We booked our trip to Cambodia and Vietnam with Indochina Pioneer, and I highly recommend their local expertise and professionalism. This was the first time we have worked with an in-country travel agency for a customized trip, and the partnership helped us create an amazing vacation.
I contacted Indochina Pioneer and was assigned a Travel Specialist, Elly, who worked through our initial trip thoughts and gave us some additional suggestions. She was very responsive, listened to the type of trip that we wanted, and always followed through. Her professionalism built our confidence in a successful trip.
We had the agency set up drivers, tour guides and hotels based on our personal qualifications. Each stop we had a new, local guide who understood the history of the area and helped us navigate to the local sights. Because of the guides we were able to experience not only the popular tourist areas, but also go to more obscure sights that gave us a local experience.
We really loved the local food tours in Vietnam because our guides took us around the cities to non-tourist restaurant. We also had three bike trips, so instead of driving and seeing the countryside pass us by, we rode our bikes.
I highly recommend working in Indochina Pioneer for you next trip to Asia!

Having returned from our tour of Vietnam, which was organised by Miss Elly Do, we cannot thank her and her company enough for making the eleven days in Vietnam exceptional. From first contact with Elly she was flexible and accommodating to making our tour really special and unique to us. The accommodation that she found in the following cities, Hanoi, Hoi An, Hue and Ho Chi MInh City were beyond excellent. Special note must be made of the Eldora Hotel in Hue, which was above and beyond our expectations.
The tour guides that Elly used for our tour were knowledgeable and and adaptable to situations out of their control caused by the Corona virus. Special thanks to Sunny, our Hanoi guide, who found alternative attractions due to government closures of many popular attractions which did not detract from the highlights of the city. Thanks also to Tran, our Hoi An guide, who made our trip both entertaining and exciting. Thanks also to Cam who's knowledge of Hue was exceptional and last but not least Jason, our guide in HCMC, his knowledge of the Cu Chi tunnels was outstanding.
The food tour with the XOtours in HCMC is a must for anyone visiting the city. It gives another understanding to the chaos that is driving in HCMC on the back of a scooter, though we did feel safe because of the experienced female drivers, who were friendly and spoke excellent English.
We would, without reservation, recommend Indochina Pioneer to anybody planning a tour of Vietnam who does not want to follow a standard package tour but rather a tour that incorporates your specific interests and needs, from planning through to the experience as a whole.
We are now presented with the problem of topping this trip, however if we decide to visit any other place in SouthEast Asia we will definitely be using this company's services.

Asia Pioneer Travel created a wonderful and memorable vacation for my husband and me in January 2023. Lizzie Pham, our tour manager, was especially fantastic, being very accessible, accommodating our needs, and designing a lovely and luxurious tour. We visited Siem Reap, Cambodia; Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An, HCM City, and Can Tho in Vietnam; and Bangkok, Thailand. In each location, a tour guide and driver met us at the airport and escorted us on excursions in the area before putting us on a plane to the next destination. We had 5-star hotels in nearly every city we visited, excellent guides, and wonderful sites to visit. It was a private tour just for the 2 of us, and so worth it. We did upgrade to business class on the intra-tour air travel that was included in the trip price. I would recommend doing that if your budget allows, as check-in, going through security, and boarding were far easier, not to mention more comfortable seats.
The logistics of getting from one place to another, getting tickets to the various excursion sites, having English speaking guides would be a nightmare to try to plan independently. Asia Pioneer Travel proved to be excellent in handling all the logistics and everything went like clockwork. Not even a single flight was delayed! I heartily recommend the travel company and Lizzie Pham.

Group of 10 ppl. We were very unhappy with the service. We used them five years ago and they were excellent but the quality has gone down dramatically. They couldn’t even communicate to us properly. Tell the hotel front desk to pick us up for the airport the wrong time not just once but twice!!! We ended up having to take a taxi to the airport ourselves and didn’t even get a refund from that. There were limousine service to sapa that were supposed to be private but we ended up sharing it with someone else. They couldn’t resolved the issue and we ended up having no room to put our luggages and were squished for 6 hrs ride. There were soooo many things that the list go on and on... there are way better companies out there so save yourself some headaches and don’t use them. I’m still pissed at their service even after few months!!!

My husband, adult children and I have just returned from one of the best trips of our lifetimes. After numerous requests from me to change, add or tweak the day-to-day tours suggested to me, Hang (Lizzie) from Indochina Pioneer found the perfect combination for us. She is a knowledgeable, patient and gifted organizer. I couldn’t be happier with her professionalism and attention to detail. As we toured the country, we were inspired and educated by our guides Nam, Dat, Larry and Pascuale. We hiked through jungles, ate marvellous food, spent time on the waters of Halong Bay and Phu Quoc Island, we rode bikes through villages and explored the busy streets of Hanoi, Hoi an and Ho Chi Min City, we visited temples and war monuments. Every detail was carefully outlined by Hang and if we wanted to make last minute changes to the day, our guides were happy to accommodate. I would highly recommend Indochina Pioneer. If I have the good fortune to return, I would use them again. Gold stars all around! Well done Hang & team!

I cannot thanks this company, and specifically the wonderful Sally Thai, enough for making our trip through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia so special and memorable. From the moment we sent a general enquiry of what we were thinking about doing to being dropped off at our final destination the communication and organisation has been exceptional. All of the arrangements (flights, hotels, guides, drivers, sites etc.) were in place and all of the various teams and people who supported us on our journey were welcoming, engaging, informed and flexible. Although Sally stayed in regular contact it was out of courtesy rather than necessity and we never had any occasion to seek her help or assistance to fix anything. Accepting we weren’t restricted to a low budget I don’t know how this would compare from a cost perspective, to us it doesn’t matter now as we have had the most amazing time and memories that will last forever thanks to this company and their people. Finally we need to mention the virus, we took the right precautions and didn’t let what we considered to be an acceptable risk take over what we did so we carried on. We had the advantage of seeing the major sites without the crowds although clearly the vibrancy and experience of the nightlife and markets was somewhat diminished. The countries are “open for business” and with visible signs of the recommended precautions, e.g hand cleaner, readily available at sites and restaurants we were able to continue almost as if we were anywhere else in the world.

Outstanding!! Our family of six toured all of Vietnam with three days added on at the end in Cambodia. I can't find a single complaint. An incredible holiday with exceptional service. I highly recommend this company.
We started our tour in Hanoi where our guide and driver were waiting to drive us to the hotel. At every city we visited, we had a driver and guide waiting to take us exploring. In Hanoi, we explored and ate our way through the city. Our guide Callum was so knowledgeable and shared so much information. He was mindful and understanding of the needs of our small children from taking breaks at fun places to eat, to helping us find a restroom on the spot when one of our little ones needed a bathroom break.
From Hanoi, we spent two days on a junk boat in Ha Long Bay. I recommend two days as you really get to go deep into the islands and experience the beauty of this mysterious and beautiful place.
Our trip continued down to central Vietnam to Hoi An which was just gorgeous and my favorite part of the trip. Billy, our guide, was stellar!!! It was like having a friend or sibling show us the city. He was funny and took my kids and me on a grand day-long adventure, pedaling our way through the countryside and offering advice on places to eat.
In Ho Chi Minh city, our guide Larry was a hoot, keeping us laughing the entire time. He too had an impressive knowledge of the city and the history behind this area. My husband and I learned many things we did now know before. He curtailed the day tour to include areas we showed more interest in and allowed us the decision to skip site we felt our children would not enjoy/be appropriate for their age.
Finally in Cambodia, our warm-hearted and incredibly intelligent guide Seala, guided us through Angkor Wat and the water village in Cambodia. He was excellent with our children, answering all their many questions.
The guides that Asai Pioneer Travel arranged for us were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, funny, accommodating, and extraordinary. One of our children has food allergies and each guide in every city ensured his food was free from allergens and safe to eat.
The level of service provided by Lam the tour director and coordinator for our trip was superb. He went above and beyond to create a family vacation that will never be forgotten. I don't usually write reviews but the level of service, professionalism, and true care for an exceptional experience were so great that I had to share my experience. I hope you enjoy your travels as much as we did!

I can't say enough good things about the tour that Asia Pioneer put together for us. My dad was in the war and has wanted to go back, so we took my whole family (8 of us and 4 were 14-20). The trip was flawless. There was nothing that went wrong and the itinerary was perfect and the price is unbeatable.

Liam did an amazing job putting together an itinerary based on phone/text conversations. We told him the where and what and he did the rest. The accommodations were beyond expectation, the guides were unbelievable friendly, and the places we were taken were spectacular. Having guides and drivers is worth every penny. So much time and money would have been wasted had we tried to accomplish this ourselves.
We got to experience so much more because of our guides local knowledge. Lastly, how great it was not to worry about how we were getting to the next adventure. Had we not used Indochina Pioneer I truly believe I wouldn't have as many astonishing memories.

We have always been very interested in Vietnam and Cambodia, recently reired, we decided the time was right to make this trip. Living in Canada and booking a trip to SE Asia can be a little difficult given the 15 hour time change. We worked with Mr. Lam of Asia Pioneer travel and we had no issues. In fact, we wondered if he ever slept as it didn't seem to matter when we sent a question or request, the response was immediate. He kept in touch with us throughout our travels ensuring that everything was as we had hoped. They exceeded our expectaions in all areas. The communication, knowledge, flexibility, and caring attitude was incredible.
We travelled for 7 weeks so the tour that we structured gave us a great mix between guided and free time. We were able to see the normal tourist sites, as well as spend some indepth time in the villages and communities. This gave us a much greater insight into life in Vietnam and Cambodia. All I can say, is that they are amazing and incredible people!
Our guides were great. Our drivers were safe and looked after us very well. I would not recommend anyone try driving on thier own if you are coming from a country where people obey the traffic laws. We learned over time that is is actully very organized chaos!
If you are looking for a great agency, we can assure you that Asia Pioneer cares about you and will look after you with every detail!

I am trying to get a response from Kata or any other staff member from Indochina Pioneer about a refund owed to my family from a trip to Hanoi & other destinations in Vietnam that was cancelled on 3/4/20. We were told it would be refunded to us on 30/9/20 after more than 6 months of waiting patiently for it and numerous attempts to contact Kata with no success.Can someone please inform me what is happening? First trip to Korea - I will arrive at the Incheon airport around 8:30 pm. How long does it take from the airport to the hotel? Do I take the subway (not a Korean speaker)? Is it safe to be walking around at that time (2 adults & 3 kids)?
