I was picked up on time by my guide, Tony, who spoke excellent English. There were only two other people on the tour. Tony gave us a lot of interesting information on the way to our destination. We visited a lovely family at their home and had an herbal footpath and snacks of bananas, candy, and a drink. The lady explained all of the herbs used in the foot bath and that it is exclusive to her group. It was very enjoyable. Then we were to bicycle to our boat trip on the Da River, but, at 72, I opted for a motorbike ride with Sim, who had joined us as another guide. He was also very friendly and informative. We stopped in the way for pictures by a beautiful lake and the three mountains. I was glad to be on the motorbike because it was a bit of a long ride. We sailed on the Da River to. another lovely home where we learned how to make a salad and dipping sauce. Then we were served many dishes for lunch on the terrace. All the food was delicious and Tony treated us to mango smoothies. After lunch, we visited Mr. and Mrs. Duoc. We were served two kinds of tea with a peanut bar. Then they showed us their tea plantation, where we learned how to pick tea leaves and saw the drying process. They are a charming couple. Tony, Sim, and all of the families made this a perfect day, one not to be missed on a visit to Hanoi.

We had a wonderful two day cruise on lan ha Bay organised through David at Hanoi Eco Tours. Our guide Tutu was very friendly and did a great job at organising our travel and activities. We especially enjoyed the kayaking trip and visiting the village on bikes. Tai chi at dawn on the top deck was also a lovely experience. While the weather was a bit chilly we still got some great views. We travelled on La Mignonne boat which had excellent rooms, superb and wonderfully presented food, and lovely staff.

We had a lovely morning with a Vietnamese family in their home. They gave us a warm welcome into their home with tea and cookies. We helped prepare spring rolls and then all sat down for lunch with some local delicacies. Also had chicken, beef and noodles. We then walked to the local temple and drank tea with the local care takers of the temple. Lovely family and they made us feel welcome.

We had a great experience of being farmers. Henry helped us to have an unforgettable time and truly become a farmer. Experiences that surpass expectations. We were taught by the local people how to catch fish in the fish pond, how to cook them. In the afternoon, we had a cycling program through the fields, small alleys and markets. All are kept in photographs taken by Henry. We had a great time. Thank you to Hanoi Eco Tour team & special thanks to Henry --

We wanted to really see the true Vietnam so we searched for a tour that would take us out of the tourist zone. We struck gold when Tien (Henry) showed up as our tour guide! Henry not only got us plowing fields and helping harvest but also had arranged cooking lunch with a local family. Here we met Mama Toan (and her family) who quickly adopted us as Daughters! What a wonderful family!!! The trip couldn’t have been any better! Henry also taught us techniques that made us feel confident in wandering around Hanoi by ourselves later. Can’t wait to see them all again! Mahalo!
