1st and foremost, whatever happens, at the end they will make things right for you. There were couple of issues with my trip, but I don’t want to mention about that rather, the attitude of the cruise people towards their customers. They surely keep the customers at the top. They value your feedback and make sure you are happy at the end, which is the most important part of the trip. Taking about the cruise and experience, it is just mind blowing. Swan Cruise takes an unique itinerary, which takes you to Bai Tu Long bay instead of Halong Bay. This itinerary makes you skip the crowd and the see the beauty of the bay completely. You feel that the whole bay is to yourself and that feeling is just amazing. The beauty of bay is unmatched. Its one the most beautiful destinations in the world. The cruise bookings includes all activites (kayaking, diving, squid fishing, tai chi classes, cooking class, excursion to a cave) and meals were included. It was 1N2D itinerary. Book the suite with Balcony. Its totally worth the price. Our guide Mr Cong was amazing. Always on time and kept us informed about everything. He has great knowledge about the bay and Vietnam as whole. Super happy to choose this cruise and lucky to have Mr Cong as our tour guide.

We thought we were headed to Ha Long Bay because all the arrangements were done by the tour agency. Little did we know we were heading to Bai Tu Long Bay but was very happy with it! Especially with Swan Cruises. It was like heaven after the bad experience on the sleeper train from Sapa. Our throughout the 2d1n tour was David Beckham Jr! Yes, he introduced himself as Beckham, no kidding. He was hilarious and very entertaining. I have nothing but praises for the whole trip. Rooms were spacious enough, comfy beds, and it was very clean. The staff onboard were very nice too. It was fully booked but it wasn't too packed as it was a smaller cruise ship. It was nice getting to know the other passengers. Plus, this route was less crowded than Halong Bay. You can only see a few ships especially at night when we docked in the bay. There were probably only a handful of cruises around. They mentioned that at Halong Bay, there could be more than 100 boats at the same time! Went for kayakking around the bay on the first day, then second day we went to visit a small cave. We even had a cooking class on the second day. Best part of the cruise was the FOOD! It was plated so nicely and they were delicious! Highly recommended. Note, if you are an early riser, join the taichi class in the morning. Other people on the cruise said it was fun as Beckham was the one who conducted it.

The 3 day, 1 night cruise was nice but not really what we were expecting from the descriptions and for the price I probably wouldn't recommend this tour. We were picked up in hanoi and driven to the harbour at around 8am. The drive is about 3,5 hours with a half hour stop at a souvenir shop, where they sell marble statues among other things, about halfway through which was a bit of a waste of time. Once we got to the harbour we had to sit around for another 30-40 mins before we get on the boat, so we only started cruising around 1pm on day 1. Our boat was booked out (about 30 people plus crew). We got on the boat and had a briefing with the host and a welcome drink(cup of tea). Then checked into our rooms and had an hour or so until lunch was served. The rooms were not really how they appeared in the pictures. Smaller and not as modern, no soap or toilet paper in the room, had to ask for this. The room was a bit rundown but not terrible. Lunch was OK but definitely nothing special. My wife ordered vegetarian but throughout the course of the 3 days this would always be forgotten so never really worked out perfectly. Kayaking after lunch to a small bay where we could swim but the beach was definitely not suitable for swimming as there were sharp rocks everywhere. Everyone in our group was bleeding by the end and one man was seriously injured when he slipped and cut his arm on the rocks. He had to be transported by speedboat to the emergency room for emergency surgery. The host in this situation was clearly overwhelmed and didn't have the training to handle the situation. Luckily a few of the older gentlemen in our group took charge and the situation was handled. Without the accident the kayaking would have lasted 30 mins or so I think. Back to the boat for happy hour. Buy 2 cocktails get a 3rd for free. The drinks on the boat aren't included and are quite expensive when compared to the rest of Vietnam. Then dinner, again not bad but not great. We didn't take part in the squid fishing because it seemed kind of mean but other people were doing it and caught a few small squid. Next day after breakfast you go on a smaller boat and the main boat takes the 1 day cruise people back to the harbour and picks up another group of 1 day people. The smaller boat take you to a small bay where you can go kayaking again to a cave. Kayaking time about 5 mins each way, 20 mins in the cave. Then back for a BBQ lunch on the boat. After lunch you go to a fishing village where a woman from the village rows you past the houses to a pearl shop where you can buy pearls. The trip in the boat was very peaceful but the pearl shop wasn't really necessary we found. Back to the day boat then to the main boat for happy hour, dinner etc. Day 3 you go to a small island where there is a cave. The cave is cool but all the boats ho here at the exact time so it is really, really, really crowded. Think hundreds of people trying to get passed each other. 45-60 mins and then back to the boat. You then check out of your rooms and pay your drink bill and then it's about an hour back to the harbour. You have lunch on the boat when you arrive at the harbour. Then wait 45 minutes for the bus back to Hanoi. 3.5 hours again with a stop at the same souvenir shop. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Some first aid training might not be a bad idea. The food wasn't great but was definitely not terrible either. The bay is definitely amazing, however I would not go back to halong/bai tu long because there is a lot of rubbish in the water and heaps of other boats so it doesn't really have the feel that you expect when reading about the place. The rubbish is a really big problem, you can't look any direction without seeing rubbish in the water and swimming is kind of gross. At the end of the day we are glad we saw the bay but it and the cruise were a bit of a disappointment and way too expensive and I wouldn't recommend it.

The Halong Bay Swan cruise experience was one of the highlights of our entire North Vietnam trip. With 2 days 1 night cruising through the Halong Bay, the whole family really enjoyed and relax. Swan cruise actually provided very good service and activities on board. The cruise is rather old but well maintain. We well provided welcome drink while on board and our guide provided the detailed time for each activity. After that our guide distributed the room key. They room was small but very comfortable. We hardly have chance to stay on the cruise. The view was really amazing. It is like you are in Guilin of China. You can see those rocks standing in the middle of the sea. The cruise at a place where other cruises also stopped. We have our lunch before we go for canoeing. The lunch quality was unexpected good. Canoeing experience was really fantastic. My parents in their 60+ still able to canoe around the sea. Our guide directed us boating towards a small island. The shores were clean with white sands. Kids were playing on the shores. During dinner time the weather was bad as it started raining. However our guide told us we can squid fishing on the cruise. Wow! this was the first time I ever have my squid fishing experience. My dad, my brother and my son also joined the squid fishing and they caught few squid for dinner. The rain did not stop until midnight. The next morning we woke up around 5am and our guide instructed Taichi at the top of the deck. It was a very relax activity and good for health. After breakfast, we were told to go to an island and visit a cave there. The path inside the cave is narrow and slippery luckily everyone was find. Along the road we walked to the other side of the island. There was a white sand beach which offered really good panorama view to sea and cave. Kids again playing on the shores. At the end of the trip there was a Vietnam spring roll cooking lesson. Very good lesson provided on how to make Vietnamese spring roll. The entire experience was wonderful and perfect for couple having their honeymoon.

They offer pick up from my hotel in Hanoi (Cant remember the amt in USD). The pickup process was smooth, the bus was a mini-bus so not the most comfortable. Arrived at the port at ard 11am(?) The guide was a young man who was very cheerful and attentive towards the guest. He shared about the itinerary for the 2 days 1 night cruise and also checked in with us on our dietary needs. We got the balcony room, which was very lovely to just chill a bit in the evening and the morning. The schedule for the cruise was really packed so we didnt get to chill at the balcony a lot. Also cos we went in winter it was really cold! Clear blue skies. It was a great cruise. Every meal was like a 5-course meal (part of the onboard svc), Additional drinks are payable (their coconut coffee is pretty good). Would probably not go for the balcony room next time, as there are many places to chill on the boat (e.g. on the upper deck, front bow area, in your room). I'm very glad we went to Bai Tu Long as the commonly visited HLB (has more than 200 yacht companies there, cant imagine the crowd/pollution). Even at night, on BTL bay, we could see ard 8-10 cruises anchoring in the same area. Pros: - Good service - All inclusive (except drinks and hotel tfr) - Great crew and tour guide Cons: - A tad pricey - Room is tiny Tips: - Bring a small bag (as the room is small) - Bring along some snacks (in case you are peckish) - Bring along ur swimwear for a dip in the sea (after kayaking)
