Worth a visit, especially at the weekend
The lake is a nice retreat from the general hustle and bustle of the traffic in Hanoi. It’s a lovely area to have a walk and watch the people doing their exercise. We went for several walks in this area, including when the streets were shut off to the traffic at the weekend. It’s very popular with the local people and tourists alike. Well worth a visit. We were very popular with some of the younger generation who were practising their language skills and were so excited to talk to us.

    Good try
I enjoyed meeting lot of young and friendly people there. Food is good. Different kind of music though sometimes it's a bit noisy. Ice-cream and coffee shops are worth to try.

Weekend the area by the lake comes live.
It had been a few years since our last visit to Hoan Kiem Lake and fortunately for us it was a Saturday afternoon and we were able to spend 2 hours there while waiting for our transport to Ba Be Lake. The streets around the lake are closed at the weekends and there were plenty of activities including a market with food stalls and many other stalls t the north end of the lake. Children were playing games and at the south end of the lake children were riding bikes and other contraptions.

Walking Street & Weekend Night Market
Walking Street is every weekend from Fri evening to late Sunday Night. Streets are blocked off for pedestrians, from vehicle traffic for the whole weekend, including daytime. There is also a weekend Night Market. And lots of street food.

    Nice place to visit
It is a nice place to walk around, especially at the weekend. There are walking streets, supermarkets, and restaurants here. You should try lemon ice cream here. One of my friend said that, if you haven't tried lemon ice cream, it's like you haven't been to Hoan Kiem lake🤣.

    A Walking Paradise!!
Hoan Kiem Lake is the famous tourist attraction. The aesthetic thing I noticed that, in weekends, these area will be restricted for vehicles and all peoples including tourists can walk freely through this roads. The roads are filled with lots of food counters, shopping kiosks and entertainment. The native peoples of Hanoi conducted an event like a festival in weekends, lots of dances and songs. A true paradise!! For me, Its a must visit place!

Hoan Kiem Lake: A Tranquil Oasis Amidst Hanoi's Bustling Rhythm
The moment I approached the lake, I was captivated by its tranquil waters, framed by lush greenery. Strolling along the promenades that encircle the lake, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. The peaceful ambiance was a welcome escape from the vibrant chaos of the surrounding streets.

Experience the walking street around Hoan Kiem Lake
The walking street around Hoan Kiem Lake is one of my favorite places in Hanoi. This walking street is clean and has many beautiful cafes and small shops. What I like most is that you can sit on the side of the road, enjoy a cup of coffee and observe life going on around you.

Liveliness and relaxation by the lakeside
I experienced a relaxing and fun space on the banks of Hoan Kiem Lake. Whether you come in the morning to join the locals in exercising or in the evening to enjoy street food, this walking street is always full of life. Sparking lanterns, soft music, and a bustling atmosphere create an extremely memorable experience.

Hanoi is known as the city of Lakes. This is quite a large lake right in the heart of the city with a good paved footpath and lots of shade and benches to sit and watch the world go by. Lots of restaurants and bars etc. The island and the temple are nothing special but hey if you are here it would be rude not too! There was one day when they closed the roads around the lake and there was music and dancing and kids driving in electric cars.
There are endangered large soft-shell turtles swimming in the lake, and to see one of these gentle giants is considered very auspicious. Unfortunately we didn't see one.
The local youngsters come here to talk to tourists to practice their English.
Nice place to visit after a frenetic walk around the Old Quarter.

The lake is best experienced at night. Lights illuminate the lake attractions and it definitely sets the mood for walk and food trip.

Fortunate that our hotel, New Vision Palace Hotel, is just a few blocks away from here and to the old quarters. This is my favorite place in Hanoi.

This was our first day in Vietnam. Our guide took us to Hoan Kiem Lake Walking Street. During the day it is busy, but at night when it is all lit up, looks stunning. It is where a lot of the local people gather to chat play games, or simplyeat a snack or liston to the buskers.

At the weekend the streets around the lake are closed to traffic and it becomes a walking street area. There are musicians, dancers, people playing games and much more. At the south end of the lake children have fun on small cars etc. We have visited Hanoi several times and always make sure we are there at the weekend.

Beautiful place to spend an evening. I think it needs to be visited both during the daylight as well as in the night. The whole area around the lake gets beautifully eluminated and gets a very positive vibes with live singing programs on certain days and free dancing classes for locals every day. I have seen lake districts of UK, Slovenia, Austria but have never seen such beautiful eluminated lake area anywhere. There are plenty of restaurants around the lake for dinner. It doesn't take more than a couple of hours to complete a walk around the lake with lot of photo stops.

So beautiful and peaceful place.
Near by Hoan Kiem Lake with another name "Turtle Lake", which has story behind it involving a sword ...
I believe you won't be disappointed when you come here. Love...

A nice walking street around Hoan Kiem lake. Young people can play shuttlecock, rollerblade, play sports, socialize, shoot vlogs... the couple has romantic seats along the lakeside..

Such a nice experience! I have seen this place on Youtube before and to be honest, the video didn't do its justice. The views are so much better in real life. In the morning, the streets were tranquil while it is really crowded and fun at night. There are lots of traditional activities and the atmosphere is so nice and dynamic. Highly recommend for anyone who want to dive into the culture of this city!
