Beware of Active Travel Asia (1 Replies)
Hi - we had a dreadful experience with a tour agency by the name of Active Travel Asia, so much so, that we wanted to share our experience with others given this forum is often used to ask for recommendations about good tour guides to use. Given our experiences we can't provide advice as to a good agency/tour guide, but we think our experience may be a useful warning to others about using this company. We used Active Travel for an overland trip through Laos and Vietnam in March/April 2013....More

I am sorry to hear about your frustrating experiences with the said agent. I suggest you spend more time researching about your destination rather than talking or exchanging emails with an agent. TripAdvisor and travel blogs contains limitless wealth of information and if you still can't find the answers you are looking for then you are very welcome to ask her in the forum. Knowledge is power.

Halong Bay cruises-active travel asia? (10 Replies)
My wife and I are considering booking a kayaking/cruise trip to Halong bay with a company called Active Travel Asia. 2 questions: 1) Has anyone had experience or heard anything about Active Travel Asia? We want to book with a safe and reputable company. 2) Is a 3-day, 2-night trip to Halong Bay too much time? The main full day would focus on kayaking. Thanks for any advice!

Hi, I also have never heard about Phong Lan Group and I also believe that that price for a group tour instead of the private one. The private one is much more expensive. I think that you should take the private tour with the professional company who are very experiences in this field as trekking to mountain Fansipan is not as easy as trekking in the village in Sapa. I also found that Active Travel Asia more expensive than Phong Lan Group as it included more services like English...More
