We did both the one day boat tour of Cat Ba Island and the bus travel from Hanoi to Cat Ba. Both were great experiences. Our tour guide, Sean, on the boat tour was amazing. He told us the stories of the island and also let us relax and unwind to enjoy the scenery. The kayaking was a lot of fun and he kept us away from the crowds on water and identified a real langur monkey to show us. Would definitely recommend to those with a day to spare.

We booked the Catba express from Ninh Binh to Catba town. They were right on time, we left at 7:30am and 3 hours later we were waiting at the dock to board the speed boat the the island (about a 10 min. Journey) then boarded our private sprinter van which to us directly to our hotel. It was door to door private service for the 5 of us. I booked by WhatsApp and everything went smoothly. That way we got there in time for lunch and didn’t waste anytime. For us it worked perfectly. Of course it was not cheap. But it was worth it!

Cat Ba express cared for our every need. We wanted to go from Hanoi to Cat Ba island and they organised everything from busses to boats. They even helped us get to our accomodation on the Island. The entire trip was extremely professional and smooth sailing.
We also used this service for a tour of Lan Ha Bay. They set us up with all of the transportation from a bus to the boat and the boat itself was high quality and clean.
The staff were exceptional and friendly! They spoke amazing English and cracked a few jokes that made the experience all the more enjoyable. The staff members that stood out the most were two men named Bing and a man named Dai. They were passionate about their work and cared for the group professionally.
Over all this experience was amazing and I would highly recommend Cat Ba Express for anyone who wants to have a good time on Cat Ba Island.

Smooth ride, and the best bus we have tried in Vietnam. HÀ TĨNH our informative and funny guide, told us about Cat Ba, and gave us great tips about trekking, prices and which tours were good. Gave out free water and wet wipes.
Seats could recline a lot, and there was so much legroom. USB’s didn’t work in our seats, but was no big issue.
We ordered the bus an hour before departure at 07:10, got picked up and dropped off at desired location. 690.000vnd for two people including limousine bus, 5 min speedboat ride, and bus from harbour to hotel in Cat Ba City.

We embarked on a journey to Cat Ba Island in August, during our summer vacation, with the services of Cat Ba Express. Despite being in the midst of a bustling peak season, the bus was punctual in its departure. The conduct of the staff was marked by commendable professionalism and politeness, making the journey incredibly smooth and pleasant. They provided us with a convenient pick-up from our hotel located in Hanoi's historic Old Quarter and subsequently dropped us at our accommodation in Cat Ba. Our guide, Son, was a treasure trove of information about the archipelago and offered some insightful tips for maximizing our relaxation during our island sojourn. Subsequently, we availed ourselves of an additional service to marvel at the beauty of Lan Ha Bay aboard the SERENITY CRUISES, a service they offer, which turned out to be a phenomenal expedition. I have nothing but high recommendations for this company to my friends. My gratitude for their services is immense.

We booked tickets to Hanoi through Cat Ba Ventures, to take us to our hotel direct from a 2 day Ha Long Bay cruise. The journey was very well organised, and the switch from bus to speed boat and onto another bus on the mainland went without a hitch.
A shout out for the Cat Ba Express host on the bus, Tinh. We chatted with him quite a bit during the journey to help him with his questions about learning English, although his English is already excellent!
Also, when we arrived in Hanoi, the bus could not drop us at our hotel due to the weekend road closures, so Tinh very kindly walked with us, taking one of our cases, and escorted us to the door of our hotel! This was a great help when arriving in such a busy confusing place as Hanoi! Thanks!

This transportation company is extremely organized, safe and punctual. Not to mention reasonably priced and very comfortable. They give you a bag filled with water and snacks just an extra touch. I’d definitely recommend this company

We booked a day trip to Haling bay with departure from Hanoi city. Departure was 20 minutes late and then we had to fill in all our details again (which I already did at the online booking). Guide (Mr Lang) was very helpful and did his best to control the group (31 pax) which he did very well while he stayed calm with some guests which kept coming late at the various rendezvous points during the trip.
In the description of the trip online it was not mentioned that there would be an opportunity to go swimming. Since there was also the possibility to climb the Tritop mountain we did just that (which was rewarded by a terrific view!).
Possibly because of all the delays during the trip (often, but not only, caused by guests being too late) we were back in Hanoi only at 21.30.

Great service......these guys are just getting back on their feet so will be smoother. Think we got the biggest Vietnamese weekend to visit Catba but they were very apologetic for the minor delays which really weren't an issue. Defo prefer this to that trip via HaLong city.
