Has not aged well

Expected a creative space with activities, shopping and food. Instead it was primarily offices or empty lots with some cafe's no different to any other. The area was difficult to get to, and didn't feel safe compared with the more central parts of Hanoi. Built a few years ago, it seems it was a good idea that failed to blossom. Not worth the detour.

Steer clear of 1988 cafe. It is absolute garbage.

I am an expat living near creative city. They have exhibition spaces inside that occasionally host OK Art exhibitions, hence 1 point instead of 0. Do not go to 1988 Cafe, which is a restaurant made of shipping containers outside the main building. The service is absolute garbage. When I stopped by there for some lunch one day, they told me they didnt have what I wanted, and recommended something else instead, Com Rang, which has beef, vegetables and rice. I waited half an hour. They brought out the beef and vegetables finally, but no rice. I waited another 5 minutes. The manager came out and told me they had no rice, but they could give me noodles instead. I don't eat noodles much, and didnt want any. They just said sorry and took the beef and vegetables I had been picking at, probably to give to another customer. I could have gone to any other restaurant and eaten my lunch already by the time they had figured out they couldn't serve me the dish they had recommended. And how hard is it for them to restock rice in Vietnam? Ridiculous.

1-2 Nice Shops & Skatepark
Jan 2017 • Friends
There are some nice local shops and a good and cheap restaurant, I think it's really worth a visit. One shop in the basement has awesome jewellery!
There is a skatepark too, but most objects have a metal surface and are very used. Was fun for some hours, but the park north from the creative city's better for skateboarding.

It has a different atmosphere for sure compared with other area in Hanoi but I'm not sure it has a worth of a visit. The inside of the building is almost vacant while it has some cafes. I would not come again:-)
