guide, Kevin/Vannarath, was stupendous--knowledgeable, warm, funny, energetic, attentive, available for our many, many questions from natural history to culture and religion to politics. I especially appreciated the stimulating mix of activities provided when we weren't cruising and just watching the river and villages go by or enjoying passing through the floating villages. We took launches to villages, row boats to tinier villages, visited palm sugar, silversmith, beekeeper villages, a brick-making "factory," the house of Marguerite Duras's lover, and more. We biked through rice fields. By tourist van we visited pagodas, a mountain and its ancestor shrine, and two sites that were a powerful experience: the Killing Fields and a Khmer Rouge prison. On the boat we enjoyed a performance of traditional Cambodian dances by young people from an orphanage. I learned so much on this boat trip and enjoyed every moment. If you love water, boats, local culture, history, and great food, take this boat trip.
Make sure you factor in enough money to tip not only the main guide but also to give an appropriate combined tip for the entire (large) boat crew. We had no advance guidance on this from G Adventures and underestimated what the suggested amount would be. And make sure you know exactly when and where to join the trip at the start--usually at a local hotel, not at the dock but check and confirm with G Adventures. Also, the noise of the engine when we were underway made eating meals a noisy affair. When we were anchored, it was fine--and no rocking.

That's a very nice tour! It's not only take the boat cruise on Mekong river, we also went to some places to see the local life and had lots of fruits! We all love it! It's very relaxing, and the most important thing is the tour guide is very friendly and cute! She was passionate to introduce all about Vietnamese culture. You can ask any questions if you want. 😊

Our trip was delayed due to typhoon out of Hong Kong, but the management was able to provide a great tour with great flexibility in scheduling at competitive pricing.

Pick up was nice and early at our hotel. Our tour guide Thao was an energetic young lady from Central Vietnam. She was able to deliver lots of interesting knowledge throughout the whole journey on the bus and boat rides!

All the attractions were well worth it if it is the first time to visit the area. Lots of local cultures and food to experience with great pleasure.

The tour had us starting at pickup at 0715 and finished at 1645. Door to door from the lobby from your own hotel. All in all, I would recommend the Mekong River Tour to any tourist staying in HCMC more than one day.

The tour started at around 8:30 with a two hours drive to the Mekong Delta area. On the way we had also a stop at a very interesting Buddhist temple where our guide tough us how to pray like Buddhist. Temple is very interesting to visit. Right after that you will reach the delta where you will go on a short big boat trip along the river where you will have a very nice view of the local life, floating boats and "houses". At the arrival you will stop at a local house to taste some home made honey, tea, cookies and local wine (highly recommend this wine, it's wine/cognac, very good taste). Here you will also have the opportunity to see a real big snake and also hold it if you want (i could not do it..i was a coward :) ). Then you tour will go on with a trip with a small boat along the Mekong river canals, which is awesome! You will reach then a local site where you will taste some very tasty fruits and accompanied by Vietnamese music and also to a small candy factory where you can also taste nice candy, hand made right there with different flavors. Next, again on the big boat ride to a local village where you will have lunch and right after that you have some time to visit the village which i also find amazing! It's located along the river side and it's like a small jungle, very cool. You can see every now and then the houses of the locals and how they actually live there! amazing! after that, the tour ends with the ride back home.
It will be a very interesting tour for you to see the raw lifestyle of the inhabitants, no fake thing set up for tourism.. it's the real thing which i find very cool! overall and awesome experience.
About our guide - Pham Xuan Thao - she was a very nice person, giving us all the information we need. She organized the whole trip properly so you have enough time to enjoy all the beautiful things along the way. She also presented and took care of us in each location so we can have the best experience with this tour. Along the way you will have the opportunity to buy some local things (like wine and candy as i did) and the people selling you stuff are inclined not to give you everything you pay for but our guide was always there the make it right!
So, a big thank you and congratulations to our guide for the very good job!!!
Overall, only good words for this tour, highly recommended. it will be a impressive experience!

We spent the day with Thao, our tour guide, and ten other tourists in the Mekong delta. There were so many activities and we enjoyed them all. Thao was a great guide - very kind, talkative, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing tour to view Mekong River Delta. We are glad to have a friendly and responsible tourguide named Thao, who brief us well about the whole tour. Ho Chi Minh City is a fabulous city which you can totally feel the nature and culture there.
