Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

I visited Ha Long bay 17 years ago and it was very quiet and amazing like it is still today, BUT now it is overcrowded and polluted so it takes a bit the charm off. Nevertheless, it is still a wonderful place to visit. Maybe it would be advisable to organise well in advance and choose a cruise or day... More

My parents recommended us to book a great cruise through Halong Bay Cruises No Limit website for overnight cruise and we had a wonderful time with our cruise. They picked us up from our hotel in Hanoi as promise and arranged all activities during our tour smoothly and they cooked great food at meals during the trip as well. The... More

I love this place a lot whenever I visit alone or with friends, family. Ha Long Bay has 1996 islands with different shapes and unique nicknames. You will discover it with amazing, surprise. If you stay overnight, I prefer to choose a cruise to stay and have good view. If affordable, you can hire a helicopter to have overal view... More

As it was Winter, the bay takes on a surreal look with islands jutting out of the mist and the traditional boats gliding along

Halong bay is surely the most enthusiastic place you can ever see in the all world. When you cruise down to the islands it makes me that I'm in a fantastic movie. When you arrive Hanoi or from internet you may book for a cruise tour how long you want. To explore the all site you need nearly a week.

We picked a lovely cruise through Halong Bay Cruises No Limit website and we spent 2 days and 1 night on boat. They booked all services for us included: airport transfer, cruise and all activities during our cruise time in Halong Bay. It was sunny during our trip and we had amazing time to do kayaking and visiting caves as... More

A 4 hour drive along pot holed roads at high speed was not a good start to the day. 1 comfort stop at a tourist trap on the way was nothing special. By the time we waited for other groups to arrive it was 2.30 pm before the boat left the harbour and 3pm before we were served a very... More
