Food is great

Food is a little bit more expensive. However, the food was so good. Waitresses all speak English and it was very easy to communicate with them.

We booked this class in the morning for the afternoon session and it ended up being a private class for only $35. Tham picked us up from our hotel and we walked to the local markets where she talked about all the produce and we picked up ingredients for our meal. The cooking was great, really interesting and the food... More

Whether you like cooking or simply eating, The experience from travelling to the market, buying/exploring ingredients to actually cooking and learning new techniques is amazing! We had a blast for the 3 hours and the chef was hilarious and very friendly! Amazing!

We were initially greeted by Chef Thao at our hotel, who helped us get a taxi to the Blue Butterfly location. There, upon arrival, we were immediately given a watermelon cocktail and told about our planned itinerary. Our small group of 5 (they usually like to keep it around that amount, making it more intimate) proceeded to walk into the... More

The chef was very friendly. At the beginning we went to morning market to buy ingredients for meal preparation. You might see a lot of things at the morning market whereby you could never see it in your country. It was a good experience and i am glad that I had took the cooking course in Hanoi.

Visiting Hanoi for the first time, and lovers of Vietnamese food, we set about finding somewhere we could take a class. There’s no shortage of places in the city offering lessons, and it’s impossible to vouch for the others – but it’s difficult anything topping the Blue Butterfly. It more than earns the rave reviews on here – it’s the... More

As a visitor to a city, you need some sort of orientation, some sort of understanding of how the locals live. From a food aspect, the Blue Butterfly provides this. We were met at our hotel by the very friendly and knowledeable chef, Thao. He took us to the restaurant then on a walking tour of the market. To have... More

It starts off with a walking tour to the local markets to buy fresh ingredients. Our tour guide told us about the different types of ingredients and what they're used for, and also you get to try a special Vietnamese dessert called Che. The actual cooking class was great fun, our chef (Tien?) was educational, funny and very charming. The... More

Absolutely fantastic experience that was tailored to what I wanted to do. I was lucky enough to have a one to one. We went to the markets and even stopped off for a few beers! Great day, would highly recommend.
