About
Hanoikids, established in 2006, is known as a student-run organization based in Hanoi, Vietnam. By voluntarily taking city tours for English speaking travellers in Hanoi, we hope to bring travellers from all over the world an insight into our culture, tradition and beautiful sight-seeings. Each member of the club can explore their full potential through cross-cultural experiences and extracurricular activities.

Murph and Kirin gave us an truly memorable experience in Hanoi visiting the city monuments. The wee very informative and went above and beyond what we had expected from the day. They gave to us a whole day of their time to make an enhanced ana memorable day. Their local knowledge was really good and any historical facts they were not sure of they followed up with in email afterwards which was truly diligent.
They made the whole day fun and very enjoyable for us. Their language skills were brilliant, the whole day was done at the right pace and we never got lost once even though they took us to many places throughout the day. They took us too to a fab coffeeshop called Cong specialising in coconut coffee which we would never have found and added to our day.
This is our first time in Vietnam and meeting Murph and Kirin helped us to appreciate the Vietnamese way of life and gave us a lovely and informative introduction as to the Vietnamese way of life. They also recommended restaurants to us as well as the Saigonhotpot to us a similar scheme in Ho Chi Min City that we shall definitely try when we visit too.
We truly recommend Hanoikids.org to any tourists visiting Hanoi and especially Murph and Kirin. Thank you for keeping us safe on all the roads for the day and teaching us especially the right way to cross a busy Hanoi junction 😁😁😁😁

We booked with Hanoikids as they were recommended to us by our friends from Saigon Hotpot and as always, Hanoikids has impressed me in every way.
We booked in two odd days, Dec 31 the end of the year and January 2 the start of the year but surprisingly, they still make way to provide us with the guides!
I didn’t expect that our stay in Hanoi would turn out to be one of the most unforgettable and it’s all because of the experiences that we encountered on our two tours with Hanoikids.
Special shoutout goes to Cozy and Jenny, these two cheerful girls accompanied us with the street food tour, all the foods that they suggested were suppeer tasty, we really enjoyed eating and spending our time with them.
Another special shoutout goes to our adorable city tour guide Tuna Nhung, we really enjoyed walking around the streets of the Old Quarters while talking and laughing to our silly jokes along the way.
If ever we get the chance to come back to Hanoi, we would still be booking with Hanoikids and hopefully we can meet up with those three girls again.

We booked the morning tour for Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and Westlake.
Our wonderful HanoiKids guides were "Loong"and "Lucy". We learnt lots and had a great experience hearing about them and their views of the city and what is is like living and learning in Hanoi.
Highly recommended if you can fit in a tour - be aware they are quickly booked out, so arrange ahead of time.

Another big thumbs up for the Hanoi Kids organisation.
We booked online a few days in advance and received confirmation by email.
We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon out with Tsang and Le. They met us at our hotel and straightaway we were impressed with their enthusiasm, local knowledge and excellent English language skills.
We paid for a Grab taxi (organised by them on an app) to the Temple of Literature. Tsang and Le guided us round giving us relevant info. (We paid the small entrance fee for them).
We then went for an interesting walking tour of the old Quarter and went for a meal at a local restaurant (we paid for all 4 of us).
We loved our afternoon with them; they were very intelligent and interested in our lifestyle at home; similarly we were fascinated by the insights into Vietnamese culture that they shared.
We offered a tip which was refused, however we gave a donation to the organisation.

I only gave HanoiKids a week notice before visiting and they were able to accommodate my schedule.
Mai and Son met my partner and I at our hotel and we took a Grab to the Temple of Literature. They gave us a 45 min tour of the facilities and answered all of our questions.
Afterwards we had a short coffee break and we had an interesting exchange in conversation where we asked each other about our daily lives and how things are in each other’s society and cultures.
We finished with a short tour of an ancient home before they recommended us a lunch spot.
Remember these are mostly University students who are volunteering their time so be thankful and respectful of their time and efforts. I would highly recommend this to friends and family and suggest e-mailing them in advance with a description of your preferences or things you are interested in seeing.

We went to the Ethnology Museum, under their suggestion: it was so worthy! The museum is great, but our guide Murph and Ly really are what made this experience super funny and interesting! They know a lot of things, they where explaining us old traditions and cultural behavior while walking in real old houses. Moreover, they knew funny things and were super happy to share tips and recommendations of Hanoi.
They are young and curious guys, it was a pleasure meeting then. Moreover, We got a mail few hours our tour full of interesting tips and link collected especially for us! I think we will take other tours when friends will be visit us in the next months!

We couldn't be more happy with our city tour. Junn and Zenda showed us around some beautiful places and were very elaborate with the information about all the places. They were just so lovely and friendly that they made us feel very comfortable and we loved chatting with them. Their communication was professional and they were quite attentive to all our requirements and accommodated them seamlessly. They also took us to a super delicious bun cha place which was just the cherry on top. We couldn't have had such a great experience of the city and also its rich culture and history if it wasn't for them. We abstely admire the initiative of Hanoikids to make the experience in Hanoi so comfortable and intersting with such amazing people like Zenda and Junn.

All over the world, we've been having such a hard time due to the Coronavirus, and now we're happy to inform you that with no cases of community spread since April 17, Vietnam’s once-bustling stalls, shops and restaurants, and all fantastic tourist attractions in the entire country are now allowed to operate again. With such encouraging news, Hanoikids is ready to re-open our tour booking request on June 15th, 2020. We're looking forward to seeing you soon.

We would highly recommend joining Hanoikids Food Tour for a personalized exploration of the Hanoi Food scene with local students. Met promptly at our hotel, El and Minh led us through the streets of the Old Quarter to a variety of Vietnamese Restaurants to expose us to food we might not have discovered on our own. Both my husband and I are vegetarian, and our hosts made sure the menu choices met our requirements. The highlight of the evening was the chance to chat with both young women about family life and their university experiences in Vietnam. This is a volunteer activity for the students who use this as an opportunity to practice English. Their communication skills were excellent, matched by their delightful personalities.

I have been to Hanoi 4 times/twice with my wife and twice with my brother and on each occasion we have been guests of Hanoikids.
We usually do a half day tour in Hanoi and a night-time food tour.
The student guide are excellent, we always have two and generally young ladies.
On the trips they are full of information and it is a real two interaction as they take an interest in where you're from, your work history and family life. No doubt all part of practise of interacting in english.
Food tours are a delight and we have been to some real out of the way restaurants , the food has alway been great and we receive a fair slice of Hanoi's bill of fare.
We have been to a number of well hidden eating places down alleys and up stairs and on these out of the way places often you are the only farangs in the place and the locals love it.
If you are going to Hanoi make use of Hanoikids it is a two way experience. Their website is easy to navigate with a selection of recommended tours.
Note in HCMC the similar service is call Saigon Hotpot and there is now also one in Hoi An

A recommended activity to do in Hanoi! Our two Hanoikids guides Doris and Howles were so lovely and sweet. Initially we requested a late afternoon food tour with a focus on interesting cafes but when it changed to an evening session, at the last minute we requested something different for dinner. Unfortunately, the day happened to be Vietnam's National Day so the area near Hoan Kiem lake was packed and eateries were packed too. Walking around was difficult and dining choices were limited. We managed to have a tasty dinner trying Cha Ca (fried fish) and the restaurant had a great view. It's advisable to make requests in advance so that the Hanoikids have more time to plan, call ahead, make a booking, etc. if necessary. Overall, we enjoyed meeting our local guides and getting an insight into their lives and ambitions. We would book with Hanoikids again.

Are the tours suitable for a more mature couple or are they more oriented to younger people? We are over 60's but would love to have an authentic tour and interact with local people.

hi debra. We are late sixties. Suitable for all ages. Your guide will arrange taxis or grab if the distance is a little longer than you want to walk. You pay for this. Their knowledge is comprehensive and they do it free to practice their english. We did these sorts if tours in saigon, delat, hoi an, hue and hanoi. Cannot speak highly enough of the young students, we loved them all

Yeap. It is free to use hanoi kids service. But you have to pay something like coffee or meal and crab taxi. I am also not good at english but it was okay. I used translator.

Hi Ellie - we were in Hanoi a month ago - it was recommended in our guide to book in advance but we only managed to ge5 our act together two days before and they managed to organise it perfectly. “Kevin” took a long bus journey to get to us the night of our arrival in Vietnam. He sat for 10 minutes and asked if there was anything we didn’t eat - perfect for you - we then walked to restaurants we wouldn’t have dreamed of stepping inside and the food was lovely. Usually only one type of meal available. He wanted to show us his favourite ice cream shop too but it was a Sunday and closed

I did not book the food tour with Hanoi kids.
I assume they would like to know if there is any food you do not like ( eg snails are a very popular food in Vietnam: do you want to try them?) /you are alergic to/ if you have any dietary requirements ( eg vegetarian).

You make a donation to the club. They are happy and honored with any amount. I think our contribution was equal to around 20 Canadian per couple so 40 for the morning half day tour.
