Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

We are party of 10 friends and we were advised to book a cruise via HALONG BAY CRUISES NO LIMIT website agent few days ago. We decided to book a private minivan from Hanoi to Halong Bay and return since we did not want not share transfer with anyone. They treated us as special guests during three days and two... More

Halong bay is just amazing, the scenery with the limestone islands is something else. The caves here are incredible, if you get the option make sure you go to "surprise cave" or sometimes known as "amazing cave" The food is always divine, with a spread of fresh seafood and local cuisine. An overnight stay should be your minimum to enjoy... More

I went on an overnight cruise on Halong Bay, not knowing what to expect. The beautiful hills and islands throughout Halong Bay are exceptionally beautiful and there is a sublime experience as you cruise through these waters. Definitely recommend taking your time and going overnight rather than just spending a one day cruise. We stopped at Surprising Cave for a... More

There is a reason why most tourists go here..it is amazingly beautiful. Even though we only spent half a day it was still breathtaking.

The Bay itself was very very beautiful with amazing limestones. I recommend to spend 2 days 1 night just to be able to enjoy the scenery in the morning and afternoon. I went kayaking through the giant stones and it was an amazing experience. Despite the beauty of the stones, the water itself is dirty nonetheless, it is still worth... More

A story of descending dragon coming to save Vietnam end up forming almost 2000 limestones and isles in this bay. It''s calm and peaceful bay with superb view. A UNESCO world heritage, one of the must visit attraction and voted as the new 7 wonders of Nature. Best time to visit is during winter time.

This is truly a naturally beautiful place but it is a pity it is a such a tourist haven. After a long drive from Hanoi (although the distance is not great the quality of the roads make it a long trip - about 4 hours) you arrive at the port which seems to be just tourist boats which are either...
