We were booked on a one night Orchid cruise from Haiphong to Cat Ba but Covid-19 meant Haiphong was closed the day before our departure. The local agents for our travel company re-booked us on a Pelican cruise from Halong which we knew was a much more crowded route. It was clear as soon as we saw the boat that it wasn't the same standard as Orchid. Our cabins were very cramped with worn furniture and bed linen/towels that looked as though they had been used by the previous occupants. Dinner was almost inedible and the buffet lunches on both days were identical. We left Halong with a large number of other boats which stayed together in a relatively small area and moored cheek by jowl overnight. This meant that hundreds of people disembarked at the same time to see or do the same thing. After the first trip, we decided to stay on board. As most of the passengers had also been re-booked, Pelican may have laid on one of their boats at the last moment and not had time to prepare the cabins or organise the food. However, based on our experience, we would definitely suggest choosing another company if you plan a cruise from Halong.

Thoroughly enjoyed the 2 day 1 night cruise, wish it could have been longer! Good range of activities, great squid fishing and cave tour at the end

AMAZING. Do it. I suggest the 3day, 2 Night cruise as you don't feel as rushed to do all the excursions and it gives you time to take in all the beauty. Staff: EXCELLENT Service: EXCELLENT Food: : EXCELLENT Sites/Excursions: EXCELLENT Definitely take advantage of Happy Hour. Just don't be one of those young punks that comes on the boat and ruins it for everyone.

Since I got to the pier, mr Lee and his crew were amazing, taking care of every single detail, (luggage, welcome drink, WiFi connection). Once in the boat was like a dream coming through, me and my partner had an upgrade last minute and we got a rude balcony and luxury cabin. Dinner was tasteful and the waiters very kind, the place is just peaceful and magical, and pelican cruises helped in every way, it makes the difference for a fresh new year, hope to comeback some day. Thanks for every single moment, was a bless for Us, special thanks for Mr Lee, who made all possible.
