Summary would be it's really a one day trip - lunch to lunch, the boat and especially the rooms are lovely, the crew all great and the food was good. It ticked off a trip that we really wanted to do but its expensive and would be much better with another night and in the sunshine. We chose luxury for our trip on the bay and also a company that sails to Bai Tu Long bay as its quieter than Ha Long. The trip was meticulously handled, pick up in Hanoi dead on time, a long journey to Ha Long but in a minibus with only 6 armchair style seats, wifi, water etc. One stop en route to an artisan workshop the to the terminal atHa Long which is akin to an airport departure lounge. Straight onto a tender boat out to the Dragon Legend, a welcome talk through the itinerary and check into cabins that were better equipped than most hotel rooms. We both felt we would have been happy for a week on the boat! The weather was overcast, Jean's and a light jacket which was a shame but you still got a feel for the bay. Lunch was followed by kayaking on dead still water for an hour then free time prior to dinner. At night there is squid fishing off the rear of the boat, a few were caught but don't expect them to jump on the hook! The next day started early with tai che if you could face it, coffee if you couldn't then a trip to local caves, then very early lunch then back to Hanoi.

We subscribed a 2D1N trip on Dragon Legend 2. The cabin was huge. We enjoyed the sightseeing and kayaking activities on day 1. On day 2 we started the day with the sunrise and Tai Chi class. During all trip the staff was friendly and tireless, always paying attention to safety and "extra mile service".
Definitely recommend Indochina Junk.

We checked the reviews before booking our 3 days 2 nights with Dragon Legend because it was pricier than other companies and we were so happy we trusted and booked the trip with Dragon Legend. Our cabin was so spacious and comfortable, We have a bathtub for 2 with windows we could open, we sat there taking in the view while relaxing. The food was great, if we had one complaint: there was too much! :) The boat was steady and I did not get sea sick which I was a bit afraid of. Our guide 'Long' was amazing. So smart and funny, spoke great english, multi talented and warm. He made us feel like we were part of a family. The excursions were interesting, the floating fishing village gave us insights into what must be a challenging way of life, albeit in a very beautiful environment.
We also enjoyed the warm pool on the top deck and the massages at the spa. All and all a great experience

We took a 2D1N cruise on Halong Bay just before Christmas ... JD and Milky Man, and his crew, were so hospitable to us on the boat. The rooms were beautiful, spacious, and very clean with fantastic views, even though we had cloudy and cool weather ... None of this dampened our spirits though, and JD especially kept us very well entertained! The kayak trip was superb, and also the exploration of island caves.

The only service I would recommend as an upgrade to the boat experience is to extend WiFi capability throughout the boat and not have it only in the dining area. WiFi service was spotty on the boat with a generally weak (or absent) reception of signal due to location. Conversations with staff indicated this to be a recurring issue.
I strongly suggest upgrading the boat's WiFi capacity as a huge benefit for the experience, as customers desire to send picture and video communications while the trip is underway.

An overall fantastic experience that I hope to repeat with more family and friends soon!

Dragon Legend lives up to its promise of sailing apart from the pack. Happily our boat, accompanied by its twin ship, was only half full as January weather can be cold and rainy. Fortunately for us, the weather was favorable, and we enjoyed an especially beautiful sunrise, mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures. The food was very good, the room clean and comfortable, the passengers friendly and the staff sweet. Long, the tour guide who learned English listening to the Back Street Boys, was darling, and Tony, the organizer, was kind and accommodating. Though I was not up physically to bamboo basket visits to floating villages and pearl places, I did enjoy standing at the head of the tender, the wind in my face as we cruised among the karsts.

This has singlehandedly been my worst travel experience.

In short: BED BUGS, SCAM, HOSTILE

For a longer story, read below.

Booking my cruise in Halong Bay was supposed to be a luxurious and relaxing experience. But the time we had was nothing like this.

After reading the reviews, we thought we were homesafe booking a cruise through this site, but covid seems to have changed a lot of things.

Firstly the lady we got contact to from Dragon legend seemed nice and helpful to book out cruise. She would book us a five star cruise with perfectly nice rooms, but as a matter of fact she didn’t. The cruise she booked us was at best a 3-star cruise, no English guide, room wasn’t cleaned properly and also the food was often very cold food as well. The staff seemed very young was often blasting loud music even though no guest were interested in this. Not very nice.

The biggest problem was that she overcharged us 90$ Pr. Person. Which is almost a 1/3 of the full price of the cruise.

As we complained about this, she seemed to acknowledge that she scammed us, but would only give a small discount. After spending a whole evening on the cruise writing back and forth we finally negotiated a deal and agreed that bureau would pay for a stay at a hotel.

The morning after I woke up with at least 30 bed bug bites!!! This led us to complaining again spending several hours complaining to the cruise and dragon legend bureau, they offered us a refund of 5% of the price of the cruise. I found this hideous and disrespectful and this has been the theme of all our conversations.

In the end we agreed that the bureau would pay for our laundry, since getting rid of bed bugs is very hard process. When they found out that we sent all of our stuff to get cleaned they threatened to withdraw all of their offers leaving us with an extra bill on almost 500$ in laundry and hotel costs.

From there we felt the need to stop complaining as this is too much money for us. All in all this was an awful experience and I would never recommend booking a cruise at this bureau!!!

What a wonderful experience we got. We were picked up by the most luxurious van with phone charges, water, recliner seats, it was so clean and well kept (No 11), they stop half way to get you to buy things from a shop but I found a lot of it at the markets for half the price. The boat was beautiful, big clean rooms with a bath tub with a view. Our fridge was mouldy and very noisy, I think the power must get turned off when the boat isn’t used. The food was amazing and so many courses. Let them know in advance if you don’t like seafood as there are a lot of seafood dishes. The activities were great, squid fishing, kayaking (my highlight). We moored at night in a quiet spot away from all the boats. Halong Bay is so beautiful. We did get a dud luxury van coming back (No 6 from memory). None of the phone chargers worked. There were two seats facing backwards which made my kids feel ill. The seatbelts were too small and the driver put up a blackened window between him and us so we had no view facing forward. Hated the whole trip home.

Wow!! This was such an awesome cruise, the rooms are absolutely gigantic. It is a five-star service kind of cruise, complete with turning down the beds and chef food art and our guide Coco and the magician Milky man! Milky man made our son feel extra special, showing him numerous magic tricks. The cruise is so peaceful and stunningly beautiful, especially after the loud craziness of Hanoi.

This tour company was recommended to us by friends. However, as it was pricy we were a little apprehensive so opted for the two day 1 night tour.

Having just got to shore, we can say that this tour was worth every penny. It was simply breathtaking from start to finish; the cabins were classically decorated, the food was divine (and the courses just keep on coming), the staff are super friendly and helpful. The most special thing of all is that this boat cruises beyond Halong Bay to Bai Tu Long Bay which is even more beautiful, without another tourist cruise in sight. It was truly spectacular to witness the bays without other boats and ships in view. Definitely worth paying the extra to do a second night, we wish we had!
