I went in a 8 day bike tour with Mihn, as a rider with little riding experience. It was an awesome trip. Mihn knows exactly what he's doing, he'll help you order vietnamese food that he knows you'll like, he gives the trip the exact amount of adventure that is challenging, but fun and always safe, and the accomodations are top notch. Also if you are that not experienced like me, he'll teach you a lot. The price is all included, and at an incredible price for that. If you are on the fence about going with Freebird adventures, do it. You will not regret it. I cannot think a better way to discover Vietnam.…

My guide was patient and insightful, he answered all my questions and took me to real Vietnamese places to eat. The food was amazing! I was a little unsure about my ridding but my guide was patient and took everything nice and slow for me.

Freebird Adventures is a great excursion for anyone traveling to Hanoi or around Northern Vietnam! Minh will show you the culture outside of the big city and he was great at personalizing our trip as our day went on to make it that much more memorable. He offers tours on motor bike, Jeep and tuktuk, allowing for varying levels of driving skill and comfort. I am not a biker so my fiance and I opted for the Jeep and tuktuk tour. He took us out in a WW2 era Jeep, which was fantastic on it's own! We were taken through the countryside and various small towns outside of the hectic city. His tour showed us the beautiful countryside, rice and lotus farms, and an amazing cave where we had to cross a bamboo monkey bridge over water to enter. We also drove through many small towns getting to see beautiful architecture, tour a silk factory, browse a farmers market, and even had a local business owner invite us in for tea. The food Minh found for us was fantastic fresh local fare from small business owners, giving us an authentic taste of Vietnam. Minh ended the day with a tuktuk ride out into the countryside where we relived our youth flying kites which was a delight! To top it off, we had fascinating conversations throughout the whole day and enjoyed getting to know our guide. Minh will show you the real and beautiful side of Vietnam making it unlike any other tour I have taken. Anthony Bourdain would have been thrilled to be taken on this tour!…

If you ever watched a show hosted by Anthony Bourdain and thought, "man, I want to do that: meet a local guide, go do things off the beaten, tourist path, really get to know a place," then you need to book a day with Minh, the owner/operator of Freebird Adventures. My fiancee and I booked a Jeep tour for the day with Minh. He was our transport in and out of the city. He was easy to converse with about current events, hobbies, the constructs of what life is like in Hanoi. He had a loose plan for our day: a drive up to Tiger Cave in a fully restored 1970s US Army Jeep, followed by a swim, lunch on a private estate, and kite flying. The bad news: we came in late January and during Tet. The weather wasn't cooperating with a wade, let alone a swim, and Tet means some businesses -- like that restaurant on the estate -- weren't open. Now, here's an important note: my fiancee and I are young, in the hospitality industry back home, and enjoy good conversation. As such, with an hour ride out to the country, we had a fair amount of getting-to-know-you time with Minh. So, when plans had to change, Minh had to call some audibles. For lunch, he took us to a roadside cafe with a delicious spread of authentic, regional home-cooking. Since swimming was out, we zipped through a few remote villages in the Jeep. We stopped at a local farmers market. My fiancee and I are also chefs, so we starred at the tables upon tables of the freshest meats and produce available in the area. Food is a story, told by people, and the people of Vietnam had to fight back from starvation. And since necessity is the mother of invention, their food tells the story of making hard times work as best as they can. We met business owners: a local mechanic and his son, a couple textile workers, another roadside coffee and beer spot that just so happened to have the best fried dumplings. We pounded coffee and water. We drove past a wedding and wished them good fortune, later joking that we hoped two white people crashing your wedding reception was good luck. We saw so many children who were just as amazed to see us. We were offered by tea by everyone. We saw life as it was. Not a list of stops and facts and schedules. Not as a group walking by someone else's world under glass. We saw a Saturday -- just a Saturday -- and it was beautiful. There's a time and place for more traditional tour groups, and I did a few of those, too. But if you want to get to know the soul of a place, to see and hear first-hand what a fraction of a slice of life is like in rural Vietnam, the outskirts that surround Hanoi, Minh was as great of a guide as you could ask for. If I sound like I'm gushing, it's because I am. Minh gave my fiancee and I something I never thought I'd ever have: true love of northern Vietnam. We never found Minh's favorite roasted duck vendor. I think they were doing private catering. I guess we'll just have to come see him again. And we will.…

I have been on both the one day jeep tour and a 2 day motorbike tour with Minh and both were amazing! We had so much fun and Minh is such a great guide. He is really funny and he knows some amazing motorbike routes. I have lived in Vietam for 3 years and both trips have been highlights for my time here. I was a little nervous driving bigger motorbikes than I'm used to and he was really nice and supportive. Also, he takes great photos and drone videos of the trips which are awesome! Thanks Minh! We'll see you again for another trip soon!…
