It was difficult to decided which tour to book for Ha long bay, because none of them had perfect reviews, bur then we stumbled across Wonderbay cruise tour. Although more expensive, we definitely did not regret booking it. The main advantage for us was the shorter trip to Ha long bay, 2.5h instead of 3-4 hours and the exceptional comfort of the vehicle (we booked a limousine bus). The weather was awful, but nonetheless, our experience of Ha long bay was still amazing, and I can only imagine how magical it looks on a sunny day. Our guide Emma (V) was excellent! She spoke english well, made us laugh all the time and shared interesting information about the Ha long bay and vietnamese culture. We really enjoyed the tour with her as a guide. The boat was also quite comfortable and the food was tasty. The cruising was very well organised, we were not bored at all, had the time to relax and see interesting things. We were prepared for the terribly crowded bay, since many tourists complained about the huge number of people and boats which spoils your impression of the beautiful nature. The bay today was not crowded at all, but we are not sure if the bad weather or the low season was the reason (we visited it in january), or we were just lucky. :)

I booked a limousine pick-up at my hotel in the old quarter area and it arrived on time. The bus was wide and comfortable even though I was quite tall. Halong is very beautiful, the cruise is big, but only a small group of guests, so the space is very large. I enjoyed the Vietnamese dishes on the boat during the buffet lunch. Another thing is that my tour guide is very friendly, she sometimes asks me if I am comfortable and helps me. The tour ended and I was returned to the hotel on time as scheduled. I enjoyed this tour and will be back again.

Enjoying the magnificent view of Halong Bay was already in itself a wonderful experience but our guide Alex Song made it even more enjoyable with his jokes and his knowledge. Two thumbs up and highly recommended your agency. ,👍👍😀

We had so much and I did not regret booking the tour with this agency. Luca, our tour guide, was very nice and seems so happy throughout the trip. He tried his best to accommodate everyone and made some jokes during the trip. There are lots of good food options at the buffet, and I loved how it was not a large group during the bus and the cruise itself.

We were very happy with this tour. The tour guide Amy was very energetic and funny. The coach we travelled in was definitely luxury and the drive was nice. The coach was more luxurious than we had anticipated. The boat was clean and modern. Very comfortable. The tour is fun

After reading all the rave reviews and doing lots of research we had high expectations for this cruise - here's why we would give it 3 stars...
Pros:
- Good tour guide (Hieu), very friendly and lots of energy and gave informative and humorous commentary
- Food on boat was good, good variety and lots of it in terms of quantity
- Driver is safe, bus is comfortable and air conditioned
Considerations:
- A lot of reviewers mention not many people on the boat - we had 25 people so were at full capacity
- The website clearly states lots of room and tables where you have one to your own for couples, not sharing. Note every single table had to share with exception of ours
- Bamboo boat ride and cave tour were interesting and clearly a "must visit" in Halong Bay but be prepared that the numbers of tourists reflect this eg. There must've been at least 100 other bamboo boats / kayaks in the water at the same time as ours, this is not the quiet / path less trodden tour - it was chaotic with all the boats running into each other trying to pass through the narrow caves
- A little bit disorganized - the bamboo boat / kayak tour was supposed to be 25 mins only but one couple didn't follow instructions so the rest of the boat were left waiting for 30mins for them to return - not technically the crew's fault but could've been perhaps avoided with clearer instructions
- The boat crew leave all these items on your table encouraging you to go shopping (jewelry, magnets, handicrafts etc), not really a luxurious tour to have staff leaving all the shopping right in front of you in the hope you will buy it
All in all it's a good tour but be aware of what you will get, especially in a short day trip where I guess the itinerary is somewhat limited and hence the hundreds of other boats are doing the same thing. If you have longer time would probably recommend an overnight trip.

Your real experience with comments and suggestion is very useful for us. We understand that you only rate us 3 star because you were not satisfied with some surrounding things. I read your comments very carefully and let me some up here to make sure that the others people will have the fair view from both sides:
1. About our cruises and services:
- We still follow our roles for a small group tour in better services for one day excursion. We were not put you in group of more than 25 people. Maximum of one group with our cruise is 25 people. We did the right thing and please kindly accept this.
- Boat, crews, car, guide, meals... good as in your comments.
- We do apologize for the staffs action on our cruises. Yes, you are right, they should not put all the things for selling on the table. In this situation, a short introduction for shopping time on cruises will be enough. If you want to buy some souvenirs, you will order, if not, your money will stay in your wallet. We will warning with our crews and staffs for this problem.
2. Other surrounding things:
- We are so sorry to inform you that the travel route for one day tour was under the control of the Halong Bay Authority. Only 4 travel routes in the bay 2 for 1 days excursion and 2 for 2 days 1 night boats. That why you will see a lot of people in one place at the same time. We must be followed it.
- With the problem in the kayaking time: This is the personal reason from other couple . You did not accept their attitude. Our guide already explained to them too but seem that they did not want to follow the group during the kayaking time that why it were waited time of the group.
In general, I hope you and our coming guests will understand the situation. Please kindly accept and less strictly with some surrounding things which are out of your control and our cruises services. Our Wonderbay cruises always listen your come as a good lesson for our improvements.

Our guide Hieu (pronounced Hugh) was very informative and funny. He knew everything about Vietnam and answered all our questions. Halong Bay is a most beautiful place but being collected and looked after then dropped back at the hotel made the day. It was fantastic.

We had a wonderful day full of exciting experiences at Halong Bay which was all looked after by our tour guide Alex. From beginning to end Alex was extremely attentive and passionate about the whole experience, we highly recommend this tour and hopefully guided by Alex.

We really enjoyed our day trip to Ha long bay. We were picked up on time from our hotel, bus was comfortable and Eric our guide was great. The boat was nice and our lunch on board was very good. The crew were very friendly. We enjoyed the stop at Titvo Island the 200 steps to the viewpoint was worth the climb!

It is nice to hear that you are going to Hanoi and visiting Halong Bay. You know that now 30% of day cruises are made in metal, specifically Steel ship. It is much safer than wooden boat because it reduce the capability of explosion or weather risk...otherwise it is in good balance, you can feel in the Cruise Liner.
Now we have all cruises made of metal together with wood.
It is nice to have a chance to serve you.

I understand this tour excludes a Bamboo boat rowing trip to the Ba Nang fishing village.
A review from Mjoshyuk23 in Feb 2017, said that the fisherman boat should cost only 30,000 dong

Actually, in Ba Hang fishing village, it is 30,000 vnd/person for using bamboo boat or kayaking. Furthermore, you should tip them 20,000vnd/person for showing thanks to her/him. It is a nice gesture.
