The sign outside Bookworm (pictured) reads: “The best little bookshop in South East Asia.” This is 100% true. No bookshop has absolutely everything, but, per square inch, Bookworm is one of the best bookshops I have ever seen, and this is in comparison to large independent bookshops in major university cities in Europe and the US. Especially satisfying is Bookworm’s selection of Vietnamese and other SE Asian titles in English, but I also found pristine copies of other gems I had sought for years. If you’re a reader, teacher, student, thinker - anyone: go look. Also, the shop’s placement is fun; you have to squeeze down a narrow alley (don’t worry, the sign’s on the street) and pass through a cute courtyard to enter the shop. Yes, there’s coffee. Enjoy! Paws for travel!

Visited this bookstore and attached cafe this afternoon . They have an extensive selection of old and new titles. Bought two used books which were sadly sold at the same price as new books so I didn’t at all feel that I had made a bargain. Staff did their job perfunctorily and were not particularly friendly. The attached cafe (you have to go up the metal staircase, if you sit at a table in the courtyard, you will be copiously ignored) sadly did not feature any vegetarian options apart from bread and French fries, so I was not impressed with the menu. As in the bookstore, staff was not very friendly. They are probably taking advantage of the fact that they have such a good selection of children’s, fiction, and non-fiction books and feel that they can thus treat their customers in an off handed manner. Shame...

A good collection of new and used books, and a staff who know what is on their shelves. Purchased some books, and the clerk kindly pointed out that all children's books were 20% off that week. When asked for a specific title, she walked to the exact case and shelf and laid her hand on two different editions of the book. And a pleasant courtyard, to boot.

The location is a bit difficult to find unless you have a driver or cab that knows the street. Great selection of multi-language books and it does have a cafe which I did not use but it is located about 25 meters from Home Hanoi Restaurant where I went for lunch.

Firstly the good things. You can get a really good coffee or tea here. We had a very unusual stir fried chicken with rice. The chicken was large chunks of what looked like chicken legs with some meat on them but mostly bone skin and gristle. We also had stir fried beef with rice. The cause was very thick & gluly and the beef was I think 2 different types of meat. It was the sort of food you expect from a very cheap place - not somewhere like this which is actually a cooking school as well. Shame really as the courtyard setting is really pleasant.
