About
Situated in the centre of the UNESCO-declared World Heritage area, the Sung Sôt or Surprise Grotto is on Bo Hòn Island, and is one of the finest and widest grottoes of Ha Long Bay.Ascending to the grotto, the way is covered by trees and foliage, and consists of great paved stone blocks.Inside, it is partitioned into two chambers; the first one being similar to a wide theatre hall. Many stalactites hang from the high ceiling, with numerous possible forms and shapes.

The amazing Sun Sot Cave in Halong Bay!
Jan 2020
This is a unique experience ... A small junk boat and the misty "Halong Bay", with its deep calm waters, intriguing limestones formations and, all of a sudden, we landed at "Bo Hon Island" for visiting "Sung Sot Cave". This is the biggest and most famous cave in "Halong Bay". After a short climb, we reached its entrance chamber, which leads into passages and other beautiful huge chambers with scenic lighting. No visit to "Halong Bay" would be complete without experiencing at least one of its innumerable caves - and "Sung Sot Cave" is really impressive. "Sung Sot Cave" means the "Amazing Cave" or the "Surprising Cave". Unmissable! Be ready for crowds in certain periods of the year. Enjoy!

Crowed
Dec 2019
Our guide warned us the first 2 smaller cave areas would be very crowded and to just keep moving to the third section how it is much large and people could be more spread out. He was right getting even into the caves were horribly crowded and so much pushing and shoving until you get into the 3 sections. I'm glad I went threw but I would never go again. it was amazing to see and walk threw. There was well lit paths and lots of stairs. There are tall so you do not have to worry about squatting down. If you get claustrophobic I wouldn't suggest going into the caves if there is a huge line up outside because it will be even worse once you are in the caves. If it is a quiet day you will have a better change.

A nice afternoon cruising the bay and exploring a cave
Nov 2019
This was a large cave to explore and see both the stalagtites and stalagmites and up and down on the many stairs, paths/boardwalks throughout the cave system. We enjoyed the walk through this cave.

Interesting experience
Feb 2020
There is but one way to get to the caves ... via boat, then off and into another world of formations as a traditional cave (stalagtites and stalagmites) as well as the wave formations carved into the ceilings and walls from the waters that previously flooded the caves.

Amazing cave systems
Mar 2020 • Friends
Was not expecting the cave to be so large over 200 Square metres this cave is beautiful. The locals have created safe walkways to allow tourists to admire the amazing natural forms withing the caves as part of Hà long bay.

This activity has quite a few steps those of which are quite steep there is not ramp or lift facility so unfortunatly it is not suitable for those with walking or heart difficulties.

Lovely caves
Mar 2019
Stopped here as part of a two day cruise of Halong Bay. The caves themselves are lovely and quite interesting to visit. However, they are packed full with tourists, and at points bottleneck, so it can be difficult to get through. Some tourists were also being very rude and pushing through when I visited, which really took away from the experience.
