Just rude.

We arrived to watch a film and asked for two tickets. We was told they couldn't show the film unless the sold four tickets as no one else had brought any. This is not my problem and I should not have to buy more tickets. We did not buy the 4 tickets and decided to leave as we was sure the extra ticket sale was going in the guys own pocket. The staff was rude and unhelpful about the whole thing. Will not go again.

Cozy corner in the heart of Hanoi with wonderful selected films
Oct 2016 • Friends
Hide yourself in a little corner of Hanoi (3 minutes to Hoan Kiem lake) to enjoy from classic drama to war documentaries or great variety selection of film. Complemented by a good cafe with good food and friendly service. The first or perhaps the only place in Hanoi could bring the lovely ambient. Come soon while you can as the rumors has it said that the whole area will be pull down for another shopping mall.

Loved this place
Mar 2016 • Couples
Originally, I thought this place was called "Hotel Des Artistes" because of the signage outside, but happy to have finally found out the proper name for it.

Very inviting atmosphere, super cozy, and makes you feel like you're hanging out in a cage in Europe! Didn't go to the cinemas, but rather was lounging on one of the sofas with cups of chamomile tea. Good ambience and good crowd that rolls in through here.

Wish I had pics to post up, but I can only speak from memory!

Highly recommended :)

The old, the new, and the in-between

Great cinema in the middle of town, easy to get to, and fantastic selection of old and new films and documentaries. Great prices (especially when you join the club) and you can take your drinks in with you. The restaurant is a great place to meet up with friends before or after, with delicious food and decently priced drinks.

Cozy, Independent Cinema in Hanoi

Film-lovers rejoice.

Head down a lantern-lit alleyway, pass the Cine Cafe, and cross the courtyard to come to Hanoi Cinematheque.

The venue itself is a members-only auditorium and modestly seats about 100 people. It definitely boasts an upscale vibe--with food prices to reflect it--but still more than reasonable by Western standards. It's clean, comfortable, and cinematic in every sense of the word.

We stopped by while we were in Hanoi last week to catch the screening of Hard Rails Across A Gentle River (2010), a 45-minute cultural documentary of the Long Bien Bridge and surrounding area as told by four short films by Tran Thi Anh Phuong, Do Van Hoang, Pham Thu Hang and Tran Thanh Hien. The narratives brought to life the histories of the locale, and afforded us a glimpse into the mundane-yet-hidden world (thanks to Hanoi DOCLAB, the British Council, and the Goethe Institut for making this possible).

If I were here longer, I would definitely consider turning my donation into an investment into a year-long membership. It's a real treat.
