We had a late lunch at the Nola Cafe - lovely setting with numerious umbrellas acting as a roof. Splendid little spot, I must say!

The food was rather dreadful though, and the drinks were... well, let me just say that avocado and gelatin do not mix well and cannot be called ‘juice’. It should have been called ‘kind of avocado tasting gloop’.

food & service sucks.
trip advisor sucks - keep taking down my reviews with no explanations.
therefore most of the reviews are more about their lame customer service and not about the places.
i urge you to do the same until they change its ways

We went at dusk and cooled off with a tasty iced coffee. I must admit we spent a lot of time taking photos as it is full of interesting and eclectic decoration. Around dusk the rooftop seats are really gorgeous. We didn't sit inside or downstairs. The roof is where it's at.

I was looking for a different cafe. I have tried many in Hanoi. So yes, it is different, and if you are looking for a place where travelers and ex pats hang out, maybe this is the place for you. I was not impressed. The coffee (cafe da) was well below average, the music was too loud, and Bob Dylan is not the most cheering music. Neither is it enjoyable when you have a bunch of English Guys just out of their teens swearing with every second word they spoke , totally disrespectful of me and my wife's presence. This is not the fault of the cafe, but a sign that it has become too popular as a result of the reviews, and is turning into the place where ex pats and travelers will go. The cafe itself is quite basic. Furniture is old in keeping it appears with the character it wishes to portray. Antiques and memorabilia decorate the walls and surrounds. I have tried it, and I will not be going back.

We found Nola’s Cafe searching for peace and quiet in Hanoi. It’s a wonderful city, but for us who aren’t used to the constant noise, traffic and chaos, it’s great to find a spot where you can get away from it all. Great cocktails and tasty snacks. Three levels, one being air conditioned and one being the roof top. Would’ve scored 5 if the WCs were cleaner. The entrance is a narrow cut-way but easy to find. It’s opposite red bean restaurant.

Great food! The entrance is very small and easy to miss but inside is a sprawling maze of hallways and stairs. I'd highly recommend eating here.

Wow! Stopped for a break after seeing Nola on TripAdvisor. Just have a beer & Vietnamese sweet & sour chicken! The best £2 money buys....

Just been for lunch and waited 30 minutes for the drink a diet coke then a further 20 minutes for lunch, and \i think there was about 3 people there today. Food was average to say the least and the furniture tired but trying to look cool, there are far better places to eat in the old centre that have more authentic food and service unlike Nola.

We loved Nola, so much we nearly went there everyday! Despite being in Lonely Planet, it felt like Hanoi's best kept secret, as often we would be the only backpackers there! It was through a small alley, so very easy to miss, if you aren't paying attention!

We loved it the most for its decor, atmosphere and it's maze of different rooms, and rooftop terrace! Great for a coffee in the day or sandwich and drinks in the evening, especially if you want a night away from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi and the young backpacker bars blaring out the same chart music.

Don't ask for chocolate cake though - It's always a no :(

Despite this, Nola is a must!

If you're looking for a break from the chaos of Ma May, Cafe Nola is great. It's a little difficult to find, but you just need to keep your eyes open. The drinks and food are great and the atmosphere is really unique. It genuinely feels like a cafe from another era.
