A group of 14 of us have just done a North Vietnam trip. The areas we saw where above expectations. The bikes where brand new Honda's. I can't thank Johnny and his crew enough for looking after us even when things got difficult because of the C19 virus. The local food and home stays where fantastic . I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is keen for a bit of adventure. If you talk to the company about your riders ability they will design a tour that is right for you. Wish this company and their wonderful staff all the best over this difficult time. We will definitely be back to do another tour with them!

What an amazing trip. The riding, scenery, food and guides were all outstanding. The company was great in accommodating our needs when things started getting sketchy over the Covid 19. We kicked off the tour a day early ( on brand spanking new bikes) to get out of the city environs and headed north into amazing country. Despite the issues, we had the most amazing 6 days riding before we had to pull the pin and get home. Johnnie and his crew managed to sort any issues and most of the time we weren't aware there were any. It became obvious to us the locals didn't want us there and things were getting difficult re accommodation, food, access thru villages etc but the company sorted it all and were happy to sort transport back to Hanoi to make sure we got out ok.. I couldn't recommend these guys enough and will definitely be heading back in the future to finish our trip. Would recommend doing a trip into the North by the Chinese border, as I said earlier absolutely magic country and riding.

This was my first trip to Vietnam, and I cannot recommend this company and their guides enough. Our itinerary (11 days) was customized to fit our available riding time of 8 days so that we would not miss out on any of the important items that everyone wanted to see.
Johnny was our tour guide and was beyond fantastic at keeping us on pace, showing us new roads, and changing our days according to our needs. He was an absolute blast to spend over a week with and has a wealth of knowledge about different towns, people, and all of the other assorted questions. Since we were traveling as a group of 5 we also had a mechanic named "E" with us. He did an excellent job of keeping all of your bikes in top shop along with being our directions guy whenever we were seperated or chose to split up for pictures.
In regards to budget, food, and overnight stays I would recommend doing all homestays. The families and experiences at the homestays were by far some of my favorite evenings. The hotels were clean and in a good locations. Johnny did amazing with his location choices for breaks, lunch, and dinners. The food here is wonderful and we were lucky enough to have Johnny give us a food tour that we couldn't have done by ourselves. Budget wise this is by and far the best cost vs experience/inclusions tours that I have done. The amount of on hand money that you need is fairly minimal compared to vacationing in other countries.
This is an experience that will create memories that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. I cannot think of a better way to have seen and experienced Vietnam than via bike with Johnny and E. If you are on the fence, or not sure if this is for you; just book and enjoy the ride. The 5 of us can't wait to come back and start seeing other portions of the country with Johnny and E.

This was my first time riding in a guided tour and I instantly felt confident.
These guys really know their way around a group.
The leading guide had rider #2 control the pace safely and the trailing guide made sure everyone had enough time to take pictures, all while the intermediate guide made sure nobody went the wrong way. The riding was both challenging and relaxing, the perfect blend to enjoy Vietnam on a motorcycle.

From the very beginning I could tell these guys were pro. Excellent communication, constructed a custom private tour for five of us. Was given many different options. GREAT value. Our guide Johnnie did not act merely as a guide. He was a fabulous ambassador for Vietnam. Became like a close friend. We were shown the “real” Vietnam, learned a lot about the history and culture. Swear Johnnie knows every single road and minor 18” wide track in Northern Vietnam! He offered us fabulous mountain twisty roads, incredible off road tracks, introduction to local customs and people all the while being a continuous fountain of history. We toured the north staying at a mix of home stays and small hotels. You need to realize that we are talking remote areas here…. Forget cheeseburgers and fine wine. Johnnie went far far out of his way to try and keep us entitled westerners happy with the food etc. If you’re the kind of traveller that enjoys all inclusive resort vacationing, this may not be for you. IF on the other hand you want a memorable immersion into another culture all the while being gently guided through the experience, look no further. Book these guys! Clive Brown

Cannot recommend this enough, it’s such a great way to travel through Vietnam and get to know the country better.
We did a 6 day motorbike tour from Hanoi to Da Nang. Chung was great on the organisational side – very responsive and helpful, and even accommodated our early morning arrival in Hanoi.
Johnny, who guided us through the 6-day tour was amazing. He clearly knew the area well and went out of his way to make sure we had a chance to see and experience the most amazing sights. He also made sure we had great food throughout despite dietary restrictions and overall just enabled us to have the best time ever despite travelling through remote areas in a new country where we don’t speak the language. It’s clear that quite a lot of thought has gone into organising these tours.
What was especially noteworthy was the flexibility and on-the-go thinking Chung and Johnny put in to make sure we had the best experience possible – be it altering the itinerary to avoid spending a day riding through the rain or ending the tour at a different spot to make it easier for us to get to our next stop.
We’re already trying to plan the next tour with Johnny!

I did the 2 day tour through Mai Chau and it was amazing! My tour guide took care of everything from lunch and dinner to taking photos and videos. We had great conversations and even had dinner/drinks with the locals when we got into town. This was way better than I could have imagined and I highly recommend Motorbike Tour Expert.

Hi Sean,
Thank you very much for your nice words about our short motorbike tour with us from Hanoi. It's a short ride but we did our best to show as much of Vietnam as possible and we hope you had some nice memories about Vietnam.

We loved our tour with Kim and Chung from Vietnam Motorbike Tour Expert. The bikes were well maintained and functioned without fault. The scenery and diversity of riding was spectacular and our guide Kim was always happy to find a unique and special trail or take it easier depending on how we were feeling. The places we stayed were also great with excellent food and hospitality.
Kim was a fantastic guide, always ensuring we had the best time possible and our needs were met. Without him, we would not have had the same, immersive experience and been engaged so deeply with the local culture.
I very highly recommend booking a tour with Vietnam Motorbike Tour Expert if you are thinking of riding a bike around Vietnam. There are considerably more interesting routes to take and I plan on coming back sometime soon to tackle even more of Vietnam on the back of a bike with these guys.

After a great bike excursion with "Vietnam Motorbike Tour Expert" in 2018, we returned to them in November, 2018 for another Vietnam ride.
Company owner Chung Can arranged our 9-day N.W. Vietnam ride. We were a group of five from Canada with varying degrees of experience in both highway and off-road motorcycling. Chung provided experienced guide 'Johnny Walker' and second guide 'Viet An'. Both guides did a great job assisting us, translating, ordering food, and gauging the amount and degree of difficulty of off-roading to suit our group's requests, and finding some fantastic highlights.
I am very happy with Vietnam Motorbike Tour Expert's late model bikes, guides, variety of tour options, accommodations & food. Our tour took in some incredible sights & experiences, and at a very reasonable price.

I just recently returned from a 4 day motorbike tour around the Northwest of Vietnam. The tour was organised by Vietnam Motorbike Tour Experts (“VMTE”) and it was an amazing experience in terms of seeing remote parts of a country and experiencing the culture of the local people.
From my initial contact with Chung Can at VMTE, I was impressed with his professionalism. His communication and willingness to accommodate my needs made me feel confident that I was going to have a good time. And I did; Chung organised the best ride and trip.
He provided the equipment I needed and a Honda CRF250L which turned out to be perfectly suited for the roads and track we travelled on. It was ultra-reliable and never missed a beat.
Chung teamed me up with Kim Tran. He was my guide, motorbike maintenance man, interpreter, ride organiser and friend.
His knowledge of the country’s history and its roads was extensive. He was constantly providing me with gems of information about locations we were in and finding routes that took to breathtaking views of valleys full of mist and lush green rice fields hanging off mountainsides. It was fascinating and enchanting. Some tracks were challenging but I never felt they exceeded my skills level.
For the most part our accommodation was at homestays which I thought they were simply wonderful. Warm friendly people who shared their homes, culture and traditional foods with us.
My family and friends followed my journey with interest and loved my updates. I couldn’t have asked for a better tour. It was all beyond anything I anticipated.
Many thanks to Chung for his work on organising the tour. Nothing was a problem and he catered for everything.
And many, many thanks to Kim who has left many happy memories of places and times together.
I highly recommend VMTE to anyone looking for an adventure.

How do I get a local Vietnam motor bike license to do a motor bike tour?
Chung Can
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam37 contributions
Hi there, It's complicated to get a local Vietnamese motorbike licence. You must have 3 month resident visa to Vietnam and spend around a week - 10 days to do many paper works and wait to convert your licence into Vietnamese one. Anyway you don't need to have Vietnamese licence to do a motorbike tour in Vietnam. Your international licence is fine.

Hi. I'm interested in getting a quote for a 3 day on and off road motorcycle trip. I would not be an advanced rider but my boyfriend is. I would be flying into Hanoi in Feb 23 and leaving March 2. We have an open itinerary right now but want to also head to some cities south near Ho Chi Minh if possible. There would be 2 of us.

Hi is it seen as inappropriate or offensive to wear camouflage clothing. I just bought an armoured camouflage coloured jacket to wear for my trip in November. Didn't think about it at the time, just seemed a useful piece of kit. Now I'm concerned and thinking of returning it. What are your thoughts on this please?
