About
Bai Tu Long Bay is the name of an area located in the east of Halong Bay Vietnam. Although it shares many similar geological characters with Halong Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay is considered as off the beaten tourist track with many deserted and pristine beaches, no less impressive karst mountains. The Bay has a rich biodiversity with two ecosystems: a tropical, moist, evergreen rainforest ecosystem; and a marine and coastal ecosystem. The area has scarcely seen any tourist development. A large number of guests, through online research, wish to visit the Bai Tu Long Bay because it is much less crowded than Halong Bay. The only disadvantage is that it does not have many grottos. The nearest place for a visit (Vung Vieng Fishing village) is at around 20 km from tourist port.

the guide was very good; the Bay. The Bai Tu Long Bay is mesmerizing, stupendous and amazing. The day started out sparkling blue skies, 12degrees celsius. I can reach out and touch the dense rock formations draped in luscious green vegetation. the serene song crescendo's then whisper it's glory for the eyes to behold. exceptional!

We decide to have 2 days boat trip in the Bai Tu Long Bay. We enjoyed 2 days of excellent views & activities ready for us. We go to caves on the tiny island. Then we try kayaking and fishing out of the boat in evening. We liked the baking period. The following day we spent a great time in floating village. Generally there was tasteful and great meal served. The boat has 4 cabins. Most have been neat and built with a bathroom. The staff was just fantastic. They do proper care for each detail and ensure we felt more comfortable and secure at all times. I suggest this particular cruise.

Dragon Pearl 2 hosted our family for 3 days (2 nights) in Bai Tu Long Bay over the holidays this year and it was an absolute highlight. No cell service made the family fully engage with each other. Beautiful time on the decks, kayaking, cooking lessons and enjoying the scenery in general. The staff was amazing. Chicken, Spider Man and Tom looked after all our needs throughout the journey and made the memory of a lifetime for our family. Highly recommend.

This was undoubtedly the highlight of the journey of mine! We went on a three day cruise in Halong Bay as well as the surrounding region. The outstanding attractiveness of Halong Bay was breathtaking. We went kayaking often to beaches along with kayaking by way of a cave! I'd certainly go again because it was an experience I won't ever forget!

Bai tu long truly offers mesmerising views and with very few boats around you can truly experience tranquility. This is much better than more touristy Halong bay. Staying overnight in the cruise completes the overall experience.

Great bay, much more personal and peaceful we had been on a private boat for a family of five. Pleasant to get much less folks around for kayak, views really just noticed some other boats near important attractions as kayaking/beach point, or caves, etc. Really a highlight of the journey of ours.

The little dragon was equally gorgeous as the much more popular Halong Bay, though it's intended to be less hectic. We just had aproximatelly six boats all around us at night. Ready going fishing and kayaking in the spot. A really incredible place.

My daughter and I went on a two day one night cruise. The activities on board were relaxed/entertaining. The food was excellent and there was a bar. Activities included kayaking/or beach and a visit to the caves. The staff were really attentive and good fun.

I just returned from an amazing 2-day, 1-night excursion with Indochina-Junk, on board the Red Dragon. Everything about the trip was wonderful, and I recommend this company - and Bai Tu Long Bay - to everyone. First, some geography, since I was confused before I booked this. Halong Bay (the UNESCO world heritage site) and Bai Tu Long Bay are two halves of the same bay. Indochina Junk secured a 50-year exclusive right to sail overnight in Bai Tu Long Bay. So, apparently, there are hundreds of boats plying the waters and caves of Halong Bay, but only Indochina-Junk (they have about 10 boats) in Bai Tu Long Bay. I can't compare the two areas, because I only went to Bai Tu Long Bay, but it was gorgeous, and the scenery every bit as beautiful as the pictures I've seen of Halong Bay. Maybe my only knock is that the caves weren't that exciting - but then again, I've been to Carlsbad caverns, so all caves pale in comparison to that. As for Indochina Junk, every interaction I had with them was smooth. I booked directly through them, and had no trouble doing so. Email contact was great, and I had no problem paying the $100 deposit with their online payment system (plus 3%, which is pretty standard). When I got to Hanoi, I just walked over to their office in the Old Quarter and paid the balance in cash (USD). They picked me up right on time from my hotel in an air-conditioned minivan with a few other fellow travelers, and we settled in (with complementary bottled water) for the 3 1/2 hour drive to Halong City, which included a stop halfway to use the facilities and buy tourist goods. The transfer to the boat was a piece of cake - they handled the luggage, and got it all in the correct cabins. The boat, Red Dragon I, was a dream; my pics confirm that it is just as beautiful and well kept as the pictures on the company's website suggest. Cabins were spacious and well air-conditioned; bathroom was clean; bed was comfortable; decorations were nice; shower had ample hot water and pressure. I cannot think of anything I would have improved. We sailed for 1-2 hours, during which time we ate lunch. Then we anchored at a small island and were ferried ashore so that we could walk into a cave, go kayaking, and swim (though I would have preferred to dive off the Red Dragon, which is what the crew were doing). Water was a lovely 80 degrees! Then back on board after about 2 hours for a shower and some relaxation time before dinner. The food throughout was outstanding: in taste, presentation, and quantity. All fresh ingredients, and lots of shellfish including shrimp, clams, mussels, and squid, as well as beef, chicken, vegetables, grouper, etc. Drinks (other than water, and coffee/tea at breakfast) were extra, but beer was only $2, though mixed drinks were more. Had a great night sleep in my bed after dozing up on deck looking at the stars, then woke up the next morning to see the sunrise. After breakfast we sailed (by motor) to a floating fishing village where they also cultivate oyster pearls. We were ferried around by women who rowed standing up, which was cool. It was neat seeing how oyster pearls are cultivated, and there were pearls to buy if we wanted to, but no hard sell. Then we made our way back to Halong City, eating lunch on the way. The guide was fine: he didn't have the greatest English, but it was perfectly understandable and acceptable. The service on board the ship was flawless, and we were encouraged to tip the captain and the guide (which we did, at about $5 per person per day, so $10 each for the captain and guide). Drive back to Hanoi was fine, again with a stop. All-in-all, 23 hours on board, plus about 4 hours on each end for travel time. In short: the scenery was divine; the boat was beautiful; the food and service was great. I would go again in a heartbeat, probably even for two nights.

We went on dragon pearl 3 on a 2 day tour to bai tu long bay. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip, from start to finish.

After reading a few horror stories, I did a thorough research & read most of the trip advisor reviews! In the end I was so confused, I decided to see if i could use the services of a travel agent and as luck would have it we found Ms Cham from Halongsapatours.com. She was amazing - quick in her responses, gave us frank advice on the pros & cons of various boat tours on offer and her prices were always better than other agents. I asked her so many (stupid) questions about this boat & that boat & why one was better or more expensive than another with the same itinerary. I found her very honest with answers. Would thoroughly recommend her to anyone looking to visit northern Vietnam.
