This Lenin statue in a park at Nguyen Thai Hoc avenue is one of the few remains I saw of a recent communist past here in Vietnam.

Now it seems Sony neon advertising are prefered to those old sovietic symbols... the signs of the times!

It is very popular places for local people who can do exercises here. If u go at the evening time, u see many students dancing or many old people practice dance sport here

A gentle reminder of the support given to the people of Vietnam by the Soviet Union in their struggle for freedom.

Let me tell you that you should wake up early in the morning and visit this place. You'll see local people gather there to do exercise like a habit as well as enjoy peaceful and quiet atmosphere. In front of the statue is Vietnam Military History Museum and you should visit this place. After that, from the museum, you can... More

If you are passing by, stop and enjoy local activities -a group of women may be practising a dance, young hip hoppers may be practising a routine -sit and enjoy - better than television and you can discover another slice of Hanoi life.

Was visiting the military museum across the road and noticed this statue. There was no plaque or tiny piece of information as to who Lenin was, why they had a Lenin statue or how long it's been there. Don't make it a thing to visit, just have a look if you happen to be passing by.

Strange seeing a massive monument dedicated to a Soviet communist leader... As we are visiting from the Western world. Especially after the fall of the Soviet Union... That said, the monument is massive an an interesting site to see on your way to the Presidential Palace.

Really nice park to sit in and have a breather away from the mid day heat. We were lucky enough to see some police training just beneath the statue which was epic. They were practising martial arts on each other and anti riot tactics. Very entertaining to watch. Interesting to see Lenins face in Vietnam after recently visiting Moscow.

The Lenin Statue is located in a park opposite the Vietnam Military History Museum and the Flag Tower in Central Hanoi. I was in Hanoi for few days and on the second day in Hanoi, I strolled my way from my hostel in the Old Quarters to pay my great respect to this great fiery revolutionary Communist fighter of the... So weird to see Lenin's statue here. it looks exactly as you are back in the USSR. Maybe it was made there too. We also observed how Lenin's name was written: VI LE-NIN. I agree with the previous reviewer - unless you are from Russia or from the Soviet block, nothing special here.

If you are visiting the Mausoleum part of the city you will bump into this statue and it was of no interest to me and it probably will be of no interest to you unless you are from Russia. Does not make it to the list of things to do in Hanoi.
