We were picked up at our hotel by Giang. She is a very knowledgable young lady both about food and Vietnamese culture. She expertly guided through the busy Hanoi streets to some of the best food. She explained the dishes very well. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

There are too many food stores in old quarter hence this tour is much needed as they will bring you to the nice and popular store where only local will know.

We had a fab night on this tour, our guide Gian was charming, knowledgeable and very happy to educate us on all sorts of aspects of Vietnamese eating and other cultural things.
The tour took us off the beaten track to little food hotspots and we were very happy to support local businesses and see a different side to Hanoi life than that which we would have seen if we’d stuck to usual tourist haunts.
All the family were happy to try the food (praise indeed with 3 late teens) and it was great to do this at the start of our trip to Vietnam as an intro to both food and culture.
Thanks Gian, you were great!

the food stops we made were totally unhealthy conditions. most of us come from countries were we can assume that the sanitary and food safety standards are enforced, well not here. My wife and I are in the food business and it was upsetting to see employees grab food items with dirty hands and then serve them to us. These food shops would be immediately shut down by food safety inspectors in any state of the USA. the agency Trip Advisor should select food shops for their tours, that at least meet minimum food safety standards, the health of the participating tourists is in serious jeopardy.

On behalf of Hanoi Local Food Tours team, I also would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you meet during your trip and shortcomings which make your journey on our tour become less perfect as in your expectation.
However, we would like to take some explanation about the negative comments that you mentioned in the review. We do hope the explanation will give you another angle on this issue.
Hanoi Local Food Tours aim to bring our customers the street food tours which focusing on real local experience, and it's not only about the food , it's also the insight of local culture and lifestyle. We want to show our guests the unique features of Hanoi culture and its food as the way it is to any Hanoian. Most food street locations have the same way of serving, and this is also one of the unique features of the local street vendors in Vietnam. We hope you understand that the standard in the USA is completely different from standard of Vietnam and especially the street food and we are aware that it can not meet the expectation of all travelers.
On the other side you can see many of our customers come and experience the same thing you did and had the same food as you had and they all happy and leave us positive comments because they are aware what is street food and put more attention on the local experience and dare to try new thing. We totally understand your point but everything exists with its own reason and the street food so.
Once again, we would like to apologize you very much for unhappy experiences on our tour. We also hope you could understand the shortcoming of local culture that we cannot control.

My wife and I were picked up at the Paradise Hotel by our guide Trung Nguyen (at the end of the night we voted him King), and we got right to the street food starting with Sticky Rice, then on through another 5 stops. Trung took the time to educate us on both the food origins and Vietnamese history. He even help my wife shop for a pair of sunglasses with great advice. We ended the night right near the hotel with some mango and ice cream dessert. Very enjoyable, great conversation, and we recommend highly!

Recently enjoyed a local food tour with my husband and 2 children (aged 19 and 14). Our host Duc (Joe) was excellent and took us to some great wee restaurants and cafes which we would have never stopped at. During the tour he was giving some information about Hanoi’s culture and recommending things we should do during our time in Hanoi. The highlight was seeing Hanoi’a first coffee shop. Would definitely recommend!

Our tour guide, QA, took us on an awesome tour through a his favorite streetside vendors in Hanoi. We got papaya salad, spring rolls, local beer, banh mi, chicken feet, peanuts, ice cream, bao, and a fruit dessert (forgot what it's called 😕)
My friend and I left incredibly stuffed (but extremely satisfied). Along the tour we got to learn more about the foods, the scene, and QA himself.
This tour is a must for any foodie coming to Hanoi. Ask to get toured by QA!

A really interesting opportunity to walk up little side streets that, as a tourist, you’d normally avoid and find a small stall selling just one great product, eating it and moving on, whilst accompanied by an excellent English speaking guide who also talked about the city and its customs. I can’t think of a better way to get to know the city - best early in your itinerary

Mia our guide and this tour was amazing. A must do in Hanoi. The tour started with her picking us up from hotel promptly on time. We then headed into the old quarter picking up four other guests on route (the perfect size group). Mia took us to local food places where we would never have tried. The food was AMAZING!! This trip with Mia is a must doin Hanoi - she the the perfect host - super friendly and Mia was so accommodating given I was Pescatarian.
