My mom and I have been traveling around the world, but We have never been treated with such an unfair & humiliating fashion. We stayed there for 2 nights before lunar new year. Just as we thought everything was perfect, there was this bartender who did not hesitate to show his implicit bias to my mom who does not speak English. I would not say it's racism since we are both Asian. This bartender approached to my mom asking for our orders. At first My mom did not answer him because she couldn't speak English, and then he SHOUTED OUT the question "MAY I TAKE YOUR ORDER?" as if he was public shaming my mom. EVERY OTHER GUESTS AT THE BAR WAS LOOKING AT US. The whole experience at the hotel bar shocked me that only guests who speak English deserve decent treatments...

Checked out the den bar while we were staying at la siesta hotel trendy. Ordered their signature cocktails; into the wild and the botanical. It was a great recommendation from Bartender Martin! Martin also showed us some cool tricks while making the drinks. Very chilled atmosphere with music and a speakeasy vibe. Would definitely recommend visiting!

So my friend and I have made our Vietnam holiday signature drink a martini - and we have had one ( or two ) every night of our holiday in HCMC,Hanoi and Luang Prabang over 2 weeks. We have enjoyed some well made martinis on our travels but tonight we found perfection!! James Bond would be impressed!! In fact you could imagine him here!! The Den Bar is attached to the La Siesta Trendy Hotel, one of the amazing EGH hotels (in the old quarter). It is downstairs and pulls off its colonial club, leather chair, dark panelling decor with great style. At 6:30pm on a Saturday we had the place to ourselves. Cool laid back music, a selection of bar snacks ( more a buffet actually-cheeses/cold meats/small canapé/ dry fruit/ bread sticks...)and a perfectly made martini (mixed by a personable, eager and attentive bartender) amounts to an outstanding experience. The frenzy of the city just up the stairs all but disappears. Big leather chairs grouped intimately invite you to relax awhile. Happy hour is later in the evening ( 2 for 1) but we were ready to move on to dinner ( upstairs at Redbean Restaurant). Not expensive the cocktails averaged 155,000VDN. I am almost loathed telling everyone how fab this place is but it deserves the praise. It also deserves people who like to put a little effort into their appearance, talk in hushed tones and give thanks that establishments like this exist.

Loved this small and cosy bar, the only downside were the TVs (I can’t help but watch them when they’re on!). Would highly recommend “into the wind” cocktail.

Enjoyed complimentary cocktails and western style canapes at the Den as part of our 2 night/3 day stay at La Siesta Trendy Hotel. We also purchased extra drinks as the venue is so relaxing and professional. Good choice of alcoholic beverages including cocktails. Loved my Long Island Iced Tea (no cola, soda instead). A definite hidden gem in the heart of the city.
