Awesome cooking class
Mar 2020
This cooking class was really amazing. We had a wonderful time with the very nice chef and with Nam, who is the heart and soul of this great restaurant. We cooked delicious food and really learned hands on how to prepare it at home. We even got the recipes in the end. We had fun cooking and then we could enjoy our homemade meals, which was a great experience. This cooking class is definitly a must do on your trip to vietnam. You shouldnt miss this great experience.

Highlight of our Vietnam trip

Nam and her team made our trip! The adventure through the market kicked off a fabulous morning. The kids all had a great time and learnt to cook several dishes - we loved cooking and loved eating! Absolutely 5 stars, thanks Nam and team 😃

Our guide/chef made all the difference!

We had a private cooking class and tour of the market and it was wonderful! We enjoyed wandering through the market and trying local fare (i.e. Mangosteens, which our guide bought for us), as well as cycloning around the city. The cooking class itself does not require a lot of cooking, and while the food turned out delicious, it wasn't anything particularly special. Overall it was a lot of fun and we loved hearing about Vietnamese culture and history from our guide, and I would suggest this cooking class to anyone traveling through the area!

Absolute must do!

This was such an amazing experience I would recommend it to anyone traveling though Hanoi. We arrived on the 13th and were leaving the 17th, with Tet (the lunar new year) being on the 16th we were pretty limited to the days we could schedule the class as most places were closed or had modified hours leading up to Tet. The bar manager, who I believe ran the scheduling, and who I had been emailing with made sure that we were able to take part in the class. He went out of his way to schedule us this class even though they were closed. Tuan was such a great teacher and friend and shared many great things about. The food we cooked was unbelievable and hard to believe we cooked such amazing food so easily!

Great way to spend a morning
Oct 2017 • Couples
Just 2 of us and Tuan as our host made for a very pleasant laid back morning. It included the usual Vietnam hair-raising trip through the streets to the Cho Hom market for a look at the vast collection of fresh ingredients available then a taxi back to Highway4 to help prepare our lunch ably led by Tuan.

Learnt some interesting techniques that will come in handy back home, and got to taste their own brand Sontinh spirits.

All the cooking school receipes provided afterwards including the ones we did not cook.

Great cooking lessons
Aug 2017 • Couples
In Hanoi for first time, and unfortunately it was summer and stinking hot 40 degrees. But our cooking instructor Ming took us to the market, showed us different types of vegetables and their usage. We then went to highway 4 cooking school and learnt how to cook four fabulous dishes. I am a total flop non-cook person and my husband is s bit of a gourmet Masterchef. Ming was patient and had us chopping and dicing in no time. We made spring rolls and sauce. Beef rolls, fried rice authentic and sweet balls. We all went downstairs after cooking and feasted on our banquet. Was great fun and very professional. We got the receipes emailed to us. Considering it was soooo hot the whole session went well . Perhaps was scaled towards me as a non cook. Let them know your level so Ming can tailor to suit.

Thanks for your positive review despite the disappointment on your second visit to Highway4. I wonder however if you would mind moving this review to our listed restaurants (Highway4 Hang Tre) rather than under our cooking class programme. Many thanks in advance.

an excellent way to spend a day in Hanoi
Mar 2017 • Couples
We had an excellent cooking lesson with Tuan. we were collect from our hotel by cyclo and taken to the local market. Tuan bought us some fruit to enjoy and bought us some rice paper to bring home with us. We cooked several dishes all of which were explained thoroughly. We then sat down and enjoyed the fruits of our labour, with a free drink included. We would highly recommend this for anyone visiting Hanoi and looking for something extra to do.

Great cooking class!

Really enjoyed our morning cooking class taught by Tuân, he was so friendly. He took us to the market to buy fresh ingredients, and answered all of our questions. When we told him about a certain fruit we had recently tried and enjoyed, he immediately bought some for us to enjoy after our meal. He was very patient, and didnt try and take over if we made a mistake. The food we cooked was absolutely delicious, we will definitely be trying to recreate the recipe at home! Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic class - a must do in Hanoi
Dec 2016 • Friends
I was with a group of friends in Hanoi and we were looking to do a cooking course - this one was the cheapest we found at $45 each. So glad we did this one! Our chef, Tuân was very engaging and informative. He was friendly and happy with a genuine interest in food and happy to answer our questions.
We went to the local market and he took the time to show us various fruits, meats and vegetables. We even tried some bits.
Back at the cookery school we made Saigon special spring rolls, beef sautéed with garlic, black pepper and vegetables, caramelised fish and pork with lemongrass, chilli and ginger and floating rice flour cakes. As we could not go on a cyclo to the market, Tuân also showed us how to make banana flower salad. We then took our food down to the restaurant and ate together. Everything was delicious and the spring rolls were the best I'd ever tasted! We left there with recipes, certificates, happy faces and full tummies.
Well worth the money. Can't wait to try these meals again at home!
