- palawanismyhomePalawan Island, Philippines22,285 contributionsGuinness world recordThe ceramic wall is about 6 kms long and was the idea of Nguyen Thu Thuy in order to hide the dykes. The ceramics come from Bat Trang, the pottery village about 10 kms away. The idea was to complete it for the Hanoi millennium in 2010, and it depicts scenes from the history of Vietnam: Phùng Nguyên culture; Đông Sơn culture; Lý dynasty; Trần dynasty; Lê dynasty and Nguyễn dynasty. It is in the record books as the longest ceramic wall.Written December 31, 2022
- wireless_in_CAUnited States4,720 contributionsA Beautiful Mural along a Busy RoadWe drove by this beautiful mosaic mural on the way to the airport after a short stay in Hanoi. It was little tough at times to take a photo from a moving van but I managed to capture a few good photos. It was colorful and looked like a lot of effort went into the design and construction. The mural contained a number of different themes and landmarks both local and international, like the Merlion from Singapore. There also was quite a bit of advertisement on the mural and personally I don’t know why they allowed it. I may try to walk along part of it next time since it extends for a couple miles.Traveled on businessWritten February 26, 2019

It's a really long wall(at least a kilometer?) and right beside the huge busy road. It's a bit scary to walk but the mosaic designs are really nice and made well. Unfortunately it has not aged well. But it is still worth a visit, but just once.

The mural is impossibile to appreciate on foot. It is reportedly miles long and is adjacent to a busy road. So hard to approach, and impossible to take it all in!
So, id reccomend looking at the photos online rather than visiting!

The mural is 4 miles long and holds the Guinness World Record for longest ceramic mural (2010). We were only able to view it on our way to the airport as we were leaving Vietnam after two weeks. Wish I could have visited it in person!

The largest mosaic in the world entrances visitors for over 10 years along Au Co, the dyke road wall. Artists from many nations and organizations completed this majestic celebration of Hanoi's 1000 year anniversary under the leadership of artist Thu Thuy, certainly one of the finest public artists in the world.

Lovely to look at as you are driving around. It is the longest mosaic in the world and crafted by many people. Awesome work.

A bit overrated a tourist attraction so don't know why it is listed on trip advisor. The mural is lovely yet sits in the middle of a busy street. Nice to pass by I guess.
