About
This Lenin statue in a park at Nguyen Thai Hoc avenue is one of the few remains I saw of a recent communist past here in Vietnam. Now it seems Sony neon advertising are prefered to those old sovietic symbols... the signs of the times!

There aren't many places in the world anymore where you can find a statue of Lenin out in the open. Most of them elsewhere have been removed and are in storage or have been melted down. A reminder that despite all outward appearances, Vietnam remains a communist country.

Lenin statue in Hanoi
Dec 2019
Knowing Russia's involvement with North Vietnam. it was only appropriate to pay a visit to Lenin's statue which is located opposite the museum where a Mig 21 fighter jet is located. The site is spacious and respectful indicating acknowledgement of the long relationship between the two communist countries. Worth a visit if you have time

Hanoi's statue of Lenin
Jul 2019
This is a fairly normal statue of Lenin, located in a park not far from the Flag Tower. It was a very hot day in July when we visited so there were few people in the vicinity. Nothing too special about the statue.

A wide space with a park behind it
Aug 2019
Great for a stroll in the park. The wide space in front of the statue is amazing for many kinds of activities, like playing badminton or skate boarding.

Somewhat forgotten ?

Considering the influence of Lenin on President Ho Chi Minh you could easily walk past this statue. You are more likely to notice the footballers or skateboarders playing in the square in front of it. If at the military museum it is directly opposite. Take a photo then move on.

Monument to a leader of the global struggle against capitalism and imperialism
Aug 2018
Lenin led the first workers state and fought to put an end to imperialism and exploitation world-wide. While his revolution was first partially reversed by Stalin and then finally by Gorbachev/Yeltsin, he continues to inspire many throughout the world. Unfortunately, there are not many statues of Lenin left. I am glad this one stands in the capital of a country that managed to defeat the French and American colonial and anti-communist forces and achieve national independence and limited freedom from capitalist exploitation.

We are lovers of all things statues/monuments/sculptures they tell you so much about the place you are visiting. This is our first time we have seen a monument to one of the Communist founders, (the man is known but not seen). He is located in a small park, that is nice to take a break. A piccie opportunity as well.

Small Park
Jan 2019 • Solo
The statue was located in a small park across from the Vietnam Military History Chinese. There was nothing remarkable about the statue. In front there was a large paved area where a number of kids were kicking a soccer ball around or driving electric toy cars. In the back were some paved paths and grassy areas where the adults were playing checkers or card games. This will not take more than a few minutes to see.

It’s a statue of Lenin

Statue set in a smallish park. In an area where’s there’s plenty of attractions so in that respect worth seeing if passing by.

Old statue in clean park
May 2018 • Family
The park is small but well manicured for the most part. Statue is nothing to write home about. One of the few places in world where there's still a tribute to this dictator of days past. You can see it when driving by the military museum, or stopping at the museum. Shouldn't be the singular purpose of a trip to the area though. There are cabs right across the street at the military museum though, so it's easy to get around (warning: avoid the local cabs with rigged meters, stick with Grab, Vinasun and Mai Linh).
