After doing some research I decided to book the 3D/2N Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island cruise with Vega Travel for a group of my friends. The trip far exceeded my expectations and Dem was probably the best tour guide I've had on a holiday. The trip included an active and busy itinerary, and I lost count of the number of dishes we were served for our various meals (I'm Vegetarian and was more than well catered for). The small group size on the boat was ideal as it is easier to travel to the caves and other sites before the crowds arrive and you get to know the other people on your boat. I also wasn't expecting the incredible view from the hotel on Cat Ba Island!
Our tour guide Dem made the trip memorable, treating us like his own friends/family. He kept us entertained not only throughout the trip but also on our 3 hour bus to and from Halong City from Hanoi with stories about his family, and Vietnamese culture. He even joined us for a few rounds of cards on the cruise home!
I'll be recommending this trip and in particular, Dem, to my friends and family.
Tip: convince your tour group to go out for dinner with Dem on Cat Ba Island - you won't regret it!

My boyfriend and I took a 2D/1N tour to Ha Long Bay with Dem as the tour guide. Dem was an amazing tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about ha long bay, Hanoi, and Vietnam in general, telling lots of stories and interesting information that we didn’t know prior. He was always smiling and cracking jokes. Additionally, Dem and the crew took great care of your needs, even offering to be woken up late at night if there’s anything someone needed while on the boat. Dem and the crew were experts in knowing where the least amount of tourists were in order to give us the best experience possible. Dem even took pictures of us on the bay and emailed them to us after the trip.
The boat and cabins themselves were clean and had a safety box for locking valuables if inclined to do so. We were even able to open the window in our room to feel the beautiful 70 degrees Fahrenheit breeze of the bay in December/January. We had lunch and dinner on the first day and breakfast and lunch on the second. All meals were plentiful and delicious. As far as drinks, the bar has free filtered water to refill water bottles. Any other drinks, including coffee (except for breakfast one morning), are available to purchase. A beer is around $2 USD and cocktails around $7.
Overall, we were extremely impressed by the tour and Dem himself. We had a great time and would happily book another trip with Vega travel again.

It came to me with such a big surprise on how well Vega Travel organised this trip. Send to me that they've successfully organised and thought of all the finger details involved. The early morning visit to the caves, the food, the entertainment, punctual timing, the crews and a wonderful, experienced, humourous tour guide Duc from Vega Travel. Although the price seems to be dearer than some of the other competitors, I would definitely pay the price knowing that I'm with a professional touring crews. Will definitely tour Northern Hanoi (Sapang) with Vega Travel again.
Thank you again Vega Travel for such a wonderful experience in HaLong Bay. Thank you Duc for your services during the tour, I'll catch up with you again during the Sapang visit.

Fantastic experience on the 2D1N Bai Tu Long Bay cruise with vega travels and our wonderful guide Duc. Every spot we visited was beautiful and we were often the only group there, even in the surprising cave which we entered as soon as it opened. The itinerary and food were great and Duc was kind, informative and one of the most hilarious people I’ve met. He learnt everyone’s names, played games with us late into the evening and made the whole experience truly memorable. Would love to return and do a longer cruise, so long as Duc is my guide again!

We booked the two day one night tour with Vega and from the moment we met out guide La La in the old quarter for pick up, she had us laughing and feeling completely relaxed. La La was an exceptional guide and the itinerary was fantastic to avoid the crowds and not be rushed. We learned lots, laughed lots, had plenty of delicious food and would highly recommend Vega to anyone looking to book a Ha Long Bay tour.

Lan Ha Bay Cruise / Unforgettable memories
We were absolutely amazed by the cruise we went on with Vega Travel. We booked the 3 days/2 nights cruise and every minute was fantastic. The landscapes we travelled through were breathtaking and we couldn't get enough from the views from our room, the bar, the sun deck - just from anywhere on the ship.
The ship and rooms were in very good condition. The entire crew of the ship was super nice and made everyone feel right at home. A very special shout-out to our guide Hieu who nicely guided our bigger group on the first day (including an amazing kayak tour into the sunset) and took a smaller group of only 6 people on a very memorable, lovely second day out to Cat Ba Island. Hieu managed to make this little group feel like a family for the day.
We only wished this cruise could have lasted a week.
Day trip to Perfume Pagoda
After the great experience with Vega Travel on the cruise we booked a day trip to the Perfume Pagoda from Hanoi with them. It was a very well organized private tour. We felt in good hands with our driver and our guide Hui was a very enjoyable companion for the day who had plenty of information on the Perfume Pagoda and spoke excellent English. He stopped at a few stalls along the way and gave us different snacks to try which was a super nice extra (the chestnut cakes were delicious). We couldn't have asked for a nicer guy and guide.

We got what we paid for and the landscape was beautiful. However,our experience could have been better if our guide Thang enjoyed his job a little bit more. He took us everywhere he was supposed to in a military manner but provided little information about the sites. He also seemed annoyed he had to deal with the difficulties a group of elderly people had during the trip. Overall, this is not a bad agency and the tour is decently priced for Halong bay standards. I guess it just depends on who is leading it.

We had a fantastic tour with Vega and our guide Huy was amazing, super kind and welcoming, very professional, and a real gentleman. He was very knowledgeable and told us a lot about Halong and Vietnam generally.
The boat was perfect too - the room was very comfortable (even more so than our hotel in Hanoi!) and the food was excellent and plenty. They also were very kind in catering for my wife, who is vegetarian.
I would certainly recommend the tour, especially if you get a guide like Huy, they seem to be one of the more reasonably priced in Hanoi and also take you to less busy spots for kayaking and spending the night.

This trip was the highlight of our two weeks in Vietnam. We did the 3D 2N Ha Long Bay/Cat Ba Island trip. The itinerary is well thought out and filled with activities without feeling rushed. Food was great and there was always plenty of it. The best part of our cruise was our guide Dem. His unwavering enthusiasm really made it a special trip. He engaged with all the people on the trip and clearly loves what he does and has a real passion for Ha Long Bay. Even though we went in the off season (it was a bit cold but the plus was it was less crowded) we still had a good time and got to appreciate the natural beauty. Would definitely recommend this trip and would do it again.

We had a great time with Vega Travel. Everything was so smooth and taken care of but the highlight was our tour guides. We had two tours after having a great time on the first tour to Ha Long Bay which we wished was booked for longer than the two days we had booked. Our tour guide was very entertaining and enthusiastic and this was the same for both tours with Duc and Diem, who went the extra mile to make us feel more relaxed and welcome. Great time and great views.

Can I ask how the tour experience has been for travellers during the outbreak? We still plan to travel in a couple of weeks and just wondering if there is anything we should expect, not expect in regards to the slow down in tourism and how everything is running in Vietnam. Thank you in advance.

Tour was well organized, everything on time, the food on the boat tasteful and diverse. The ship was ok, no luxury, but the cabin with a toilet and shower good enough for one night. We had excellent guide who took care of avoiding the crowds during the visit to the cave rich in stalagmites and stalactites. We were happy to see the Halong, but only in two days tour. There is four hours drive from Hanoi to Halong and to do that in one day is too exhausting.

Hola! Hay actividades que, con niños tan pequeños, será un poco complicado, como por ejemplo el kayak, visitas a islotes, cuevas, miradores... Por lo demás, en el crucero, sin problema.

We booked two consecutive tours just a day in advance. When the weather forecast changed Vega were excellent and switched the tours around to make best use of the good weather. They keep group sizes small, so if you want to be sure of having a place, the earlier you can book the better. They were also willing to refund the cost of the tour when the weather changed, although we decided to go through with it and were rewarded with a wonderful trip.
The two tours we booked were Halong Bay and SaPa.

Viajamos para el mes de octubre (2 personas). Nuestra intención es hacer Sapa (2 días y una noche) y Halong bay lo mismo. Los tours realizados por la agencia Vega Travel son en Español o todos en Ingles? se tiene que realizar un deposito para la reserva?. El precio de la pagina web es negociable una vez estas en sus oficinas o no hay regateo posible?

Hola que tal. Los tours són en inglés però se entienden muy bien. Tendréis que pagar un depósito y el resto aquí en las oficinas. No hay regateo posible, son precios cerrados pero son una gran agencia. Nosotros hemos hecho el tour de 3 días de Halong Bay. Precioso.
