Too expensive - a tourist trap!
Mar 2020 • Friends
It’s a total tourist trap! If you are on a budget, don’t shop there, it’s insanely expensive.
A small sized Chips 75‘000 Dong = 3$.
It doesn’t sound like a lot. But if you travelled Asia for I while you will understand.

Interesting Stop
Feb 2020 • Couples
Lots going on here, most importantly, the employment of Agent Orange victims. The embroidery they do is marvelous. There is much to shop for here.
We had a satisfactory lunch and time to shop, use the restroom and the off to Halong Bay.

Impressive
Jul 2019
A scheduled stop on our way from Hanoi to Halong Bay. The toilets were clean and perfect, and well worth the stop alone. The shop was also impressive, with all types of high quality local handicrafts. We regret not buying more.

Hong Ngoc Shopping Centre
Dec 2019
This was a scheduled rest stop for the group tour I was on, as it was a chance to use the washroom and grab some snacks on the way an overnight on a junk boat on Halong Bay. It was also an opportunity to understand and view at a craft shop with an interesting purpose.

I purchased a piece of art created by needle and thread of Halong Bay as a great memory of my trip. The embroidering on the piece I wanted most likely followed a specific set pattern, however it was the colours that drew me to this art. I wanted to ensure I choose the piece I wanted, not the overzealous sales staff. As I write this today, I am still glad that I purchase this piece of art.

Nov 2018
We stopped on our way to Hanoi and was all the beautiful things they were doing, the way the sowed this pictures was a fantastic art form. I bought quite a few souvenirs here and brought them back home with me made great gifts. I seen comments here about it being a tourist trap, well you do not have to spend your money here no one forces you to. would visit again

A stopover while on the way Halong bay
Apr 2019 • Solo
I dropped by this place for around 30 minutes while on my way to Halong bay. There are gifts shops and restaurants here. It's quite a big mall which you definitely need more than 30 minutes if you want to take a good look at the the gifts/souvenirs which they are selling. Your tour guide will definitely bring you here for a stopover when you are on your way to Halong bay.

Beautiful and High Quality Handicrafts
Feb 2019 • Friends
This centre was amazing! Local disabled children & young adults are trained to excel in a specific handicraft.....pottery, needlepoint, woodwork, etc. Well worth a visit....you will not be disappointed.

Interesting place which helps the disabled.
Mar 2019 • Couples
We were taken here as part of a group tour. It was well arranged so we got the opportunity to meet one of the Managers and have an introduction and explanation of what the place is and how it supports disabled people affected by, agent orange and napalm from the Vietnam war.
We also got to meet a number of the people working there and see them at work. The sales staff were a bit pushy but we felt this was a good cause and we purchased an embroidered picture which clearly took weeks to produce and bearing in mind the amount of work we felt was reasonably priced.
If you are taken by your tour operator make sure you go to speak to one of the Managers and get some explanation of the work they do.

Delighted with the surprise stop
Feb 2019 • Family
Was told it was a restroom stop on our way back from Halong Bay to Hanoi. Was pleasantly surprised I got to see these special crafts persons at work, producing awesome artwork one stitch at a time. Bought a lovely embroidery of colorful lotuses. Love it then. Love it even more now. Wish i had bought another black and white piece I liked. Had to go for the smallest size. Very affordable. Was also told 65% of proceeds goes to providing steady jobs and training. Happy with that. 35% for admin and overheads, it's ok. I dont think I would prefer receiving a donation to selling my works. So I dun agree with one of the reviews re: donations.

My visit felt like walking through a wonderful art gallery. Wish I had been given more time to browse. It would be excellent too if we were provided relevant information about the nature of the store prior to stepping off the bus so I didnt have to "waste" time finding out snippets from the salespeople and signs available.

Forced stop on our bus journey from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay
Oct 2018 • Couples
As others have said this is a tourist trap. We were forced to leave our bus at this stop "to rest" and made to walk through the shop on the way to Ha long bay and again on our return. The prices are over double (sometimes 3 or 4 times the price) of other very touristy shops in the city. It is advertised as helping disadvantaged people by giving them work but it was very unconvincing what products were actually made by disadvantaged people or if they were actually getting any money from it at all. It seemed like a show to convince tourists to pay crazy amounts for products sold literally everywhere in Vietnam. All tour buses going to Ha Long Bay stop here and you get given a tag to identify you for your cruise and they note down peoples tags when you purchase something so we assume the cruises make commission on their guests purchasing from here too. All in all it felt very uncomfortable and a fake show to tourists to grab their money.
