About
54 Traditions Gallery is the only gallery in Vietnam focusing on the antiques, artifacts and art of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. We have a room dedicated to each of the following categories: The Central Highlands, Tribal Textiles, The Shamanic Tradition, Functional Objects, Water Puppets and Stone and Bronze Antiques. Our approach is “anthropological”- we believe that the value and appreciation of an object is increased when we know what it is , when and why it was made and who made it, who used it, why it looks the way it does. We have over 1000 objects on display and objects from our collection have been exhibited in national museums in Hanoi. All objects are guaranteed to be as described and accompanied by a Fact Sheet of at least 1000 words, giving the details on the people who made the object, materials used, purpose, and probable age. We work with numerous museums in VN, USA, and elsewhere. Our price range is very broad, with objects under $20 and over $1000.

I enjoy antiques and traditional crafts, so I sought out this gallery on the edge of the old quarter. I was pleased to find a large and beautiful collection of artifacts from the many ethnic groups and cultures of Vietnam, some dating back to the Bronze Age.
Nhung Nguyễn, the owner, welcomed me and took a half hour of her time to show me around and to explain many of the objects. She is clearly an expert in the field and provides written documentation and provenance for every purchase. Although the artifacts are for sale, this is clearly a labor of love and a visit here is a great introduction to Vietnamese culture and arts. 54 Traditions is also a place to find a memento of a trip to Hanoi at a price that is very reasonable considering the unique history and meaning of each of these objects.

This is such an amazing place! Lovely just to wander around and look at. Everything is meticulously labelled, with dates and information. I wanted to buy something, but it was a bit beyond my budget so the people there had no problem at all with me photographing things. Incredible textiles and printing blocks amongst other treasures. Well worth a visit.

A little antique gallery in Hanoi that sort of doubles as a museum of sorts. There's even a free tour that gives a quick rundown of the many antique objects here. Quite a nice and pleasant visit. The objects are more historical artefacts that simple antiques that you can thrift, so the prices are high. Still, woodblock prints are available.

Extraordinary selection of genuine antique artefacts displayed over 3 floors. Selecting something is a tad overwhelming and recommend viewing and then returning later. Knowledgeable staff and no pressure. But don’t go here looking for a cheap souvenir!

Very broad collection of items showcasing the Vietnamese culture and history. Welcoming team and knowledgeable guide. All items have descriptions and price tags. Strongly recommend a visit if you love to discover things about the way people lived in the country or if you are looking for beautiful objects to enhance your collection of antics.

This was one of my favorite things we did in Hanoi. The gallery owner is passionate, knowledgeable, and friendly - she gave us a free tour with lots of great info and answered all our follow up questions, but we didn’t feel pressured at all to buy something. Worth a stop if you’re in Hanoi!

Beautiful and unique selection of textiles, ceramics, basketry and other artifacts from the minority ethnic groups in Vietnam. The owner spent a lot of time describing her collection! Prices are affordable. You can’t help but find a unique treasure here. to remember your journey to Vietnam!

Every few years we travel to Hanoi and visit this gallery. We love it. We learn so much while we are there. We have learned that the items they sell are ethically sourced and authentic. They provide a curated sheet of information with each item. We have some very special pieces in our home thanks to 54 traditions Gallery. The prices are great and there are price points for every type of shopper.

The small three storey gallery holds surprisingly diverse and beautiful collections of art, textiles and crafts from the northern Vietnam. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. It’s located between the old quarter and Ho Tay lake, only a short walk from either end. Highly recommended to visit!
