The tour though intrepid was worth it. Our guide was great and we learned and experienced a lot. I would recommend it.

Six of us had an early start when we were picked up and taken to the Old Quarter. We were taken around some busy markets and we had regular stops for amazing food and Vietnamese specialities such as coffee with egg ( which was surprisingly good). We also had beef pho and then a herb omelette cooked by a vendor who just walks around with all her equipment across her shoulders. We had the most amazing fish and chips which was actually a large prawn in lots of crunchy batter and very thin chips. It was a great morning, the guide was entertaining and we all enjoyed the food.

We were in Vietnam in January 2020. Our guide for the Hanoi Street Food Walking Tour was David who met us at our hotel and took us on a personalised tour of Vietnamese cuisine in the old part of Hanoi. We started at the Café Dinh where we had an egg coffee which, we were informed, was invented here in 1946. It was a great way to start as we went from venue to venue sampling a wonderful variety of beautifully prepared food. David was an excellent guide with a passion for the street cuisine of Hanoi. He was very knowledgeable and we had a nice variety of dishes. We also felt comfortable that the restaurants and eating places he selected were compatible with our 'delicate' western tummies. No trip to Vietnam would be complete without this particular tour which was, in our view, a real highlight. We would recommend it as essential to get a full appreciation of the culture of Hanoi.

A detailed look into local food and culture. Very nicely done with a lot of personal effort on the guides side. They took our diets into consideration. We had a blast. Got to see many different locations and got to taste so many awesome foods. It was a lovely afternoon, we made new friends.

We had prepaid for Hanoi’s Foodie-Designed 10 Tastings Tour with a Local for Jan. 21, 2020. Our booking # was 763181458. We asked our concierge the day before to confirm the tour for us because two different addresses were listed on the confirmation for the meeting point. The phone number listed for “Withlocals” was not a valid number. The concierge then called the number for the guide assigned to us. He finally got a hold of her, and she told him she wasn’t our guide, but told him which was the correct meeting point. We went to that place and waited 20 minutes before our guide did come; she was at the other address. Our guide, Hoa, was great. She spoke English very well and was very knowledgeable. Hoa was a lot of fun to be with and we highly recommend her. This tour would have been a “5” if we had been given the correct info.
