Comprises one building where the entrance to the building is flanked by two SAM-2 missiles. These Russian made missiles shot down a number of B52"s during the defense of Hanoi in December 1972. When you stand on the raised entrance to the Museum you look down on the remains of a shot down B52 that has been laid out in a reconstructed form. Also in the grounds is an array of equipment that was used in the defense of Hanoi.

Yes, this museum is currently being renovated. There was no one around to ask when it will reopen. However, I'm still saying that this is a "very good" attraction because visitors still have free access to the outdoor exhibits. There, you'll find the footprint of a B52 bomber essentially reassembled using the wreckage of the 16 bombers shot down during the 1972 US Operation Linebacker II. It's pretty powerful to see both the size of the aircraft and also the twisted and burned wreckage. You'll also get to see a MIG-21 and a bunch of anti-aircraft artillery and missiles including two SA-2s.

Totally worth a visit even while the museum is closed.

The museum itself is not very interesting, though a very good start to discover real Hanoi street life. Its very cool to walk from here to the stadium and further to the Literature temple (small streets, markets, etc)

I gave it a “2” simply because there was some organization to the “museum” or reasonable facsimile thereof. It does have a B52 - in pieces - shot down during the war. There is no one around to explain anything and the English write up on displays extol the virtues of the Vietnamese and the horrors of the Americans. The victors get to write their own history. You have to go out of your way to get to this place but we recommend not going out of your way.

This is a fascinating, thought-provoking place. There's a downed B-52, it's wrecked components laid out in Air Crash Investigation style. Walking around it, you have to think of the souls that were flying this and what happened to them. Missiles like the one that downed the B-52 are right to hand, as are other period weapons. Unlike some aircraft in museums, you can actually touch and crawl under this one.
Very glad I visited this place.

Even it's not a huge museum, B52 victory museum is still a good choice for any history buff, especially American. Thanks to our experienced guide, we got to know more about the Vietnam war, and we were really amazed to see how the Vietnamese people could bring down our proud B52-fortress.

Closed. Was a construction site. Just look like junk laying around. All information suggested it was open. Don’t waste your time like I did.

I love history, so I was super disappointed. Walked in, no one there, no staff. Alls it was was pictures and items with one sentence description, just one. No paragraphs to be found in order to tell a story and no direction. No air conditioning either. A huge waste of time. Yeah there is an old b52 sitting out front but that's it.

Quite an easy walk from downtown Hanoi this small museum is certainly worth making the effort to get to.

Firstly there was some confusion about opening days - some websites we saw said closed on a Sunday - it was most deffinateley open. I also saw a review that says when the museum is closed you can alk around the outside exhibits - we got there in lunch hour and the gates were all locked (we waited 10min and they opened on time).

The museums "star" attraction one could say is the wreckage of a B52 which is laid out to represent the aircraft. Not sure if its all the same aircraft or kind of a collection of B52 remnants from all over the place.

Outside there is a Long Range Radar, 2 SAM2 Guideline Surface to Air Missiles and aMig 21. The rather splendid looking building houses one large room (No one was around at all when we went - free entry etc but no staff at all !).

Usual anti American hysterical narrative and propoganda which I think takes the shine off what could be a really interesting museum dedicated the the n Vietnamese struggle against the American air campaign. The story of what must have been a very harrowing time for the rank and file vietnamese people goes largley untold by virtue of the space available being used for triumphalist displays.

All in all thiough any museum with SAMs. Migs and a long Range Radar has got to be a good thing. If you like this museum them a trip to the larger Vietnamese Air Force Museum in the South of the City may be worth concidering.

I was bitten by two dogs who stay in the grounds of the museum. Luckily I was wearing jeans and their bites didn't pierce the skin. A Vietnamese woman was also bitten when I was there, and I saw the dog attempting to bite another tourist. We told a woman wearing the police uniform who seemed to work at the museum about it - she knew what the problem was before we told her (presumably because people have complained before), and when we said the dogs should perhaps not be allowed to roam freely she said ok and then went inside, doing nothing. There was no problem with communication because I was with a Vietnamese person.
Do not try to enter the building at the right-hand side of the museum grounds, or the dogs will become aggressive. They may try to bite you even if you don't go near it.
