One of the most popular stops on all the cruise at Halong Bay, be it day cruise, short hour cruise or longer ones. The Islands are named after Russian cosmonaut G. Titov. He visited Halong Bay and toured the area with Vietnam’s revered leader Ho Chi Minh. Uncle Ho consulted with the locals and, in a gesture of friendship between Vietnam and Russia, renamed the island to Titov.

One can spot the beach from far and mind you it is crowded most part of the day so if you really want to enjoy this island make sure your boat is one of the first few to reach here. We reached there towards evening as we were on the overnight cruise. There was a large crowd sitting, swimming on the beach. There is not much seating area except for the sand or few benches here and there. I guess there is some paid seating which we didn't explore.

Most people flock to take pictures with Mr.Titov so expect a wait if you keen to do so. There is small snack bar which has limited wares which are priced bit higher due to the location.

The best part is the summit which is good 400+ rugged stairs up the hill. Once there and enroute you get few good birds and panoramic views of the Bay. There is decent amount of crowd up there but beware the stairs are rugged and the railings are not there all the way. The view is awesome and worth to spend some time to catch the sunset (which we couldn't)

A little away from this island the boat takes you to another small catchment where one can take small rugged rowing boats and kayaks to pass thru a cave which was totally worth it.

Must visit but timing is critical.

Lovely walk (steep) to the top with stunning views.
There is a small cold drinks / coffee stands and a compact souvenir stand on the island, which you would not want any bigger. We paddled in the water (warm) and sat on the sand. Interesting statue of Russian astronaut, Gherman Titov (whom the island is named after). He visited in 1962 but the statue was inaugurated on the island in Sept 14

We were part of a small tour group, a beautiful island in its natural state, however, it was so overcrowded when we arrived we could hardly walk up & down stairs to lookout point, beautiful views if you could get close enough. They need to control amount of visitors at any one time much better. Strong sewage smel in water too!

Business
Tourist administration in Halong only allows people to swim at Titop beach ( a few others) and every single boat takes travellers there. It is too crowded , noisy and full of trash. You should better stay on the cruise and enjoy the bay rather than going to Titop beach

Nothing else special about Ti Top Island (aka Titov Island) other than the view from the top. The island gets its name from Russian cosmonaut Titov who, together with President Ho Chi Minh, visited the island in 1962.

As soon as you land at the dock there are dozens of boats and countless people all with the same intention. There is a statue near the dock, a refreshment bar, and beach that round out the activities.

The stairs, some 400 steps, do take some time to get up, as it is difficult to pass others on the narrow climb. The top has some amazing 360 degree views, and I think it is worth the climb and queuing. We arrived close to sunset and were fortunate to snap some great photos!

It's worth the trek to the top for the view. It offers a panoramic view of Halong bay which is fantastic. Yes it can be a bit busy but then anything that is popular is! Some of the steps are a bit steep, so I wouldn't recommend this for anyone who isn't confident on their feet.

We visited Ti Top Island, one of thd few islands in the Bay that's possible to visit, quite early in the day - we were the first or 2nd boat to arrive yey!
Most in our group chose to climb the 400 steps up to the summit, and were rewarded with stunning views across Ha Long Bay.
We chose to chill on the little sandy beach, before the crowds arrived. It was getting busy by 10.00, but not overly so, and it was a lovely interlude in our Ha Long Bay cruise.
Apart from the 400 steps to the summit, there are also a more few easy steps on the isle. Take water. Swim off the beach if you like.
We liked it here...

Ti Top Island is about a 15min hike up to the lookout point. It has steps the full way up. it is a very steep hike but worth it. There is also a beach to enjoy if you have time. The water was very cold when we were there in December.

Visiting this island during a tour of the bay on a small cruise. Standard stop on all day cruises, so everyone need o get off and forced visit. Nothing special unless you want to swim, otherwise just hang out with all the other tourists.

I have read a few reviews critical of the number of tourists at the island. The fact is that if a place is good and approachable I don't see how and why others will not be there. It has great views and a doable climb for most to the top. So do plan a trip if you don't necessarily hope to own the space. Enjoy the spectacular views of the islands nearby, especially since Poem Mountain is no longer accessible.
